Sounded like a good game.
Wade Duke of Barbers Hill catches a pass on the 1 yd. line to set up the go ahead touchdown on the next play. Ryan Reuter played every down for the west at middle linebacker. He had some qb sacks and did an excellent job stopping the run up the middle. Braden Matthews played the whole game at rt. guard. Barbers Hill was well represented at this game and I was very proud of them. It was a fun game to watch.

He started as a receiver for BH when he was a sophmore. The QB is the one from Ozen.

Wade Duke of Barbers Hill won both hurdles at the Willis meet last Saturday with times of 14.7 in 110m and 39.5 in 300m. Who else is running good times in the hurdles in region III ? Edwin Nelson of Nederland times?

The BH-Dayton game @ BH was the largest crowd to ever see a football game in Chambers county. A new football field ( field turf) and track add to the improvements. A lot has changed in the last year.

When will Barbers Hill win a playoff game?

That offense pre-dates the English Language and is really hard to watch, but I thought the defense was there this year. Maybe next year....
That ancient offense scored on about 80% of its posessions this year, including against Ozen and Dayton. Surprisingly, it was the defense that couldnt get it done in the end.
As the father of a senior on the team, it is just terribly sad to see it end this way. My heart goes out to all parents of seniors who have watched their boys end their football playing days. I want to thank my son for all of the years of hard work, dedication, and thrills, he has given his mother and me. We are so very and proud of you and all of your teammates. It was a great ride. Go BH in 2012 :) -
Guess BH offense is not that good as we thought lol
The BH defense that lost to Crosby was not the same defense that didn't surrender a touchdown over 19 consecutive quarters, and the offense was not the same offense that averaged 30+ pts over the course of the season. The team that lost to Crosby has been exorcised of the poor play and will return with a vengence tonight against Ozen.
baytown sun article Barbers Hill 'Backers big band of brothers The Barbers Hill Eagles have plenty of tradition to fall back on when they host the Beaumont Ozen Panthers in a Region III-4A bi-district football game at 7:30 p.m. today. They also have plenty of family tradition. Senior linebackers Cole Sexton and Logan McSwain, and junior linebacker Garrett Dolan all have older brothers who played linebacker for the Eagles. Senior linebacker Ryan Reuter also has a younger brother, Carl, who will be a freshman at Barbers Hill in the fall of 2012. “Three of these guys have very good brothers who have played for us,’’ said Barbers Hill linebacker coach Bruce Taylor, who has coached all seven players. “Joe Sexton was a very good player for us. He was all-state as a junior. “Jared Dolan made every tackle,’’ he added. “He went off to play at McNeese St. and now is working his own business in Conroe. If Garrett goes down, I still sneak his brother in tonight. You do what you have to do to win, you know. “And Daniel McSwain is as good a linebacker as we have had at the school,’’ Taylor added. “You talk about a machine. He was it.’’ Cole Sexton, Logan McSwain and Garrett Dolan all said their brothers have had a big impact on their football careers. “My brother definitely persuaded me to play linebacker,’’ Cole Sexton said. “I loved watching him play growing up.’’ “My uncle, dad and brother all played linebacker,’’ Logan McSwain said. “It is a family tradition.’’ “Watching my brother play made we want to play,’’ said Garrett Dolan, who is the only junior of the group. Ryan Reuter hopes his younger brother Carl can grow up and play linebacker at Barbers Hill. “He is not the same animal I am,’’ Ryan Reuter said with a laugh. “But I would love for him to play linebacker. It is a great position.’’ Taylor said all eight players have a special love for the game. “You talk about a thrill to coach,’’ Taylor added. “They love the game as much as the coach does. “All four of these young men have never missed a practice or a game,’’ he added. “You can’t say that about a lot of players. They are here doing their job every day. When the best players are the best workers, you have a good team. These guys are just awesome players.’’ All four players have played inside and outside linebacker during their careers. “We think we have the four best linebackers in he land,’’ Taylor said. “They have played a lot of snaps. The three seniors have been with me since they were freshmen. “The thing that is so good about them, because of their brothers, is that they get along with their brothers. Their brothers encourage them,’’ he added. “They like to see how well they are doing. That is a tremendous tribute to their moms and dads. They are all great folks.’’ And all four of them plan to be playing football for a few more weeks. “We have a pretty good chance to go at least two or three rounds,’’ Cole Sexton said. “We have a solid team and a solid defense. Our offense works with us to put up points.’’ “We can go as far as we want to go if we keep our mind right and keep pushing ourselves,’’ Ryan Reuter said. “I feel as long as we play well and keep our mind right, we can play with anybody in the state,’’ Logan McSwain added. “I think we can get deep in the playoffs,’’ Garrett Dolan added. “We have a solid defense and our offense grounds and pounds everybody.’
Great post Mr. E. Thanks. I really enjoyed reading it :)

Good job on your impressive win from BH. Your defense must have been able to contain the twins. I guess it is a good thing for Crosby they are not playing you again next year in pre-district. Congrats again.

We are the District Champs and Ozen is a 4 seed and that doesn't matter. We both enter the playoffs and it will be decided on Friday. So enjoy your 45 minute drive over, spend some money at a local restaurant and enjoy the game because that 45 minute drive back is going to seem like 3 hrs. High scoring game is in the FAVOR of OZEN.
I can agree with that! We don't want to get in a track meet with Ozen! We have to contain the Ozen offense and then control the clock. From what i have seen so far it looks like Ozen will not be able to stop BH, so the key will be can BH stop Ozen? Ozen almost put up 500 yards on Nederland and look to live and die off of the big play. Ozen Secondary has done alot of pick 6's this year as well, so I hope Denny is on this game.
We will have to keep the ball away from ozen with our offense. They are up to the task. No fumbles this week! The defense will be ready with a renewed intensity. BH 35 Ozen 17

Vidor - Crosby, Thursday at Lamar, 7:30

I think the Coogs have the ability to beat anyone on any given night. It just depends on who shows up to play. Those twins are really good. We had no answer for them. I will go with the Coogs in this one by 14pts. -
Where are the ant bites? Hello, BH posters? Have you recovered from the 10-0 celebration last night? What, you lost? OH NO! That's OK you can still play PNG in the playoffs. What, not PNG? Ozen- OH NO! Enjoy the most athletic QB you've ever seen. Don't you just hate it when you stumble right at the finish line and all of your "friends" start laughing at you.
It is unfortunate we will not get to face PNG in the playoff. I think we would have won. Give Crosby their due. We weren't prepared. Probably looking ahead one game too many. Our boys were very dissappointed after the game last night. They will refocus and have a different intensity next week. They arn't used to losing and had forgotten what it felt like. We will bounce back next week IMO.
