  1. Not saying I don’t agree with some of what you’re saying. But what would you suggest to do differently to try and stop the almost certain depression which may even still be around the corner?
  2. Exactly the point I was making. It’s not a welfare check, it’s a bunch of money to stimulate the economy (hence “stimulus check”). It’s an advance tax credit on your 2020 taxes. It’s also a way to appease the masses to take their collective minds off the bs at hand. If someone gets more than their 2020 tax return allows, it will not have to be paid back (unless they made too much). I guess if you make too much, you’re not deserving of a new pistol or the chance to help out your kids (that’s where mine e we oils have gone).
  3. Again, is it fair that all taxpayers don’t get one? Consider someone that has 2 kids in college he/she pays for, pays a mortgage, has a car note, pays into a retirement account so as not to depend on anyone when that day finally arrives. This individual has some credit card debt - nothing crazy - but another monthly payment all the same. Probably a lot less to go around at the end of the month than you might expect. Should that person get one?
  4. But it wasn’t handled with unemployment. Because it’s not an unemployment issue. My question was “Is it fair that all taxpayers did not get one?...”
  5. Exactly. I have been saying that since the get go...
  6. 1. But... Is it fair that ALL taxpayers didn’t get one? 2. Did you keep yours or refuse it? Im not being a smartass. Both are real questions.
  7. I can see your point, but I don’t have a problem with it. Should those that are still working be punished for doing so? Also, stimulus checks are intended to stimulate the economy by providing consumers with some spending money. When taxpayers spend this money, it will boost consumption and drive revenues at retailers and manufacturers and, thus, spur the economy. It’s more to get cash flow going than it is a welfare payment. The idea is that higher earners already make enough to continue spending. I don’t agree with that assumption necessarily, but that’s the idea.
  8. The answer to the question is impossible to know with 100% certainty. But it’s time to test the waters... Governor Abbott has decided to start moving ahead in a very slow process. Good. Not good enough though. Let’s ramp it up a little more even. We are luckier than some regarding the number of deaths. Not near as bad in Southeast Texas. So why not open things up. I’m tired of being protected from myself. I was at the grocery store yesterday sans mask, and a lady who was wearing one commented to me, “You sure are brave...”. I said, “Why, because I’m not wearing a mask?” She replied yes and I explained to her that 1. I can’t find any N95 masks, 2. If I could, I would save them for my asthmatic son and others in my family who are more at risk, 3. I never wore a mask during flu season and 4. I sanitized my buggy, don’t touch my face, keep about 10 ft. between me and the next guy if possible and finally, I don’t know for certain, but I think we are being led down an unnecessary path that could do worse than kill us. Our freedoms and liberties that hundreds of thousands of people have died for (including my Dad) are slowly but surely being taken away from us. I’ll take my chances. I wished her good luck and continued looking for the perfect tomato. I have no issue with her wearing a mask or trying to ensure her own safety. But I’m a frickin grown man. Can someone let me wipe my own ass for goodness sake?
  9. CDC officials do not have exact counts of how many people die from flu each year. Flu is so common that not all flu cases are reported, and flu is not always listed on death certificates. In 2017, there were an estimated 80,000 + flu deaths, much higher than the normal average. So the question to me when trying to use the flu as the barometer as to when we are supposed to freak the hell out over an illness is this: why didn’t we as a nation lose our jobs, our savings, our common sense, our liberties with such an outbreak of the flu? That’s not to say that we should diminish the severity of the China virus. But it should speak volumes to the idea that maybe there has been a gross overreaction regarding this illness. The reaction to the China virus is as much political as well as a field day for the media as anything. Perhaps if there is ANY positive thing that has come from this crap is that maybe we will begin to approach ALL communicable illnesses in a more responsible manner.
  10. FYI: Some Blue Bell homemade vanilla intensifies the positive results...medically speaking.
  11. Lmao.
  12. I know. Yet my brother, daughter, 2 sisters and countless friends are out of work now.
  13. I don’t blame you. You’re the “Juan Williams” of this board. The hatefulness and name-calling is really unnecessary most of the time. But man, you gotta realize...some of the stuff you’re “side” is spewing is so totally vile and offensive to conservatives that it’s hard to control. I wish you the best. I would not personally give up on good debate. It’s healthy for everyone. Good luck. A serious question UT: Do you really think Biden is gonna hand Trump’s ass to him, or are you just speaking out of anger or frustration? Honest answer please. You can PM me if you want to stay off the board.
  14. Very interesting article.
  15. Is there anyway to receive the stimulus money if you exceeded the limit previously, but will make considerably less this year?
  16. They misspelled my name in the all time greatest lineman list... 😎
  17. Why don’t the other teams get better? Has anyone asked that question? Are the opposing coaches more worried about their kids getting embarrassed or is it really that they are embarrassed of the programs they’ve developed. Running clock, Starters out after 3rd quarter, what else do they want? It’s ok to win. It’s ok to lose. It’s ok to do both by a lot. There is a lesson to be learned when doing both. My only concern is player safety. I hate to see unnecessary severe injuries.
  18. I have no issues with the guy. I wish he coached me when I was a kid (he probably wasn’t born yet, lol).
  19. Yeah, I get it. Makes no sense whatsoever.
  20. I would expand that to any race... (by the way, if you misspell the word “idiots”, it’s gonna take away from your credence - I won’t tell anyone...).
  21. My Uncle Tom voted for Trump. He a white guy though.
  22. It’s all a matter of what your goal is. If it’s saving lives, then LumRaiderFan’s point is well-made. I guess it comes down to what is an “acceptable” mortality rate? Moreover, Who decides what is acceptable? Is it the politicians, the CDC, the WHO, the UN?... Who decides that killing millions of babies (abortion) is ok? Who decides how many domestic violence cases brought on by COVID-19 sheltering in place is ok? Who decides how many suicides due to job loss, financial loss, fear, etc. brought on by COVID-19 is ok? If you’re basing acceptance on scale, then I guess we need a chart of acceptance based on percentages of death before the (insert entity here) decides on shutting down the world. I’m no scholar, but I can think for myself. And I think we are being lied to by everyone involved. Don’t wear a mask, because it won’t help. But healthcare professionals should definitely wear a mask. Oh wait, everybody wear a mask. 100 people can go into Academy to by ping pong balls and some Ray Ban’s, but you can’t hold church on Easter no matter what. Liquor stores are essential, but you can’t have a funeral. What in living Hell is going on folks?...
  23. WOSgrad & BMTSoulja1 - everyone needs to keep that attitude. I really think it can make a difference if everyone will start moving (mentally as well as physically) in that direction.
  24. Yep. Wasn’t throwing any shade. The guy writing it needs to go drown himself though. He was doing what he is accusing everyone else of doing. 🤮
