  1. Stringer first and Treece not far behind. Both will excel in college; they have that college-level arm & potential.
  2. Yes I too hope that Jasper and BC get to play for the Region III Crown. That winner will be hard to beat in the final four in Austin. I too agree that it is one game at a time for both of these teams. All these playoff teams at this level can have an extra good game and beat you. A lot of luck at this level always helps...
  3. Sorry Critter that I lite your after-burners LOL... I just thought an 18-1 score was significant and that coupled with the fact that Bellville lost twice to La Grange made me feel that Jasper should prevail easily. I have a lot of confidence in the Jasper team this season.
  4. I just read that Wharton beat Bellville 18-1. Based on that fact, I see Jasper with an easy series this time. Jasper will roll on up the ladder!
  5. I think BC is right on track for this time of year. Having graduated quite heavy from a final four team it has taken a little time this year to BC to "jell" with two Freshman and several more newer players carrying heavy loads. Wharton was the best thing that could happen to the Cardinals. Wharton was well Coached and that Coach showed BC to be vulnerable to the bunt and also to the steal from second--if BC lets the runners get too much jump. BC closed that avenue in the last game quite effectively and is now ready to be a viable playoff team once again for even this year. Therefore, I think that Needville goes down against this even more complete Cardinal team that is playing at present. Score 4-0 first game; same as I predicted against Wharton in the first game prediction.
  6. Tigerpride please tell us about your top 4 Pitchers? Records? I too appreciate the good correspondence that you have presented on this board... :D
  7. Congats to H-J, you again showed that District 21-3A is head and shoulders over a lot of Districts! That score shows why BC went with Stringer to get the win over H-J and secure a playoff spot. LOL
  8. looking over the big picture I will go with BC by 4 runs in the first game.....Wharton has a good team but has just "not been there the last few years in the final four"!
  9. Cardinals come out of a tough District--they win this one.
  10. You would think that with Orange County alone having 69 Lawyers that one of them would be interested in a class-action lawsuit for equality for use of taxpayers money to equalize equal support of children of different genders in school activities(sports). The point is--IT IS TOTAL AMNESIA BY ALL THE SCHOOL BOARDS TO RECTIFY THESE ONGOING PROBLEMS OF GIRLS/BOYS SPORTS PARITY! Here is a few people that could help enact legislation-- 1. Texas State Board of Education SBOE District 8--MS Barbara Cargill, 61 Wedgemere Circle, The Woodlands, TX 77381 2. Texas State Senator, District 4....Senator Tommy Williams----512-463-0104 or 281-364-9426 3. Texas Representative, District 19...Representative Mike Hamilton----512-463-0412 or 409-745-3644 4. Texas U.S. Representative, Dist 8....Congressment Kevin Brady----202-225-4901 or Orange Office 409 883-4197
  11. It's called TITLE IX: Until some teams of parents and Lawyers get together and extend a class action lawsuit across dozens of schools of many Districts and classifications, absolutely nothing is going to change! The ADs are most all of the same accord--Football is the only thing that counts, period. They will give lip service and try to calm parents down--but the Athletic Programs send all the money to pay good salaries to Football Coaches. All good equipment & favors are extended to "football". Diamond sports(softball especially) have ratty little stands for those taxpaying parents, kin, and town fans to sit on. A good team of lawyers and hundreds of calls to State and Federal officials might just have to be employed--PASSIVE RESISTANCE HAS GONE ON FOR YEARS BY SCHOOL OFFICIALS AND SCHOOL BOARDS. To get equal money spent on girls might even take more state legislation. If the Senate of Texas can pass a bill this week to force UIL to accept Private Schools who recruit in the UIL system---maybe additional new Title IX type legislation need be passed.
  12. I go with BC by 4 points. Champions die hard--they have been there deep in the playoffs and there is enough residual confidence and savvy to propel BC into another District Championship....If they lose?, Oh well, they know how to climb the brackets and get back to the final four.
  13. This District is of the quality of the State "final four Tournament"! I really don't think that any win is really a "shock"; it's just a matter of who wants it the most. The teams are close enough in talent that an error or two, a bad Coaching decision, a couple of hits in a row-- can win any of the games at hand. Congratulations to all the teams in a fine District setting--most all of you would walk away with a District Championship in most 3A Districts across the state.
  14. I think BC gets a nice big win. Just because the lost one game out of 40+ does not relegate them to the cellar! LOL Stringer pitches and BC dominates Tuesday. I just wonder if Meeks would have been able to finish the game on the mound it there would have been a win for BC against Silsbee?
  15. It is interesting that the H-J Posters had convinced themselves that they would dominate this District. Reality says BC works real hard and beat you 7-1 and dashed your hopes.
  16. I would just bet my friend- Skip(his Dad) was there a beaming!
  17. Dishon was good on the mound Saturday. He has been a good "closer" last year and this one also; but he showed everyone he is a complete starter Pitcher in the Kelly game. They may pitch Phillip Meeks against H-J, he seems to have his groove....and the streak goes on.
  18. BC seems tough mentally. Except for Senior Sam Myers this will constitute the core of the Cardinals next year. But next year they will have another full year of quality softball under their belt..... Win or lose they will be real tough come playoff time.
  19. I am all for it! I played against Chuck Young for BC when he was at West Orange in HS at West Orange. He was a good centerfielder. Chuck is a great person and a builder of young men. He deserves this recognition!
  20. I would guess after the smoke clears that the BC AD if possible will allow the BC player to participate. She actually showed a lot of restraint under the circumstances.
  21. Wow, I was there and to hear folks say their was a FIGHT that were not there is not very responsible-- What happened is the runner who was later ejected made a beautiful safe slid into home. The Catcher dropped the ball and then shoved the BC players face in the dirt TWICE. At that point the Catcher got off the top of the safe base runner and kicked at her and missed, then ran to retrieve the ball back at the fence. The base runner then bounced to her feet and took two steps toward the culprit who had shoved her face in the dirt. She made no verbal attack nor body motions. All of the sudden the Plate Ump who had turned his attention to the base runners on the field(after he called the sliding runner SAFE) wheels around and ejects the baserunner--evidently the roar of the crowd caused him to feel warrented to-- do something. Since the Plate Ump was not cognizant of just about anything after he called the sliding runner safe--IT WAS AN UNJUSTIFIED poor call.
  22. I see a BC win regardless of who pitches. I think they will save Stringer for the next game. My guess Freshman Hicks or Sophomore Cessac will start the game...Maybe even Bolton the 2nd baseman. BC really showed character scoring 6 runs in the top of the 7th out at OF. That 13-11 win says to me they can go far. Bunch of determined kids. After looking at that sad display behind the plate--I think that Gentleman should not be allowed to call anymore games. When both teams have double digit walks on their Pitchers(and there was not strike zone at all); it confused a lot of batters and pitchers---sad-sad-sad. There are good teams and bad teams--guess that holds true for plate Umps? Most of the time the Umps are not trying to be the star attraction.
  23. Vidor has good Baseball and Softball this year. I think the boys will win-- about 6-0 just like the girls did.
