It's largely based on win/loss record. Last year, Brook finished something like 5th in the large school poll, even though they were clearly better than most of the teams above them. Just read it and move on.
Actually, the West Brook team that finished 3rd in 21-5A finished 4th in the final poll of last year.
Sorry, 4th, not 5th. Behind who?
Behind: 1. Kirbyville, who went 10-0 in the regular season and were the district champs of 18-3A. They went 3 deep in the playoffs, losing to eventual state finalist Coldspring in the 3rd round of the 3A Division II playoffs. 2. Dayton, who went 7-3 on the regular season and were district champs of 19-4A. They also went 3 deep in the playoffs, falling to eventual state finalist La Marque in the 3rd round of the 4A Division I playoffs. 3. West Orange-Stark who went 7-2 on the regular season and were district champs of 21-3A. They went 2 deep in the playoffs falling to Brookshire Royal, after losing their starting quarterback in the middle of the season. West Brook's 2 district losses were 2 more district losses than these 3 suffered combined. There certainly is a team, though, that has a legit beef with our final poll last year. Coldspring #5 in our final poll, who advanced to the state championship game in Class 3A, Division II.
Oh, thats right. Kirbyville, Dayton(seems like we had a common opponent) and WOS. Like I said, it's more about the win/loss record, so read it and take it for what it's worth.
Won/loss record is usually the basis for a number of polls. -
WO-S vs Giddings Predictions

Predictions are always sure to go wrong. However, Giddings in the past, has never been a passing team which in my opion plays into our strength. I do expect a good game but my prediction is 31 - 14 WOS. I like WO-S having the field goal threat. I think everyone would feel much different about this game if WOS was 3-0 which could very easily be the Mustangs record.
Giddings had 168yds passing in their loss.
But are still averaging 80.5 yds passing this season while averaging 302.3 on the ground. Last week's stats show that they can go to the air if needed, but that they still heavily favor the ground attack. -

By then Vidor will be 1-3 and crying about how the refs are the reason that Ned beat them by 4 TD's
Okay, since you guys went there, I'll have to throw out this disclaimer! Neither SETXsports nor any members of its staff intend any disrespect toward either the Vidor Pirates or the Livingston Lions by posting this thread before the conclusion of the Week 4 games. We at SETXsports are fully cognizant of the fact that, especially in 20-4A, every district game is of the utmost importance and caution fans against overlooking any opponent.

Yes, I know we typically do not promo a show a full week ahead of time.....but this will be no typical show! As next week, Mike, Gabe, Robert and the gang will not be at the Hamburger Depot in Downtown Beaumont for the Hamburger Depot SETXsports Weekly Preview Show....THEY'LL BE AT THE HAMBURGER DEPOT IN DOWNTOWN NEDERLAND!!! That's right! In celebration of Mid-County Madness, they guys will be broadcasting from the Hamburger Depot at 1920 Nederland Ave. in Nederland beginning at 6 pm (possibly 5:30 pm) until 8 pm. As always, all are welcome to join them but we wanted to get this notice out so that all of the Indian and Bulldog fans can make their plans to be out at the Hamburger Depot in Nederland next Tuesday. Of course, Mike, Gabe and Robert (as well as a few other guests) will review the Week 4 football games, preview the Week 5 games (with some special emphasis on a game being played at the Reservation next Friday night), as well as reveal the SETXsports and statewide rankings and again name the SETXsports Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, as well as the "In the Trenches" unit of the week! So mark your calender to be there! of course, for those who can't make it to Nederland, you'll want to tune in here because when you mix Mike Sanchez, Gabe Pruett and Robert Sells with PN-G and Nederland fans, you never know what is going to happen! So join us all for the Hamburger Depot SETXsports High Shcool Weekly Preview show at the Hamburger Depot at 1920 Nederland Avenue in Nederland!
