Well, if you travel I-10, I'd say bring a friend, maybe 2, so that you can use the HOV lanes.  Remember you will be going into downtown Houston around rush hour and although rush hour is lighter on Friday as lots of folks leave work early, it is still pretty slow moving.
Speaking of Grad....wondering if you're going to make this game?  I was thinking I might stop and pick you up on the way to take advantage of that HOV lane.  If I was coming from Orange I would take I-10 to BW8 and skip downtown...I'd also probably take the Hardy Toll Road as well because traffic actually gets worse on Friday afternoon headed north on 45.  Either way leave early and GL to WOS.
Sorry, ac.  I'll be slugging my way up Hwy. 249 to Magnolia.  I was really excited when I first heard this was going to be a Saturday game because I would be able to make it.  Now, I guess I'll have to rely on texts!
4. Now, please don't take what I am about to say as me stating that the inappropriateness of infidelity depends on how hot your wife is perceived to be because all men should be faithful. That being said.....TONY PARKER, YOU ARE A ONE DUMB FRENCHIE!!!  Have you taken a good look lately at who you are married to!!??  You are married to freaking Eva Longoria!!!  You cheat on your wife with Eva Longoria....you don't cheat on Eva Longoria if she is your wife!!! AGAIN, YOU ARE ONE DUMB FRENCHIE!!!
5. Thursday - Turner in Humble for Kirbyville vs. Waco La Vega Friday - Magnolia West for Anahuac vs. Crockett Saturday - Stallworth for West Brook vs. Pearland
6. I too was shocked to see the roster and all of the guys that are underclassmen for the Panthers.  Wyatt was all over the place, as were Kimball and Trice and I won't forget Mr. Dependable Cameron Mitchell.  I look forward to talking about them on Friday night!
7.
i wish there was a web site we could go to if the school has one please post it
While both Sutton and Oxford High Schools have websites and statements of sympathy, there is no place to leave a comment. However, here is an article in the newspaper that serves Sutton: [Hidden Content]
8. I don't know what the coroner ruled as the cause of death for Reggie.  In fact, one of the more disturbing things was the possibility that we may never know what caused it. Prayers go out to the family, teammates, school and the community there in Massachusetts.
9. I do recall the past attempts to have some sort of Houston board.  First, by no means am I suggesting a another htx.com.  But from what I recall, and this is admittedly an outside view as I wasn't here at the time, the attempt at a Houston forum appeared to be more of an attempt to pare the western part of SETXsports (District 19-4A and 22-3A) out than to cater to a Houston audience.  But this year alone, we have had people from part of the houston area and it appears to be a bit more traffic than in past years.  I've noticed posters from Brenham, Montgomery, La Porte, Friendswood and other parts of 24-4A that view and post an a pretty regular basis.  I can't disagree with those who say it may not be a basis to start a new forum and I definitely agree that it isn't enough for a complete other site, but there are folks who once they get in there (I am thinking of Brenham fan for one) may help increase our traffic.  I envision those folks doing the lions share on info over there if we do it.
10.
You presented a very honest assessment of the board poll.  I think the only other thing would be to post who votes on the poll and what schools they represent.  Truth is I don't read it every week, and if I were a voter it would be impossible to weed out my own bias.  Never came on here to say I had all the right answers.  But I would hope that at the end of the day everyone would want to get the top 3-5 pretty correct as to who really is the best team no matter the record or classification.  That's my opinion.  After the top 5 it probably is anybody's guess as to how to rank them with not much consensus.
As far identifying the pollsters, I will allow them to do that when or if they wish.  It's not that I am attempting any cloak and dagger, but I simply don't have their permission to do so.  I will tell you that I am one of them and I guess my user name sort of gives away my school affiliation...although I must also date myself and inform you that during my four years at WO-S we were still a 5A school.

12. No poll in Texas carries any weight, AP, Dave Campbell or this one.  All of these polls are just "vanity" polls, and reflect the aggregate opinion of those who vote in it.  Even those in Texas that proport to be "power polls" can be labeled the same.  In fact, in the arena of high school football there is only one poll that I know of that has any bearing on postseason play are the power rankings from our neighbors in Louisiana.  This is a poll compiled by the LHSAA (their UIL) which is really a mathematical formula factoring wins, and the class and winning record of a team's opponents and determines which teams aside from the district champions make the playoffs and seeds the teams 1-32 which determines first round matchups (#1 plays #32 and so forth). All other polls, whether you are talking about this one or the AP is done strictly for one purpose, to foster discussion and increase traffic in your little part of the information highway.  And given that in the less than a week this poll has been up, it has been read almost 1700 times, this poll has successfully served its purpose. As to the question as in a head to head match up.  Heads up, I would take a West Brook over a Kirbyville or a West Orange-Stark, although I must say I may give some pause at this point on a Dayton/West Brook matchup (but would probably still go with West Brook).  But in a poll of this type which involves teams of several different classes, mythical head to head match ups can't be given a whole lot of weight (or at least I didn't).  Does that compromise the integrity of the integrity of the poll?  Well, such as the pollsters respective choices, that opinion is in the eye of the beholder. But for any sort of workable poll to be put together on this site, that is how it must work.  There are 3 5A schools in the SETX coverage area and no other class has enough schools in it to properly populate a top 10 on it's own.  So warts and all, this is the way it will be compiled for the foreseeable future.   If that renders the polls bogus in your eyes, then I will tell you what I told someone else a couple of weeks ago....it is not required reading....don't like it, don't read it.  There are apparently enough who do already.
13.
Guys I agree that a forum MIGHT work.... But then we run into the same problem.... If we have an East Texas forum, someone has to provide the content for it.... And then people still have to visit the Forums.... Todd showed you guys the numbers, even in our best months, we get in one month what you get in ONE DAY.... My question is, why waste someone's time and effort on an East Texas section, when it had it's own site and no one was there? Who is going to maintain it? One of the benefits of dropping the site was me getting to focus on SETX and what is going on down here and if we open up an East Texas board, then there I am again tied up in that.... Todd hit the nail on the head earlier, no one cared about the site until it's gone.... And I'm sorry that Brad has worked hard on information the last few weeks when I've busted my tail on that site for years now.... It's just part of it I guess, I don't know....
What I was envisioning was a forum that did not require near the upkeep for football that was required of you this year.  Put schedules at the beginning of the season and (MAYBE) standings...and that would be under coverage area you had for the past two weeks...and that would be all for football season.  No previews, no updating of schedules with scores or a scoreboard or anything like that.  The other content would be provided by the posters themselves. As for for basketball, I'd say make Brad a mod, wind him up and let him go do any and all that he is willing to do.
14. And these are predictions regarding Coldspring vs. Columbus how?  Let's stay on the topic folks, there will be time and place for all of the Coldspring-Huffman bad blood I am sure. Although I must admit that there is not much to predict as I see the Trojans having a pretty easy time in this one.
15.
good now where is that 15 bucks you owe me? ;D
You got $15?  Man! I knew I should have held out for more!  Lousy five bucks! Serious though. Gabe, it is great to have you back, in more ways than one.
16. I think the time may be right for a Houston only forum, there have been some indications of increased interest from the Houston area.  Although the traffic from Houston is not enough to have its own site as was tried a few years back or even number of forums to the extent we would consider for East Texas, but I think a Houston forum would generate some traffic.
17. I was actually surprised (not at Brad's reaction because he contacted me, too) that there was some inquiry about EastexSports.  I kind of reminds me of the end of Lamar football in the late 1980's.  No one went there and now that it is gone, people are in an uproar.   I actually floated the same idea that Chad has with Jereme and Jordan yesterday if we are truly at the point of demise for EastexSports.com. The idea of a forum for areas outside of the original SETX coverage area may be an idea we want to consider not only for East Texas, but for the Houston area as well as there has been a bit of interest from that area.  And combine that with a slight expansion of our coverage area to include Diboll, Center and Huntington (maybe even Lufkin) and we'd still be able to cover what the SETX/Eastex family was covering previously. And I looked at the numbers last week.  During non-basketball months, the message board at EastexSports was garnering anywhere from 40-45 K page views per month.  Peak was usually November and December where the site would hit 100-110 K with I believe in November 2008 that was at 120K.  To put that in some perspective, SETXsports.com had 110K page views yesterday.   Now, of course, we should not expect EastexSports to be pulling the same numbers as SETXsports as they don't have the advantage of the tv partnership SETXsports has nor does SETX have the competition (smoaky.com) that EastexSports has.  But if you look at the numbers, there has been no descernable increase in the page views since the site began. All that being said, while we can all have our input, but I think the final decision lies with Jereme and Jordan. If they believe that effort and money is being wasted with EastexSports.com remaining active, then it is time to put it to rest.
18. And the game will be broadcast here on SETXsports.com!!!
19. Actually, it was a mixup and it should be solved shortly.
