  1. Thanks for the correction, I got it from another site and assumed in was true. Both are good teams with pretty good records.
  2. Interesting 3A games this weekend: Rockdale 2 Taylor 5 ... and down in District 35, Sinton 8 Robstown 1......
  3. I see your point--its hard to build tradition when you have not had a time-table-- for most to grow together and mature locally. I have watched at BC where even now, and many years before, girls that have pitched; soon after HS usually start working with a "little sister". Today one young adult was at a ballgame to see how "her" 10 year old pitched in a 10 & U game. That is one of the benefits of small-town-America. Small towns that have a lot of youth on select-type teams(boys or girls) that mostly end up playing HS ball together have a slight advantage. I was shocked to see Huffman drop down to 3A, but we welcome you. Maybe several winning teams will foster a new stronger spirit down in 3A ball. You have some good programs up and running this year.
  4. You got a point there..... With so many High Schools all around you--it seems no one gets sports coverage, very well. Good luck to your team: I have a feeling you will be quite ready to really shine come playoff time.
  5. Well. If you will look on the alternate post on here concerning top 20 alternate 3A Polls, etc: I ranked Huffman #11 & Liberty #18--I think they are in the top 20...Some little girl objected by saying too many from SE TX on my list(which was 6, including you two).....ETBU, do you folks consider yourselves South East Texas or Great Houston area? ==== Look forward to a good competitive game over in 22-3A. ;D
  6. Yep, That's my picks--let's see yours for 3A big boy? I do favor Southeast TX and also a coastal section of Region IV & the southern part of Region III.
  7. Since I think the strength is way disproportionately strong in certain areas of the state; I would rate 3A as follows at this point in time: #1 Taylor #2 Bridge City #3 Sinton #4 Orangefield #5 Kennedale #6 Rockdale #7 Lufkin-Hudson #8 Sweeny #9 Robinson #10 Hamshire-Fannett #11 Huffman #12 Spring Hill #13 Giddings #14 Cuero #15 Wharton #16 Mineola #17 Carthage #18 Liberty #19 Hardin-Jefferson tie~~~ #20 Wimberley, Jasper, Hutto, La Grange, Bellville, Celina, Robstown Sir: Do you really think White Oak and/or Hallettesville could beat any of the teams rated on the top ten of this Poll? Would someone like to start a poll voting between this top 20-- above-- and Gwood's official poll? That would be an interesting aside for the discussion board at this time of the season! : ====== As for 2A strength--I think either Buna or Kirbyville will win state. Just because they have taken it on the chin against some real strong 3As they should not be weakened when the 2A brackets start.
  8. I am so glad the Cardinals are sticking to an apparent game plan to not pitch Hicks too much, if possible. I thought Wallace did a fine job for 4 innings and Hicks again served as a "closer" which he has done so many times before. He too, once again, pitched well for the last three closer innings. ========== To airitout123: If you noticed fans of both teams were commenting on improvement to eliminate errors etc:, for both of their teams. To point out one teams comments-- to hope for added improvements is a little unjustified.
  9. copy/paste Taylor is for real, in a big way, they have not played a soft schedule...I think politics got in the way even ranking Cuero and Spring Hill in the top 5 in 3A. What they did after TWO unranked 2As- White Oak and Hallettesville beat Cuero and Spring Hill: they dropped some excellent teams out in 2A and ranked Cuero and Spring Hill at the top in 3A and ALSO moved the teams that beat them (2As) into the top positions in the 2A rankings. Sections of the state are--home cooking favored-- on the Coaches Poll! ============== Sir here is my answer somewhat that was posted somewhere else on this board--I feel Cuero and Springhill rightfully should have dropped out of the top 5 on 3A on loses to mediocre 2As: instead of keeping them on top of 3A and elevating those two 2A teams to the TOP rankings in 2A. Everyone has an opinion, and this is just one of many opinions. ;D
  10. BC has two good ones--an older one with a tremendous bat and a Freshman Matt Menard with all the credentials-- including speed on the base-running.
  11. Taylor is for real, in a big way, they have not played a soft schedule...I think politics got in the way even ranking Cuero and Spring Hill in the top 5 in 3A. What they did after TWO unranked 2As- White Oak and Hallettesville beat Cuero and Spring Hill: they dropped some excellent teams out in 2A and ranked Cuero and Spring Hill at the top in 3A and ALSO moved the teams that beat them (2As) into the #1 & #5 positions in the 2A rankings. Sections of the state are--home cooking favored-- on the Coaches Poll! :
  12. To Gwood, Kind of interesting, Cuero losses to a 2A without real credentials--while Buna in 2A is rated #1. Against 21-3A Bridge City beat Buna 11-1; H-J wins 11-0 & 3-1; & Orangefield loses 7-8....Maybe there were more games against Buna,... not sure?... but apparently no 21-3A has too much of a problem with one of the better 2As.... Spring Hill also got beat by a non-rated 2A.. Comments?
  13. A host of BC players, if you add in the JV and consider totals for the last two seasons.
  14. Yes, Huffman and Liberty seem to be playing quite well!
  15. Hey etbu, I responded to your question on the 3A Poll site. As to Huffman & Dist. play, I would guess if they are (OK or really good) they will win that District. 22-3A has fallen on hard times for a few years in baseball.
  16. To ETBU: That simply means "to the top". I understand your question, all the new jargon--I just google in the phrase and see what it means ;D... Most of the time the info pops right up. You can go schwel someone now with the new information......... LOL.. (that means lots of laughs) : Have not seen Huffman baseball. If they play a scrimmage in the Triangle let me know...Thanks. Who have you won over and who have you lost to? ===Sorry, you must have "removed" the post I am responding to?===
  17. This exciting game once again proves that it will be a dogfight till the end for who represents 21-3A in the playoffs. I would think that no team can go undefeated through the District race; everyone has a bad night somewhere along the way.
  18. To Gwood: I was just wondering if you saw the game when 2A Hallettsville beat Cuero?
  19. To Gwood: Thank you for stating your opinion. Have you seen any 21-3A teams play? It is awful hard to access teams that are many mile apart. BC played Carthage a number of years back and Cartage was #1 all year. It was two easy games for BC: they swamped the #1 in a sound manner.
  20. No sir, I have never seen all these rated teams play--maybe you have, but I have not? Cuero did play a good team from Hallettsville and lost. Here is a quote from another site, "I was sitting at a Cuero game and overheard a college head coach and a major league scout say that there were no Division 1 players on the Cuero baseball team...both at the game and both said no players...the head coach had been to two of their games." My opinion is based on the games & teams's records played thus far and District setting that they participate in. I guarantee any team in 21-A would easily make the playoff in Cueros' District. It's a discussion board, we can all have opinions.
  21. They are packing their stats by playing non-prime teams. The others pretty much are playing to get ready for possible bracket play on down the line.
