That would put 4 team's in 2nd place with 4-3 record's. What's the tie-breaker here?
its not by points...its by head to head matchup
That is correct. and under that 4 team tie, the head to head records would be Nederland 2-1(beat PNG and LCM, lost to Livingston), Livingston 2-1 (beat PNG and Nederland, lost to LCM), PNG 1-2 (beat LCM, lost to Livingston and Nederland) and LC-M 1-2 (beat Livingston, lost to PNG and Nederland). Livingston. Nederland and PNG would be the 2nd, 3rd and 4th place teams. Livingston who has the same 2-1 record as Nederland would claim 2nd via its head to head win. Nederland would be in 3rd. PNG, who shares the 1-2 record with LCM, would claim 4th due to the win it has over LCM. -
I'm a little confused with the Nederland scenario. They're in with a win OR a 2 pt win?
I understand, and I will try to explain it out because the scenario has as much to do with whether PNG wins. There is a scenario in which PNG, Nederland and Livingston all win. That would give PNG a 5-2 mark and leave LCM, Nederland and Livingston with identical 3-3 marks. The first tiebreaker, head to head would decide nothing, so you go to the point spread tiebreaker, which currently has LCM at +8 (57-49 win over Livingston), Livingston as -3 (21-16 win over Nederland and 57-49 loss to LCM) and Nederland at -5 (21-16 loss to Livingston. So in order for Nederland to get into the playoffs in this scenario, the must beat LCM by 3 points or more to get a -2 or better on the point differential. Like I said, it is only in the event that both PNG and Livingston win, too. But it is a possibility which prevented me from saying just a Nederland win gets them in. -
No, they'll share the district championship with East Chambers if they win unless the Buccaneers fall to Warren. And even then East Chambers would be able to lay claim to the district championship as they beat Anahuac a week ago. -
I thought if Nederland wins, they're in.
That is pretty much the case. The point spread for a Nederland victory would only come into play if PN-G also wins and Livingston wins. That would create a three way tie amongst the final two spots between LCM, Nederland and Livingston all at 4-3. Of course, first tiebreaker is head to head competition amongst the tied teams. In this case, that doesn't assist us as all teams would be 1-1 (LCM beat Livingston, Livingston beat Nederland and Nederland would have beaten LCM). THEN, you have to go to point differentials. Right now it stands at LCM +8 (they beat Livingston by 8), Livingston at a -3 (Beat Nederland by 5, lost to LCM by 8) and Nederland at -5 (lost to Livingston by 5). So if Nederland were to win by 3 points are more, they would have at worst a -2 and this would move them above Livingston. Of course, the Lion fans would be hoping for a win of 12 or more to drop LCM's point differential to the point where they are behind Livingston.
Nope.
Actually, yeah, I ran all of the scenarios and permutations on what could occur on Friday and every one of them is getting puts PNG in the playoffs. Remember guys, first tiebreaker is not point differential amongst the tied teams, it is head to head records amongst. Point differentials come in to play ONLY if ALL teams are TIED after looking at the head to heads.
If PN-G losses, won't they be the #2 seed in division II?
Actually I jumped the gun a little when I said that they were a DII playoff, they could still be a DI. -
No, points are only gone to if head to head fails. Believe me after WO-S' last two years in 20-4A and being home despite successive 8-2 marks, the folks from West Orange-Stark are ALL too familiar with the 20-4A tiebreakers. LOL!

I've just gone through the scenarios and um, I think PN-G may be in regardless.
PNG does not make the playoffs if Central, Livingston and Nederland win (with Nederland winning by 11 or less) because currently: Livingston is +4 LCM is +3 and has to lose Nederland is +2 and has to win PNG is -9 Of these 4, 3 will make the playoffs. So the one with the worst point differential is out. Livingston will be +4. Nederland will be +??? (higher than +2) depending on the score. LCM is currently +3 and just has to stay better than -9, which is an 11 point loss or less. In this scenario, LCM, Nederland and Livingston all have better point differentials than PNG. Let me know if you find something wrong with this one.
No, remember the first tie break is not point spread, but head to head records amongst the tied teams. That does create a four way tie between PNG, LCM, Livingston and Nederland. In that case, the first tiebreaker is head to head record amongst the tied teams. Nederland (beat PNG and in this scenario, LCM and lost to Livingston) has a 2-1 mark. Livingston (beat PNG and Nederland, lost to LCM) also has a 2-1 mark. PNG (beat LCM, lost to Nederland and Livingston) and LCM (beat Livingston, lost to PNG and in this scenario Nederland) would have 1-2 marks. Nederland and Livingston would go due to their 2-1 marks amongst the tied teams. PNG would go in this scenario due to having the head to head tie breaker with the other team (LCM) with a 1-2 mark. So if Central, Nederland and Livingston win, then Nederland, Livingston, and PNG are the remaining playoff teams.
