I've opened a can of worms. I didn't mean the best 1A could beat the best 5A. But the best 1A could smoke the worst 5A, 4A, 3A, etc. I wrote this thread to confront all of the people whining towards Kountze, Hardin, Lumberton and other teams playing ball with "competitive schools" out of their classifications.

I didn't post my pics, but I was about 75%. My biggest surprise was Newton. I can't believe the margin of score.

Watch out Kirby-ma-ville. Though still the favorite, if they get lax, they will be in trouble. Congrats again, Panthers!!

Thanks, and its fine. Ned Dog edited me anyway. I had some real good stuff to say. ;D It was directed solely to those who cop out on the classification thing when you get a leg up in an argument. Seen a lot of this lately. I understand school pride is a big thing. Losing isn't easy to accept, especially to rivals and in tight games. Bug to lose gracefully is the key, grasshopper! We may very well go on to be 2-8 this year and make the playoffs that way... Dat stinks!! Forgive me Oilers, for I have blasphemed. Luv ya blue!! :'(

Yeah, if I was a young back-up getting to go in at homecoming, I'd be wanting to air it out and show what I had to. You know the kid was pumped!! That's why I wasn't really pressing the issue.

Its only to address all the "whining" that goes on when someone is handed a loss. I'm not saying don't state your class. I'm only saying don't use it as a crutch when you lose or a way to cut down your opponent when you win.

If they can throw the ball like you say, I am anticipating a great game between Evadale and West Hardin. This could turn into a 3 way shootout with HD to who gets the easiest game in round 1 of the playoffs.

No 500 yards, but very few mistakes. I thought throwing deep passes with 5 mins. left up 34-7 was questionable, however I don't feel it was unsportsmanlike.... much. Anywho, Congrats Hardin. Hats off to ya'. See ya'll next year!!

I will see the "D" and very soon This is the first time in a long,.... long time that WH and Kountze have went into a game with WH being the underdog on the football field and I'm looking forward to it. Volleyball school?? He he... see you in a week or two.

Warren and Anahuac are good, but are they good enough to compete with the rest of the pack. It has been a long time since two SETX teams this good have been picked last for a district race by this many people. I'm not ruling them out, I'm merely expressing the competitiveness level of this district. Freakin Wow!!

final score?

When announcing the scores, making sure the size of the school is pre-determined before commenting always seems to be aimed as being a negative for the larger school. Either to take away from the thrill of victory or add to the agony of defeat. The simple fact is that a larger classification school has a greater chance (percentage) of assembling a larger number of better athletes and having superior athletes. This is not always the case. The simple fact is that there are 1A schools in this state that could beat 5A schools (believe it or not). When emphasis is placed on a game, it is usually because it is perceived to be or has been a very competitive game or having a very competitive history regardless of the size of the school. So after the outcome does not go in your favor, don't trump the conversation by throwing your classification card. It is a factor of the game that cannot be changed or argued and was well known going into the competition.

Kountze, Lumberton, Hardin, ...all in the same boat. People keep running them down to make themselves feel a little more confident about their alma mater. These teams are much better than last year, and look to be contenders, but you will have to prove it before anyone will believe. Play with something to prove. Its motivation!! Use it!!

I think Lumberton looks strong, but noone thinks they are for real. They are in the same boat as Hardin. They both are turning it around this year and are looking good. Remember guys, a lot of nay-sayers are only the worried competition trying to convince themselves ya'lls winning is a fluke. Good Luck Raiders!! I love underdogs!!
