Congrats on a great season, Tigers.

Games 1 and 2 of this Class 2A regional quarterfinal best of 3 series will begin tonight with a double header at Dawg Diamond on the campus of Jasper High School beginning at 5:00 p.m.  Buna, the champions of 24-2A had a bye in bi-district and swept Corrigan-Camden to advance to this series.  Central Heights, champion of 22-2A also received a bye in the first round and got to this round via a 2-1 series win over New Waverly. The winner of this series will face Edgewood, who defeated Harleton 5-2 in a one game playoff last night.  

Game 2 of this Class 3A regional quarterfinal best of 3 series will take place from Cavalier Field on the campus of College Park High School in The Woodlands at 7:30 p.m.  Bridge City took Game 1, 8-3, to take a 1-0 series lead. The winner of this series will face the winner of the Robinson/China Spring series.  Robinson leads that series 1-0 with Game 2 to be played tonight in China Spring at 7 p.m.

[/quote] I've seen less games, but I can concur as to his competence, or more accurately the lack thereof.  He was a source of frustration for both Leopard and Tiger players.

Okay, this makes a little more sense.

According to David Smoak of smoaky.com, Mike Owens has resigned as head coach at Tyler Lee. Reportedly, Owens told Smoak that he resigned with the intention of re-applying for the head coaching position.  ??? ??? ???

[/quote] Well, so far only 4 coaches have left since Coach Thompson was named AD and 2 of those apparently at the choice of the school district.  Coach Toby Foreman leaving is no surprise as word had it that the only way he would have stayed at WO-S was if he would have been named head coach/AD.  Coach Mark Foreman was talking of retiring even before Coach Hooks gave notice of his. Coach Riojas, after making some major strides last year with the baseball team had a team that significantly underachieved this year.  That, along with the fact that he appeared to be making enemies both in and out of the district sealed his fate. As for Coach Orebo, that might be the only surprise for me other than that she has used the coaching position as a revolving door the last few years...quit...come back...quit...come back.

The key word is "if you want to."  I agree that Ricky Ryan would be a great fit at WO-S for a number of reasons.  He is a great basketball coach and even better math teacher (he taught my trig and calculus classes).  In times of budget constraints, such a combination would be a boon for WO-C. However, teaching math at LC-M may be where he is most comfortable.
