8.
It is true...the district graciously voted us in this past winter so we are the real deal now.  We are no longer 'Outlaws' ;D It was really a fun season this past year learning the new game.  Community seemed to adapt well and we had good crowds still.  Some may still downplay 6man, but it really has an exciting appeal to it and if you get a chance you should really try to catch a game.  Now..just like 11man, if it's a lopsided game it's really not that exciting (unless you're winning of course!), but when you have teams that are relatively comparable, it's hard to beat! If anyone thinks 6man is not football, I challenge you to rethink that thought.  I saw some hits last year that will make the toughest of the tough shiver a little!  I have even read that they are trying to start adult 6man leagues in central Texas.  Maybe we should try that here.  Any takers???
Well, I made one of the Jackets' scrimmages but wasn't able to make a game last year.  To make one is still on my to do list.  Because of my duties on Friday nights, I hope that there are some Saturday games on the schedule It is great that they have been included in a UIL district starting next year.  An exciting brand of football should be made a lot more exciting with a district championship on the line.  Also, I am sure that Coach Holton will be thankful not to have to scramble to schedule what constituted 9 non-district games.  Hopefully, he has gotten in touch with Coach Stranburg at Orange Community Christian and we can have a SETX Six Man Bowl! In sum, I think this is great news for Chester!
Just need to have less than 100 kids in high school.  They have everything else they need.
I checked that this morning.  They turned in 98 for the last realignment.
 10.
Just throwing this out there. It may not mean anything, but if they wanted to give the job to Cornell or Toby, they could give it to either one and not even have to post the job. When you promote from within you don't have to post the opening. Just something to think about.
At one time, I thought it was the case that you didn't have to post it if you promoted from within.  However, I was corrected on that when the Kirbyville AD/HC search was going on. It does have to be posted regardless of whether or not the district is intending to promote from within.
 11. I was peeking at the UIL website to get Burkeville's numbers for realignment when I happened upon what was called "2011-2012" alignments.  I looked at the 1A 6-man 2011-2012 alignment which sets out District 13-1A (6 man, DI) which has: Apple Springs Chester Coolidge Laird Hill Leveretts Chapel Oakwood I thought they were going to have to wait until next year's realignment.  It is great if they don't so that they have something to play for in late November.

 13. Regardless of what we think of the choice (and I admit I am not high on it), for the immediate future the fortune of Pat Knight is tied to that of Lamar University.  That being the case, I wish him the best of luck and warmly welcome him to Southeast Texas. Let's do this, Coach Knight!
 14. Let me see if I have this correct, the three top candidates to bring the Lamar University men's basketball program back to respectability are: 1.   A man whose college coaching career has consisted of sitting a few feet from his obviously more competent daddy and whose only head coaching job came when his daddy basically handed the job to him akin to dictatorships in third world countries; 2.   A man, who although highly thought of because of his play at Lamar, failed to lead a Conference USA team to a winning record; and 3.   A Division II coach whose flip flops on coaching here make him more a prime candidate for a position in the Obama regime than as a Division I coach. Right now, another year of Roc doesn't sound that bad at all.

 16. I hope the Leader can get this on their online version.  I have heard many good things about this essay and I look forward to reading it.
 17. Mr. Colbert is a good man, I've seen his resume.  And one of the reasons that I will give him a bit longer before judging him is that he has a bit of work to do in undoing the work of not only his predecessor the but the superintendent before him. No doubt about that and things that he has said make me feel a bit better about the selection process for the next football coach.  But what was told to me still nags at me.  I will hope that the decision made shows that I need to find other sources for my information. As to Mr. Hill, I could not agree more.  He seems to be in tune with what needs to happen at WO-S.  His predecessor, however, was a CLASSIC example of what I was talking about.
