Oh, I will support Lamar regardless of who is the head coach. I am not going to wish bad luck on my hometown university simply because they selected a coach that I didn't agree with. That being said, I reserved the right to express my optimism or lack thereof on Lamar's chances of revival based upon that choice of coach and, quite simply, I'm not optimistic, sorry. Some are saying that the Knight era (if it comes to pass...as we have seen, a lot could happen between now and Thursday) will be more successful if Matt Cross is selected as an assistant. I think the only assistant that would make the Pat Knight era successful is BOBBY KNIGHT.

You people post this stuff about Haynes every year. I know for a fact that he is not coming to Kelly....plus the job isn't even open. Check your source and quit writing unfounded gossip. Here's my question, if he was so down on Lamar and the SLC, WHY DID HE APPLY? As I understood it, the application process was a voluntary one. What was someone holding a gun to his head? Did they threaten to harm his family? I can understand his views on the SLC. Heck, most of the folks on this forum have the same view of the SLC. That is why a lot of folks want Lamar to receive and accept a invitation to join the WAC. In my view, he just makes himself look like an idiot whose applications may not be taken seriously by AD's in the future.

Bob West says Pat Knight is leading candidate.

If Knight ends up being head coach, I think the only way to categorize this search is as a colossal failure. -
Not yet. But it is getting closer!!!

I think something that Chris touched on, but which may be kind of hidden is how you can't underestimate the role of momentum, either positive or negative, in high school sports. I think the results in 21-3A on both the baseball and softball show that this extends not only within the game but from game to game as well. This past Tuesday, both in softball and baseball, we saw teams previously undefeated in 21-3A play. The teams that won those Tuesday contests (Silsbee baseball, Bridge City softball) went to capture their next game. However, the losing teams (Bridge City baseball, Silsbee softball) went on to drop game to teams that were struggling (4-12 WO-S in baseball and a H-J softball team that was winless in district). You can probably add PN-G's early district troubles to show the same thing. I am glad my job performance isn't judged on the achievement of 15-18 year olds!
