  1. There is suburb out of Silsbee, kind of a silk-stocking place relatively speaking called Caney Head. Well it seems that Sheriff Ed J. Cain of Hardin County received a call that a set of unidentified "tracks" had been found on the river side in a suburb of Caney Head called Baygall. Well the Sheriff dispatched his trusted Deputy to check it out. Three hours passed and the Deputy returned. When questioned, the Deputy calmly explained, "Twernt nothing, somebody had just walked through that area with some shoes on."
  2. I thought the one that simply says, "I told you I was sick" was the best but I think this new one takes the cake Enjoy: MA LOVES PA--PA loves Women Ma caught Pa, with 2 in Swimmin Here lies PA Lawrence L. Cook Jr. 10-29-1964 10-1-2004
  3. You never gave up....and that counts for a lot!
  4. An older fellow(Seth) went down to help his Grandson fix the plumbing on a job in a Tavern on the outskirts of town....Well Minnie an old maid and the town gossip saw his old red truck sitting in front of the Tavern. Minnie ran to town and told everyone in town that she could find, "Ole Seth is an Alcoholic!" She had finished the story at the Beauty Parlor and had entered the Grocery Store when Seth also entered. Minnie exclaimed, " There is Ole Seth the town Drunk!" Seth never uttered a word; just got this bag of groceries and left. BUT ABOUT 7:00 pm, Seth parked his old red truck right in front of Minnie's house, right there on Main Street--and LEFT IT OVERNIGHT.
  5. ;D A big study has just been completed: results are-- In younger adults it seems to be prude-ity..... In middle age adults it seems to be rude-ity..... In older adults....it's overwhelmingly NUDITY....... Yes School Mum; I wrote it.... ;D

  8. So what have we learned in 2,063 years ? "The budget should be balanced, the Treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance." - Cicero - 55 BC Evidently nothing... Has changed in 2063 years
  9. Good luck on your try-outs! Birdwell is one good Coach: he can bring out all the best attributes via skilled coaching..... This Saturday(8th) the Port Arthur JUCO Seahawks have college level try-outs starting in the morning. It's a chance for even Juniors in HS to get a little feel of how a T-O is run. Even if they plan to try out somewhere else later on-- it could be a good learning experience...And they won't be so NERVOUS next time. LOL
  10. The man who bought too much graphing paper didn't know where to draw the line. The answers for the geology test were written in stone. Geography studies teacher says that her globe means the world to her. Eating too many snacks when studying for a test is called cramming. The calculus teacher tried to keep his students on task, but the class discussion kept going off on tangents. I will be in WACO watching the 8 state Regional LL Baseball-- Southwest USA Regionals. Someone want to try their hand at puns for Sat., Sunday, & Monday?
  11. If you think you are a set of curtains, either see a psychiatrist or pull yourself together.

  13. Big Question to all of you who high-jacked this thread.....Just who would you have replaced on this Nederland Intensity team to make it stronger? LOL That is not speculation: they won it all! I did not see any other team in the area that even finished in the top five? For me they are the best combination in the area? Congrats again to Intensity... I think we can build five great teams in the area and get a lot of Uth good scholarships. On any given day one of those teams could be the best.... In all practically it works something like this-- with the politics of filling only one team... It actually happened when a fellow simply stated, " I want all the best in the area and my kid starting. ;D Maybe one compromise alternative is to help pack the LamarState Seahawks with all the best in the area as they finish HS --then win JUCO Nationals and then they can go to any major college in the USA, based on this wonderful accomplishment......Tryouts August 8th for the Seahawks--HS Juniors are included.
  14. Two hats were found hanging on a hat rack in the hallway, One hat said to the other, You stay here; I'll go on a head........ I will tip my hat to that.... and with all that I think I'll scat.... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just a little add on for a joke.... An airline pilot wrote that on this particular flight he had hammered his ship into the runway really hard. The airline had a policy which required the first officer to stand at the door while the passengers exited, smile, and give them a 'Thanks for flying our airline.' He said that, in light of his bad landing, he had a hard time looking the passengers in the eye, thinking that someone would have a smart comment. Finally everyone had gotten off except for a little old lady walking with a cane. She said, 'Sir, do you mind if I ask you a question?' 'Why, no, Ma'am,' said the pilot. 'What is it?' The little old lady said, 'Did we land, or were we shot down?'
  15. Certainly, It has happen many times..If Nederland or BC pull all their girls together at any age grouping they will be two competitive groups. They usually win their HS Districts 80-90% of the time since I have followed them since 1993. They have Uth farmed out everywhere, actually both boys and girls. The LL is just one source of talent and they are great they don't mind sharing. I would bet their would be a big following by hometown folks from each of these diamond towns. That has got to be a great feeling in Nederland right now knowing they topped all the nationally touted and came in under the radar to win. Congrats again.
  16. To Badndn: I would not worry about Bridge City they can deliver a competitive team; or they have in the past in National level games of assorted age Select. Also, remember the HS team that Nederland had that went to the finals in 4A-- played a HS game against BC in the late season warm-up that year and lost 4-1. BC trys real hard. This summer, BCs 10 & U LL team won District and Sectionals and the 12U played in the Finals for the State Championship and lost to Edna 2-0. Between the two teams they only lost one game locally and have beat every gold and other color select teams that they played LOL It's a diamond town that holds the state record of 89 continuous HS District wins. Nederland is strong and they have HS Coaching of a level and ability to take a team deep; an even to the finals. I think Nederland has set the pace and it is time for other towns to follow....
  17. It wasn't school that Tom didn't like it was the principal of it....... To write with a broke pencil is pointless...... He was late for school until a spider dropped on his ankle; then he decided to shake a leg......
  18. I have always believed that if two teams are somewhat close-- the one that plays as a team will usually win. There is maybe always and argument that someone from somewhere just might be a tad better at some things on the diamond, etc: When Intensity wins it's partly because of a HS sisterhood that put girls together that knew a long-term system, signals that were part of their bone-marrow from early childhood, and most of all long term confidence in each other. TEMPERED TESTED SOLID TEAMWORK BY GIRLS THAT ARE GREAT BUT ALSO HAVE KNOWN AND PLAYED HS AND EARLIER---PAID OFF BIG TIME IN WINNING THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP.... Congrats to Nederland girls on a great idea that proves it WORKS. I would hope that my town, Bridge City would AGAIN have a Select team as they once had that incorporates sisterhood and well polished & oiled teamwork. We have A. J. Lamoine, Phillip Tadora, Julie Kalha, James Birdwell and several others with proven SB top-notch training skills to put a HS team busy as a Select team in the off season. Maybe we need a 16U, 14U, 12U, 10 U local select team also. On the 18U age its great that the girls still qualified to play that have college ball under their belt can be on the field with their past HS teammates--more glue to bind the sisterhood of teamwork together. Thank you Intensity girls for teaching us ole folks that teamwork most always counts more the trying to recruit a widespread geographic team. What about your town? Could you use a team honed & perfected in this manner?
  19. Congrats.....Sounds like this team was the very best the Triangle had to offer at this time and it payed off with a National Championship.....Great win. I understand that Orange Crush(Birdwell) had the highest bracket final ranking of all the Crush teams over there. Congrats to them also!
  20. Everyone seems to be teaching phonics... Sometimes the summations are quite-- ironics... There was a small girl that went to her Teacher with quite a pearl... She held up a picture of an elephant.... She exclaimed look; this is a picture of-- A FREAKIN' ELEPHANT... The Teacher did not get too shook... the picture was right in the book... The little girls Phonics had missed and Teacher explained.... Honey under the picture it says--- AFRICAN ELEPHANT...
  21. Hold fast to dreams For if dreams die Life is a broken-winged bird That cannot fly. Hold fast to dreams For if dreams go Life is a barren field Frozen with snow. Hold fast to dreams For if dreams slip out of reach Life is an oil soaked otter Dead on the beach. But dreams held fast And lived each day Lead us to God And His chosen way. <(({{>< NOTE I received this poem today from Central Africa. It was written by two Missionaries that have established a hospital for children affected with AIDS & HIV. Its a little tangent from the normal joke; however, I thought someone would enjoy this poem.
  22. I would rank them as follows for 3A: 1. Bridge City 2. Huffman-Hargrave 3. Hamshire-Fannett 4. Tarkington 5. Orangefield 6. Silsbee 7, Splendora 8. Coldspring 9. WO-S 10 Liberty Anyone else want to hazard a ranking for the best 10 in 21 & 22 3A?
  23. Two silk worms had a race.... They ended up in a tie... That's all for the day folks, I will just say bye... .
