8.
I have heard that some of the nut cases here are saying NO football would be better than 6-man.This is a case of people thinking about what they want instead of about what is best for the kids and community.
I have heard that and I don't get it at all.  Would those, as you aptly put it, nut cases want to be known as the people who ended football in Chester altogether?  Or would they want to be known as the nut cases who decided to put 13-15 (I put a range because there are different stories as how many players Chester really has) of their young men in a position to get hurt? Some have viewed the change from whether Chester could compete in 14-1A with the number of players that it has. I view it as to whether Chester can safely field an 11 man football team with, at most, 15 players.  I think the consensus is that it cannot.  If some of the school board members refuse to accept that, then I am not sure that they hold their office with the welfare of their children in mind and should thus have their fitness to serve on a school board questioned.
He's not going to say anything till it's settled. There's to many names that might not agree with the change. :-X
I have heard that is the case.  In today's version of that article, he seems a little more open to the change.

 13.
I am hearing that there is a change in the Silsbee scrimmage schedule. According to some of the Kirbyville fans, Silsbee is too scared to even scrimmage Kirbyville therefore Silsbee is opting to scrimmage either Southlake Carroll or North Shore. Also, WOS has asked Silsbee to drop LCM from their scrimmage schedule so that they can get a piece of LCM since they do not play them in the regular season any longer. Silsbee and Nederland may be scrimmaging each other now. ::) ::) ::) ::) ;D
Ok, that made my head hurt.  Of course, my wife says that that doesn't take a whole lot.

I am going to have to come watch a game on one of our bye weeks. 6 man seems like it would be alot of fun to watch
I agree.  COOP, we talked about this last year.  Now that we have a team in the area, we gotta go catch one of their games!!!
 15.
how many times has your team been down with a min to play and came back to win, against who
Well, skipper there are two times for WO-S that standout for me (and you probably remember them, too)...first of all in 2000 in the state semis against Calallen in what I believe is the only time I saw WO-S ever execute a two minute drill. The other one that I remember was against Nederland...in the early 90's when Dedmon Lee hit Sheldon Smith on the dead run.  I still don't understand why Nederland didn't have more people drop back.

 17.

I can fully understand if Chester moves to 6 man, but I just wonder why they waited so long to make this call, (if they have?) Grad has some valid questions. It will be difficult for them to fill out a schedule as an independent, I can't imagine the UIL placing them in a district at this late a date. It also makes for difficulties for the other teams in 14A. Every team will now have a second bye week that will be difficult if not impossible to fill at this time. I never heard if HI had found a replacement for the other game they lost due to a private school dropping their program. I am sorry for every one in Chester if this turns out to be true, but I also wish they would have thought about everything else that this decision will come back on when realignment was still fresh and changes could have been made to find additional games by the others teams that this will effect.
The way I understand it our new coach just got on the job 6/21/10 and he got the community meeting together as fast as he could. He said at the meeting he most likely will not be able to get 10 games but maybe 5 to 6.He also said that a decision needed to be made fast to give the other schools in 14-1a as much time as possible to try to locate another game.Hope this answers some of your questions.Don't feel bad for Chester most everyone is excited about this move,we feel we will be much more competitive in the 6-man division.Chester can always return to 11-man if or when the numbers come back up.
I, for one, am excited about the move of one of our teams to 6-man.  From seeing the scores on a weekly basis, it appears to be a very high scoring game packed with lots of excitement!  Heck, as soon as I heard that they were going, I started boning up on the rules.  I know that Coop and I since last year have been talking about making a 6 man game and this may make it a lot easier.   I am also excited because, as little d noted,  Chester is in a division of play where they can be competitive.  And moreover, they are in a division where it will allow them to complete a season.  Even though it was not through their own fault, I can imagine that the folks in Chester didn't feel real good about having to forfeit games last year because they were unable to field a complete team  From what I heard about the numbers coming out for the football team this year, a repeat of that was likely had the Yellow Jackets opted for 11 man. Kudos to Coach Holton for making this decision! I do feel for the remaining teams in 14-1A as even though Coach Holton brought the community to make the decision as soon as he possibly could, it will be very difficult for those teams to find a replacement game given that it was during district play and there are few teams that have BOTH an open date and a 10th game at those times.  And it will make for some very short seasons as at this current time, it appears that no team will have a 10 game schedule and Burkeville is looking at having as little as 7 games.
 18. Now that SETXsports.com now covers teams that are in ALL of the classifications, I decided to pass the pages from the UIL rulebook that happen to deal with the rules of six man football where they differ from 11 man football. [Hidden Content]
 19. Apparently, this is a done deal: [Hidden Content]
 20. Last I heard, HI had not filled that hole left by Brazosport Christian (who interestingly enough dropped that game because they opted to play 6 man this year). I had pm'd this to HI Cardinal, but may just need to post it here: [Hidden Content].
 21.
What you really missed while away: 1. WOS dropped the Mustang as the mascot and are now the WOS Coops' 2. Newton's Barbay deceides he better stop bringing the past records book to the Kirbyville game and come up with a actual game plan. 3. Barbers Hill realizes that they are not welcome in the Houston area and cant beat anyone from the Golden Triangle area so they blame their coaches. 4. WOS cheerleaders photo shoot causes cell phone contraversy that is heard all the way to Oklahoma so Volleyball team steps up and replaces cheerleaders. 5. Famous porn film is renamed "Debbie does [s]Dallas [/s] Ozen". 6. Pirates pet "POLLY" apprently had something to do with game being cancelled because Crosby said something about too many "crackers". 7. PNG proves two things the past few years: (1) they still have more money than anyone and (2) GOOD coaches do make a difference. 8. Who are the Astros?
Ryker, all of these are hilarious EXCEPT for No. 1....you now owe me 2 HD double cheeseburgers!!!
 22. I got an update on Russell from a classmate of ours. Russell is at M.D. Anderson for his 2nd round of chemo.  He will be there for the next three days.  The doctors can't believe how well he is doing and is responding to treatment.  So keep the prayers up, guys.
