I like the way Coach Brooks schedules. It'll be interesting to see how good the Dogs are after those five games. There are no gimmes in there...that's for sure. Week 2 might be considered almost a gimme. I don't know about that. BYE High School is a juggernaut. They've never lost. ;D

He resigned because he feared the trip to Beaumont next year. Rumor has it that they will falsely self-report gross NCAA violations so that they the whole program shut down. Why? They fear the Cards. ;D

Tough loss for the Huskers. All we had to do was make a few more of those free throws and we'd have won. Coach Sadler probably feels pretty sick about it. Congrats to the Bears. Any road win in the Big XII is tough and it looks like they have a decent shot at getting to the NCAA tournament. Coach Drew is a miracle worker...

That's going out on a limb right there. I hope we play well and show that we've improved from last year, but to win by 14 would shock me. Let's just win the game period.

He has done a great job and deserves all of the credit he gets, but he's not legendary just yet. He's off to a nice start, though. Hopefully, Lumberton can keep him around for a while.

Maybe he just likes the life he has in Newton. There's a lot to be said for that.

I would say its a push between Hooks and Barbay. Both have been at their schools forever it seems and all they have ever done is win. They could win anywhere and Orange and Newton are fortunate to have them. I'd like to see a third coach step up and be a part of the conversation, but it would take years and years of winning. I'm not sure there's anyone else even close...

Yep. Hebert seemingly had our number no matter how good we were. I wish I could have been old enough to enjoy those games.

Let's not get carried away, guys. This is a good team, but not as good any of the other teams this decade that went deep into the playoffs. They still have a lot to prove to get to that level. We expected those teams to possibly win state and to me, this year's team going that far would be a surprise. I figured the '08 and '09 teams would be close to that good when a lot of these guys are juniors and seniors, but I won't be upset if we're a year ahead of schedule...

Jasper's rolling. Bailey has 3 TD passes and a TD run. Jasper just converted a 2-point conversion when the kick was blocked and caught in the air by a Bulldog in the end zone. That's when you know it's going well. 28-0 Jasper late in the 2nd quarter.

We were well over 1000 back in the late 80's and early 90's. I know there's not a lot to do down there, so people should be having plenty of kids. ;D Actually, a lot of the businesses that were in Jasper when I was a kid that provided jobs for young families aren't there anymore (Visador, etc.), so more people are leaving when they finish high school and are raising their kids in other places where jobs are easier to come by.
