1. And just to be fair to the Galveston County Daily News, the tweeter is not a reporter for that paper or any media outlet in the Houston area but is rather a freelance guy who just likes to flap his gap. He was a FORMER sports editor for the Galveston County Daily News until about a year ago when he was abruptly dismissed.  His activity on this issue might give some insight as to why that dismissal took place.
 2. I'll take an 8-7 WO-S victory. And I am sure that CS-O fans will be just as happy with an 8-7 CS-O victory.
 3. As announced Sunday (very, very late due to Tim Tebow and his overtime victory) on KFDM Channel 6 Sports Xtra, here are the SETXsports Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week: Offense - Sherman Gilbert, RB, Coldspring-Oakhurst Gilbert carried the ball 25 times for 301 yds and scored the Trojans' two touchdowns in a 13-7 victory over Lorena. Defense - Tyrone Watkins, LB  Ozen Watkins had 14 tackles (10 solo, 4 assists) and 3 tackles for losses in Ozen's 18-6 defeat at the hands of La Marque. Congrats to Sherman and Tyrone! Be sure to watch KFDM Channel 6 SportsXtra after the 10 o'clock news on Sunday to see who the next SETXsports Players of the Week are.

 7. I can't confirm that, but it wouldn't surprise me. Especially this week when they are still missing players due to football.
 8. At the end of the 1st quarter, WO-S leads 21-11.
 9. Mmm, no any member could have searched and found that.  You don't have to be a mod.  And the only one who gives that much detail, other than me, is someone who is fully behind that team. And perhaps the most telling, in the 2 posts where you have referenced my "guess" as to your school affiliation, you have yet to deny it. So, you ask if I am sure?  No, I am certain!
 10. As to the fight in the 4th quarter, I guess officials can look at it, but the UIL rule that the penalty for fighting is merely disqualification for the remainder of the game.  And there does not appear to be any prescribed penalty for a post game brawl.  So if anything comes down on either team, it is going to have to be via some creative interpretations of the rules by Dr. Cousins.

The new dirty word in Longview is "DEKANEY."
Yes Longview ate crow on that game but they have good sportmanship and never make excuses or cry why they lost. By the way, are you sure that Longview is my team! Their more than one lobo team in Texas.
This is yours, right?
Longview will face Garland Sachse at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at Dallas' Kincaide Stadium.  Longview comes into their 6th consecutive Area Round game fresh off a 24-3 victory over Temple. Longview, leading 7-3 at the half, exploded in the 3rd quarter for 17 points. Longview attempted just one pass in the first half. The win marked Longview's 6th straight win the bi-district round of the playoffs after their shock upset against South Garland in 2005. The Lobos last loss in the Area round came in 2006 when the Garland Owls blocked a field goal at Texas Stadium to defeat Longview 24-21. Since that loss, the Lobos are 2-0 against the Garland ISD. Longview also returns to Lobo Stadium West, better known as Kincaide Stadium. Since first playing Dallas Carter there in 2007, Longview has amassed a perfect 7-0-0 record at Kincaide with six of the wins coming in playoff action. Longview's win over Temple also gave Longview their fifth consecutive season of winning 10 or more games in a season. It is the 8th time in 10 seasons that Longview has grabbed at least 10 wins in a single season. Under Coach King, Longview has recorded 10 wins every year but once. In 2006, Longview ended the season 9-3. Garland Sachse enters the game with their first ever 8 win season. Last week's playoff victory was the school's first ever. The Mustangs knocked off Dallas Jesuit with a 42-yard touchdown with 40 seconds remaining on the clock, winning the game 49-42. Sachse had previously lead the game 35-13 before the Rangers mounted a comeback to tie the game. The two teams then traded touchdowns before Sachse scored the winning touchdown. The previous mark for most wins in a season for the Sachse program was in 2005 when they recorded their one and only winning season prior to this season when they finished 6-4.  Who do you think will win!  8)
In case you haven't figured it out, yet.....I'm good. Very good.
 12. Pretty petty to put up this thread, when you should be crying over your own folks defeat instead of dancing on someone else's grave.

 14.
WOSGrad, Thank you for proving my point.  It would be wrong for someone to say that about WOS just as it is wrong for you to make that comment about HJ. It is amazing to me that two guys that don't live or work in the HJ community suddenly know so much about it.  86Hawk...you been gone a long time man.
No, see you got that wrong.  I put up the accomplishments of WO-S to show how your statement would have been wrong.  You have just huffed and puffed and done nothing to back it up. Let me ask you this, if H-J is so behind other sports such as, say, football, why is it that on one instance where the H-J fans had to travel ALLLLLL the way to Silsbee, that Silsbee announcers were able to get an attendance on the H-J side by head count, I believe the figure quoted was 53.  You can protest all you want, it is a community that follows the round ball and nothing else.  And you know what the sad thing is, you are jumping up and down like I insulted your mother or something when I mentioned in my very first post on the matter that there was nothing wrong with the community getting behind one sport.  My point was if you choose to do that, don't get on Coach Martel when the H-J football team is giving up more points than the basketball team would be able to put up, on a poor shooting night anyway.
