1. Congratulations on the selection and good luck in the game, Dustin!  Go out there and open up some eyes!
 2. I say continue the testing.  I am one of those that believes that the confirmed cases are so low because of the deterrent effect of the testing. The $1 million in scheme of things is not that big of a price tag when we are talking about the health of our young men and women.  In fact, that is an amount that should not even touch the taxpayers.  As discussed in an earlier thread, by the next re-alignment, Texas will have almost 200 more teams in the playoffs games, which amounts to about 100 more playoff games which the UIL gets 15% of the gross...and that is just football.  All other sports pay a portion of the gross in post-season games to the UIL.   Off of this alone, they have more than enough to pay for a testing program in Texas.
 3.
Volleyball is a major girls sport and the heading did not and probably will not take off like softball. For whatever reasons volleyball has more exposure on the evening news than softball does, therefore people just watch the news to keep up with the local scores.
I'm not sure that is the reason.  No sport has more media coverage than football.  Local stations have weekly shows dedicated to the night's football games.  Yet you will see folks here all over my behind if I don't have a scoreboard up by 10:00 on Friday night.   I think the reason that you don't see the traffic on volleyball is that for the most part, volleyball is pretty much open at season's end and closed when the final game is played.  Football has recruiting, spring football, 7 on 7 and scrimmages that get just as much talk as the regular season games.  Basketball has AAU, Baseball and Softball have select and all-star teams.  Club volleyball in this area, does not receive a lot of exposure.
 4.
Ok volleyball fans now the forum is on the list and first practice is approaching, I know many are not yet in school but get to a computer and get your schedules sent in and make the volleyball forum as good as the rest of the major sports. The girls work hard and deserve the coverage. Thanks WOSgrad andSETXSPORTS For you coaches who just dont have the time its a good assignment for a student interested in communications or sports reporting to report game scores and records on the forum under supervision of course
Thank you picnroll for your efforts here.   We are happy to provide a place which folks can brag on their daughters as well as their sons.  There is no expectation that the traffic here equal the football forum, but there is expectation of traffic.  One of the easiest ways is to get that traffic going is to get the schedules up.  You'd be surprised at how much traffic gets going when folks talk about the matchups. For the coaches that read this, I am sure that the schedule is in hand.  I know that posting those things can be a pain.  But if you pm me, I'll give you my e-mail address and you can attach your schedule and I'll post it.  And if any of the folks reading this can get me names and contact info on the coaches whose schedules we don't have  (those are posted in this thread, [Hidden Content]), then I'll contact them about getting the schedules. Also, this would be a good time for you to talk about who is coming back.  One poster had mentioned previews.  But y'all can provide better previews than this volleyball novice ever could. Just a few tips to get things going.  Good luck on a great season in SETX volleyball!
 5. Don't get me wrong.  I much prefer the plan which creates a 6A over the current attempt to divide each class into two different divisions.  But this plan of 4 teams from each district further dilutes the championship.  That means in an eight team district all you have to do to make the playoffs is finish in the top half of the district....in a six team district, 2/3 of the teams will go.....and in a district like 14-1A, they are just playing the district schedule to determine the playoff seedings.
 6. Well, if my math is right from 11-Man 1A-5A 544 teams will make the playoffs (128 in 5A, 128 in 4A, 96 in 3A, 48 in 2A (DI), 48 in 2A (DII), 48 in 1A (DI), 48 in 1A (DII)) this year and next. If the 6A plan with 4 teams reaching the playoffs out of each region, 768 teams from 11 Man 1A to 5A will make the playoffs.   Is it the "little league" mentality of everyone getting a trophy?  Not hardly.   The bigger justification can be found in Page 15 of UIL Football Manual under Section 1250 (j) of the "Football" Plan which states, "Fifteen percent of the gross receipts of post-district games shall be paid to the [University Interscholastic] League...." For that, you can do the math.
 7. I thought the UIL already had a plan in place, guess things change: [Hidden Content]
 8. Coach Holton e-mailed me and said the schedule should be complete soon.  He is trying to firm up the sites for a couple of games.

HEY MAW, I WAS ON THE TV!!!! ;D
Did he mention WOS was going to win State or talk about how they did back in the 80's?  ;D ;D ;D
No, I just talked about how the new Hamshire-Fannett football coach is SOOOO much happier than he was at his previous place of employment.
 10. Thanks, guys.  It was fun to do.

On the new "Carrol Butch Thomas Educational Support Center" I know some of you'll loved to see this  :D
I was wondering about the 'Educational Support Center" title. I would not believe it if I had not seen it with my own eyes. Are there going to be some classrooms there also?
No, there will be a natatorium there as well.
 12. Thanks to jrhc0120 for forwarding the Warren schedule. Strike another from the list!
 13. I like that FNF is entirely about high school football.  I think Matt and the guys have proven that high school football, in and of itself, is a big enough entity to support a preview magazine such as this without having to provide college and pro football features as well.
 14. Yes, I did notice that driving by the facility you have no doubt as to the name of the facility!
 15. Okay, the people have spoken and the staff has complied.  You have your own forum.  Now folks, it is up to you to keep it here.  I still need a lot of help in getting the schedules up to speed and I am having trouble getting contact information for the various coaches.
