  1. On a public servant salary, don't think that will enough $$$$ to even buy one light bulb on the jumbotron. What an honor it would be to have ALWAYS BELIEVE in big words along the bottom of the score board. If nothing else I bet we could get a huge banner on the fence that I am willing to contribute to!!!
  2. I say we get a jumbotron and wire you up Purple4Ever, sponsored by Toups Video and Graphics!
  3. I want it to be whit with purple myself, oh well just a personal preference, LOL!!!
  4. A new one is coming, but do not expect any major bells or whistles!!!!
  5. Very happy to see that they came to their senses and quickly to make sure we were not just sending best times. To many people lay off in weak districts.
  6. School closures At least 14 Texas districts have closed all or some schools because of swine flu concerns. The closures affect more than 133,000 Texas students. In addition, many have canceled out-of-district field trips and competitions. • The Austin school district has closed the Read pre-kindergarten campus and canceled out-of-district trips until May 11. • The Cleburne, Comal, New Braunfels, Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City and Rio Grande City districts have closed all campuses until at least May 4. • Fort Worth Independent School District officials announced Wednesday night that the district would close through at least May 8. The district has about 80,000 students in 140 schools. • The Golden Rule, Children of the Sun and Universal Academy charter schools and the Richardson, Lewisville, Fort Worth and Richardson districts have closed one or more campuses until at least May 4. • Kirby Hall School, a private pre-kindergarten through 12th-grade school with about 150 students in Austin, will be closed until Monday as a precaution. • The University Interscholastic League has postponed all public high school athletic and academic competitions, including the Academic State Meet, one-act play competition and regional track meets, until May 11. • The Bastrop school district has canceled all out-of-district travel, including field trips, until further notice.
  7. Could n ot sleep tonight so here is some newer flu stuff. A pair of Houston ISD schools were ordered closed late last night/ early this morning and will be closed until they verify a pair of probable cases. [Hidden Content] Also Houston's Episcopal High was shutdown until May 4th at least. [Hidden Content] Galveston area asking sick to stay away at school and closing parks. [Hidden Content] Also New Orleans! [Hidden Content]
  8. Well seeing as Houston is considered Southeast Texas in many ways, I am guessing Dayton is and always has been called Southeast Texas.
  9. School has been canceled in Fort Worth ISD until May 8. Houston ISD will wait until they at least have a confirmed case to make a decision on their situation, but a contingency plan is ready when needed.
  10. I know how much you all love us Daytonites, but it has got to be Mike Dugat. I will go and try to find all the stas, unless someone else can do that for me. As a matter of fact the three most important offensive positions on the field since 2000 would have to be Green at QB, Mike Dugat at RB and AJ Dugat at WR.
  11. I just got finished watching a show that says this strand of the flu can be fought off easier with tamiflu than the last regular flu strand, so would someone just tell the truth or figure it out.
  12. Are you kidding me??? Anyway I do think the entire thing is an over reaction and that I am also amazed we will have it all cured in just a couple of weeks anyway, oh well!!!
  13. very good post. the students at wos deserve the finest facilities both in the classrooms and in extracurricular activities. The students at every school deserve that. Call me crazy, but I don't believe "students deserve the finest facilities" at all. Students deserve REASONABLY GOOD facilities. Being flat out catered to with someone else signing a blank check to pay for whatever "finest" thing you want is not how real life works. I can certainly agree with that, been out looking at some of the new schools around the area and sports complex's last couple of weeks and I must say we are getting a tad bit extreme on some things. I really love the golden dome at Atascocita, but do we really need it. There are a lot of little things like that you can find all around and I am not being holier than now, but you can get a chuckle from some things we build and buy instead of pushing the training that makes up what school is meant for.
  14. Spring is good for the fat boys in my opinion, gets'em going early and in the mode to work all summer and be really prepared come August.
  15. Green would have to be the man since 2000 for overall career and impact. Not to many other guys running around Big 12 school's competing for starting jobs around here lately, at least not the QB job.
  16. Went out and strolled around Huffman's new stadium the other day and I must say it will certainly be the gem of 3A next season, for that matter it would be outstanding in any class. It reminds me of a little more upscal version of Lumberjack Stadium in Diboll. With the pressbox and turf making the difference. I love how they have incorporated the field event areas into the complex as well, top notch. Silsbee is certainly I nice facility, with PNG and Dayton I think leading the way in SETX. Now of course the Berry Center is just a skip away from me and it is the best and there is no doubt about that.
  17. Rayne come on over bc we have a alumni game vs the seniors later this month that needs some coverage. Good food in the box I hear. Call Coach Mac and lets get it on. ;D End of April or May, we are going to try and get over there to meet with the coaches asap, but might need to do it sooner!!
  18. My gosh I just love it and thanks Purple4Ever for getting that on tape for us to watch over and over for eternity! My Dad and I both started to cry as we cheered like little kids that day. I forgot how crazy the wind was and you can sure hear it roaring on the video. By the way if anyone spots a Diboll hat it blew off my head in the parking lot and I have not seen it since, LOL! I was changing hats and that sucker went airborne!
  19. Yes that was the most exciting game.Just seconds left tie ballgame and out of nowhere here comes A.J. to take posession of the ball.4 seconds left Cody kicks the ball and its, its, its, good...Dayton wins the game.... Awesome.... Absolutely!!!! It is a moment that will last a lifetime for me!
  20. I just found out last night that Huffman will be a part of my new coverage beat and I am extremely excited to get up in that plush new pressbox!!!
  21. We just had walls built all the way around Pop Jordan Field in Diboll so fans had to come into the park and pay to watch these kids, I might imagine that is why they do this as well. Do they charge in Deweyville? I know the revenue has increased greatly in Diboll for games.
  22. He did come to Hardin from Dayton, but was actually a Hardin Administrator long before that. He believe he handled financing in Dayton.
  23. Nice read and well deserved, as DeBerry is a class act!
  24. Dayton and Crosby are for certain as you have said, with most likely Barbers Hill making its way into the bunch. I would not be surprised to see Goose Creek make a grab at the fourth and final spot, but CE King will most likely grab it even with loses.
  25. Although I have found their past decisions, such as the $10 ticket for a game to be preposterous I must say good call Katy ISD. This will help a lot, as I have seen very close how hard it is to keep up the fields without constant maintenance first hand in Diboll. Soccer season comes at such a nasty weather period and it just tears things up.
