  1. As easy as it would be to blame this loss on one kid that’s just not the case. HF has players that seem to consistently disappear in big games. Last night was a perfect example.
  2. I made this analogy last summer during predictions and my basketball IQ was questioned😂😂
  3. I think the substitutions he made were made because the starters were out of gas. That and he was looking for scoring. The blond headed kid came in and hit a 3 but that was it. I think #23 had a 3 point play with a minute left in the 4th but the game was over by then. HF has defensive liabilities all over the floor. At the end of the day the coach doesn’t have but so many pieces to work with and HJ just has more pieces this year.
  4. Very true. HJ did a good of fronting the big kid in the post which made it harder for him to get the entry pass. They also were very successful with a little trap in the 4th quarter. Bottom line for HF to be successful #5 has to touch the basketball. If I were on the Horns sideline I’d make sure he touched it every trip down the floor. Kid is strong as a bull and doesn’t shy away from game
  5. HF lost this ball game because they got away from feeding the ball down low to #5. He is the best ball player on their squad. They also seemed to struggle with conditioning. They are very suspect on the defensive end. The HF coach made a wholesale substitution to start the 4th but I can’t blame him after watching his squad score 3 points in the 3rd. I would be hard pressed to question the HF staff. They have one of the best assistant coaches in the area.
  6. HJ turned it up in the 2nd half with Davis coming out on fire from behind the arc. Sears was huge with penetration and Melvo came up big on the block. HF scores 3 in the 3rd and 3 in the 4th and never got in any type of flow. The Horns got away from #5 and he is money down low. I don’t think he shot the ball in the 4th. Good win for the Hawks!
  7. HJ 56 HF 47 5:05 left in the 4th
  8. HF 44 HJ 35 halftime HF makes a nice run. HJ in the double bonus but struggling from the the FT line .
  9. HJ 21 HF 21 end of 1st. Good ballgame
  10. 21-4A District Standings thru the first half of district play. 1) Hardin Jefferson 6-0 2) Livingston 5-1 3) Hamshire Fannett 4-2 4) Huffman 3-3 5) Splendora 2-4 6) Liberty 1-5 7) Shepherd 0-6 Hardin Jefferson finished the first half of the district season undefeated. They look to be the best team in the district but they will have to travel to HF and Livingston in the second half of the season. Livingston has been the surprise club this year. They have some kids that can shoot it from behind the arc that makes them dangerous. Hamshire has all the tools to be in the mix but has been inconsistent. Splendora , Liberty and Shepherd look to be playing the spoiler role. The second half kicks off Tuesday night and should be a lot of fun!!
  11. Amen!! I don’t believe the Hawks shot 40% from the line. Livingston had trouble with the pressure but hit enough 3’s to keep em in it.
  12. HJ 62 Livingston 56 Final
  13. HJ 59 Livingston 49 1:01 left in 4th
  14. HJ 49 Livingston 35 end of 3rd. Hawks were 2-6 from the line in the 3rd.
  15. Hawks up 45-33 4:18 3rd. Sears picks up # 4.
  16. HJ 39 Livingston 26 halftime
  17. HJ ice cold from the line in the 2nd Qtr. Sears in early foul trouble picks up his 3rd with 5:35 in the second
  18. HJ 22 Livingston 13 end of 1st
  19. They always seem to have athletes. When I had crews up there I stayed up that way a lot. They won state in football one year and ran the coach off. May be a little community dissension.
