***SETXsports HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL RANKINGS - WEEK 2***

I wish more of the voters would of been at the BC vs Vidor game, maybe another team would of slid into the rankings and BC out.
I wouldn't put BC out just yet. I'm just thinking Vidor, a 2-0 team, deserves to be above PNG, a 1-1 team.
Well, two, I can tell you that half of the pollsters agree with you. -
I wish more of the voters would of been at the BC vs Vidor game, maybe another team would of slid into the rankings and BC out.
Well, one of them was there (he did the play by play for the station that broadcast it). I know I watched it on the net. I invite the others to see if they saw any of it. -
Hey thanks, for all the info. I was hoping for one a little closer and teams more familiar but there is certainly some good ones to see. I am kind of torn between PNG JV and Obama's speech.
Yeah, that was kinda why my first response was how far you wanted to drive. Most Thursday night varsity games are in the large metro areas that have 5 or more schools in the school district (Houston ISD, Katy, Fort Bend, Spring Branch, Cy-Fair, Dallas, Austin, etc.). I'd go with the PN-G JV game if I were you.....I have a feeling Obama will have me throwing things at my TV.
JUST PICK A STARTER!!!!!!!!! one! I dont think its good for any of the three to be running in and out. Heck, they are gonna be too tight for fear of messing and looking at the sideline. Pick one.. he plays well, the other two ride the pine. He screws up, bench him
I agree.
North..havent you learned..you cannot -on any thread- say anything negative about Orange Stark--blasphemy!!
NOTB didn't say anything negative about West Orange-Stark (get it straight, some of those folks within the City of West Orange...Don't laugh!...it is it's own city!). He merely suggested that if Garrett were to be replaced, I would "inwardly feel he was slighted." I merely told him that his telekinetic skills were off as I can promise you that if at some point Garrett is benched in favor of Venson or Logan that I will not break out a "Garrett is getting screwed."
and you are right..if it was jj or garret getting the prewitt treatment..this board would be on fire with posts...posts by people who dont go to the games..but posts nonetheless
Really? You mean it would be worse than this? Basically all of the posts the week of and following the game is how Doug Prewitt is getting screwed by Coach Woodard. I mean I have heard that the backup quarterback is the most popular guy on any football team, but this is ridiculous!
Improvements in the O-line coupled with the weakest opponent LU has played yet was also a very beg contributor to six rushing TD's in that game. That said, Garrett (which he is from your alma mater so say what you will, he is your guy, and if Logan or Venson start over him as the season progresses you will inwardly feel he is being slighted even if you publicly say otherwise) is a proven commodity, Venson is not. Just have to wait and see how this plays out. I am very dissappointed that Cody quit. Not what I would have wanted to see him do. His decision. I personally don't think he should have been on the scout team, my opinion. What is worse (my opinion) is how Doug Prewitt is being handled. The kid showed a lot of moxy and leadership in the last three games of the season. It looks as if Woodard take now is "thanks for baling us out of a season that could have ended disastrously last year, now sit down shut up and if I need you again I will call. I prettier ladies I want to date now". JMHO!!!!
Boy, NOTB, how about those telekinetic powers that are able to reach in my brain and gauge what I am thinking? I am impressed! NOT! Whether it is Garrett, Logan or Venson at RB or Bevil, Prewitt or Johnson at QB, there is only one thing that matters to me, is Lamar winning. If they are taking care of business, then whomever Coach Woodard decides to play is okay by me. So I guess you need to retune your ESP, it is a little off.

Thursday Houston Area Games Source: Houston Chronicle Atascocita vs. Ft. Bend Hightower, 7:00 pm, Kenneth Hall Stadium, Missouri City Langham Creek vs. Cypress Ridge, 7:00 pm, Berry Center, Cypress Houston Waltrip vs. Houston Northbrook, 7:00 pm, Tully Stadium, Houston Houston Westbury vs. Houston Wheatley, 7:00 pm, Delmar Stadium, Houston Alief Hastings vs. Ft. Bend Austin, 7:00 pm, Mercer Stadium, Sugarland Houston Milby vs. Pasadena, 7:00 pm, Veteran's Memorial Stadium, Pasadena Livingston vs. Houston Washington, 7:00 pm, Butler Stadium, Houston Houston Austin vs. Houston Scarborough, 7:00 p.m., Dyer Stadium, Houston Ft. Bend Elkins vs. Clear Brook, 7:00 pm, CCISD Stadium, League City Ft. Bend Bush vs. Houston Chavez, 7:00 p.m., Barnett Stadium, Houston Klein vs. Kingwood, 7:30 p.m., Turner Stadium, Humble A few games stand out. First, of course would be a chance to see what 20-4A foe Livingston is all about although they will probably throttle Washington. Atascocita/Hightower would be a good one as Hightower is one of the better 0-2 teams in the area. Elkins/Clear Brook is a decent one.

Prewitt is getting screwed around

I just love this, Lamar whacks a team in its season opener and the most posts made the week afterward are about 1) a running back who quit the team and 2) that the head coach has it in for one of the QB's competing for the starting job. I know that it is common place these days to be critical of the guy in charge just for the sake of sounding intelligent. However, trying to pile on a coach and claim that a decision as to the playing time of one of three QB's will lose fans following a 58-0 victory kind shows that your keyboard is in overdrive when your brain is in neutral.
the good thing is...at least people are talking about lamar football...i think it's awesome. go check out the boards for lsu, alabama, etc... i guarantee there are some heated conversations going on there, with a lot of second guessing the coaches too...it means that lamar football is on it's way to relevance if you ask me...it's better than apathy. :D
Well, I'm not saying to never question Coach Woodard. However, to engage in some pretty petty complaints following a blowout victory doesn't show a whole lot of support for a program that was dormant for over 20 years. Now if we're taking a few weeks down the road and LU is something like 1-3 with the same lineup, I can understand the criticism. But for someone to come in at this point and claim that Coach Woodard is making decisions that are costing LU fans is ridiculous! While I certainly won't prevent someone from doing posting such statements, I will certainly question their thought process in doing so. -
To Coach Toby, Coach Mark, Coach Melinda and all of the Foreman family, our prayers are with you.

Maybe the way he was treated?
Well real world and college sports is a business and you get paid to win. I'm sure Coach W has a bit better clue as to whats up than you.
I love how all you people just go along with what Woodard does, no questions asked. You are a bunch of sheep. If you think speed is all that matters in football your really have no clue about the sport. Some of the best running backs weren't fast. I wonder why carl lewis and what's his name bolt aren't playing football? Why was Emmitt Smith so good? Backs are stereotyped and too often not given a fair chance...just like quarterbacks and too many other positions in sports. The question is do they get the job done or not? Wasn't Zach Thomas too slow and little? Wes Welker too little? I could go on and on and on. The speed of the game was too much...oh give me a dang break.
Lamar rushing touchdown total in 2010 (whose schedule included such powers as Webber International and Langston College) - 1 Lamar rushing touchdown total in 2011 - 6 I kind think Woodard might have found the right guys for the Lamar rushing attack. I like Cody and his style and have since he was at Lumberton. He probably would have been a contributor had he stayed on the team at Lamar......but he didn't. Good luck to him and wherever he goes as I think he can contribute to some team somewhere if he chooses to do so. However, to castigate Coach Woodard and make him the villain in this is sheer lunacy. He has to make decisions based upon his observation. And believe me, he has put in a lot more observation than anyone on this board. So, yes, I will trust his judgment as to who should and should not be on the field at any particular time. He is in this to win this folks, not to placate all of our desires to see our local high school heroes out there. This is the point where we have to put aside our local high school allegiances and support our local college team. Otherwise, the house will fall once again. If that makes me a "sheep," then BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!
