CHUCK LANGSTON HIRED AS NEW HC AT WEST BROOK!
WOSgrad replied to Reagan's topic in High School Football
Congratulations, Coach Langston! -
When a picture of a big guy appears in a newsletter, there’s a need to run a big picture because this fellow takes up space. It’s a fair statement that TreVontae Caines has been as big as anyone on the Port Arthur track scene so far. A senior with a football scholarship to Lamar, Caines easily could have had senioritis and not worked at his shot put and discus throws. He could have blown off track and field completely, too. Not TreVontae. He dedicated himself to work and improve at track. His best throw in the abbreviated junior year was 52-9.5. You could say he did not stay content with that distance. Caines tossed the steel ball 59-6 last week at Port Arthur Memorial’s Titan Relays. The weather has not heated up. Neither has the competition to survive as the district, area and regional meets offer the track athlete. “I’m really proud of Caines,” Titans track head man Darrell Granger said. “He’s worked at it and he can Improve more during the rest of this season.” Caines is not the only superior area chunker this season either. Little Cypress-Mauriceville has a real superstar in the discus ring, senior Kollyn Brown. Brown has one more pre-district opportunity to throw Friday at LC-M’s annual Battlin’ Bear Relays. A number of participants may be reluctant to test their skills at LC-M because the District 22-4A meet is scheduled for next Monday and Wednesday at the Mustang Corral in West Orange. Nevertheless, a full agenda of area meets are on schedule for this week if the rain showers stay away. We will run a list of where most area teams will compete this week on the next page.
