I have been informed of a schedule revision for Vidor's 2011 season, same venues, different dates. The Texas High game will be played on Sat. Aug. 27th The Bridge City game will be played Sat. Sept. 3rd The Ozen game will be played Sat. Oct. 8th.
What is the problem with the other dates?
I think the Texas High and Ozen games may have just been miscommunications as the Texas High site had the game on the 27th all along and the BISD site had the Ozen game on the 8th as well. Remember these are both games where Vidor is either on a neutral field or the away team so they are kind of at the wishes of the venues there. As for the Bridge City game, I suspect we may see that as one of the games on KFDM CW's Saturday Night Lights, Season II.

I don't believe it was. Bruce's second son Jake graduated in 2009 and his third son, Mike, is a senior to be at Elkins so there wouldn't have been any of Bruce's sons who would have been eligible to play in last night's game. Also, like their old man, all three of Bruce's sons that have played so far are all offensive linemen.

SLC Coaches and SIDs don't think too highly of LU Football
WOSgrad replied to WOSgrad's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
True enough. And I wasn't expecting to see LU at the top of these predictions, or in the top half for that matter. But I see Lamar program, albeit a young one, as a bit better than an 8th place team in this conference. -
Lamar Softball/ Holly Bruder of Moorhead St. to be named
WOSgrad replied to a topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Congrats and good luck to Coach Bruder and the Lady Cardinals! She appears to have a good track record. This is from the Moorehead St. website: "Holly Bruder just completed her fourth year as head softball coach at Morehead State and in a short time she has been able to re-vitalize the Eagle softball program. Bruder's first year saw the Eagles set the school record with 34 wins and a second place showing in the OVC, the program's highest regular season standings finish in history. In 2009, her club broke the victories mark again with 35 while coming in third place in the OVC. She continued the string of success with a third place finish in the OVC in 2010 and another winning record at 27-24. She took over the Eagle softball program after six seasons at Denison University, three of which resulted in the Big Red advancing the NCAA Division III championships. Bruder compiled a 145-105 (.580 winning percentage) record in six seasons at Denison, including going 63-28 (.692) in the last two seasons. Also, the Big Red were 31-5 at home in 2006 and 2007. Her teams captured four North Coast Athletic Conference regular season titles during her six-year tenure. She began her coaching career at Albion College in Michigan in 1999 and 2000 where she was an assistant coach. In her short time there, she helped transform a downtrodden program into a contender, helping guide the team into the conference tournament for the first time in three decades. From there, she spent one season as assistant softball coach and head women's tennis coach at Bluffton College in 2001, where her twin sister Heather is the current head softball coach. She helped Bluffton to the league's best record and spot in the tournament. After a stellar prep career at Rogers City (Mich.) High School, Bruder was a four-year letterwinner and standout softball and soccer player at Alma College. She helped Alma win three conference titles and advance to the Division III College World Series in 1999, where her squad took third place nationally. She was named Second-Team All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in 1999. Among her other activities, Bruder coaches the USA Athletes softball teams, where she has had the opportunity to travel to Germany, Aruba and Australia as an ambassador for the game. She is also an ASA and NSA certified umpire and was on the Central Region All-America Committee from 2003-2006." -

It should and usually is the player standing directly under or directly behind the center.
:D :D very funny. What i meant by the question is which one do yall think he should start. On one hand he's got the not so experienced short qb who is fast and has been in the same position since he started playing. On the other hand he's got a senior who's got experience in the qb position from earlier years but not recent but also has an arm and experience on varsity. I was just asking for yall's opinion.
Oh, it is clear what you are asking. And healthy debate which sets out the strengths of the two competing quarterbacks is a good thing. However, when you interject the "who should get it, and who shouldn't get it," that seems to turn the topic heading toward a vehicle to create, what I feel anyway, is undue criticism of Coach Mathews and whatever quarterback you do not support in this race.

Derek Ledet and Larry Sonnier, among others, will make sure that the 'Stangs are well stocked at reciever.

As to the original question, according to the rosters provided, the following SETX area players will be involved (of course, all on the South Team):

[b]No. [b]Name [b]School [b]Position

1 Fred Ford Kirbyville Running back

18 Zack Sonnier Little Cypress-Mauriceville Wide Receiver

65 Matt Wilson Coldspring-Oakhurst Offensive Line

77 Greg Lunceford Port Neches-Groves Offensive Tackle

88 Cedric Reed Cleveland Defensive End

I don't know if there will be any online coverage. FoxSportsSouthwest is supposed to broadcast the game live tonight.

Kicker, let them underestimate the 'Stangs. The secret will be out exactly one month from now.

Well, I am glad to see all of the pub that CCS is getting and I, too, am looking forward to their first game, which because of date and proximity, I'll probably be able to see. Although As for why it is not a bigger talk, 6man is a limited genre. In fact, the UIL only allows those schools with an enrollment of below 100, which according to the last numbers would leave only Burkeville and High Island as schools that play 11 man who could opt for 6 man. There are schools like Spurger, Goodrich and Brookeland who could opt for it, but in these economic times, probably would not opt for it.

Abritton AND Henry will both be difficult to stop.

It should be whoever Coach Mathews believes it should be.....end of story.

There was a time when the thought of all classes having their championship all contested at the same venue was a dream...one that the UIL never really cared to share prior to the era of televising the championship games. However, that was a time when 5 11-man titles were being decided, not 9. Now, as a fan, it would be cool to OD on championship high school football. However, I never thought that the 2 coaches contesting the championship ever did a bad job of deciding where the ultimate game should be played. It was generally a point that was less stressful on travel budgets on both teams alike. And where appropriate, the coaches were able to secure marquee venues like the Astrodome, the Alamodome, Reliant Stadium and Texas Stadium, along with other grand venues like Kyle Field and Darrel K. Royal Memorial Stadium so it is not like the young men who contested these titles were playing them in 500 seat stadiums. I guess it kind of irritates me that the UIL does this, as AAW and ECBucFan correctly note, for purposes of further lining their pockets and then tries to feed me the line that it to "allow the young men to play in venues that they never would have played in otherwise." Bull, as I noted above, they were playing in those venues when they spread out. Second, I knew a number of those that played for the 4A State Championship in 1986 and 87 and those young men would have played on any 100 x 53 1/3 yard space regardless of whether it was in the grandest of stadiums or in a pasture between Winnie and Anahuac as long as they were competing for that title. I suspect that many of those who have had the opportunity to do the same would share the same point of view. But I understand that my thought will not prevail and that all games will be held in one venue. But IF that is done, why is that not done as it is done in EVERY other sport that the UIL sanctions....that is have the competition in Austin, Texas. Darrell K. Royal Stadium has the LARGEST regular seating capacity in the State of Texas. It is mystifying why the home base of the UIL is more than sufficient to host the finals for all sports, except one...and interestingly enough that one is a sport that, with due respect to all of the others, kind of defines Texas high school sports! It even makes economic sense as FOX Sports would still pay the UIL a king's ransom to broadcast these games and the UIL's parent, gets the gate and concessions. Please spare me the weather arguments, this is Texas, not Alaska, we are talking about. But I am one voice in an unincorporated part of Harris County.
