1. We hear all the time about big school basketball but the loser of these 3 games scored 29,37 and 47 points respectively. With the type of baskeball players that are in Beaumont there is no reason not to be able to score. You won't beat anyone scoring 29 points in the regular season must less the playoffs. There are some small school guys that could elevate these programs but I don't know why they would want to work in BISD.Wait let me think, anyone that can pay their superintendent 300k could probably make you find a reason.
2. Ya'll need to play doubleheaders you're killing an old guy on these late nights.
3.
This  aint the nba there is no intentional and flagrant in high school there is only intentional and it is defined as a player not making a play on the ball and that happened THREE times last night not five
I could have sworn I saw more than 3.In a couple of situations the guy was beaten so bad he committed the foul but I didn't think the ball should have been awarded.Unless the rules have changed there is a difference between an intentional and a flagrant foul.I haven't studied the rule changes from last year but I don't think that one has changed. No way these had any affect on the outcome of the game ,they just looked questionable. Also a TON of travels that weren't called.
4. I've seen the clubs and looked at the records and the competition both clubs have played.Woodville played some tough clubs but lost handily to them.If I'm not mistaken Anahuac took a very good Nederland club to overtime before losing by a couple.I'll be the first to admit I was shocked by Newton, the last few years when Ross was over there they had a deep bench and a very good ball club. When I saw they beat Woodville late in the year I figured they had to be pretty good.If they are they didn't show it last Saturday. That was the reason for my pick. You can't judge this years eagle team  against last years by their district record because the district isn't anywhere close to where it has been in the past. The final reason for my pick is the Anahuac coach,he does a great job.I'll be the first to congratulate Woodville if they win but my pick is the Panthers.
5. Yes, the one at the end I would agree with. The others probably should have been shooting fouls but I don't know about the possession. It's no secret that clubs are gonna foul to stop the break but you don't often see 5 possessions awarded after the foul.
6. I hate to throw a damper on the the thread because I'm all for recognizing the players in a district that excel but come on folks take a closer look at this. This is a 6 team district so you would have 30 players that would be starters in the district. There are 28 players on this list.It looks like awards day at little dribblers. These awards should be for the players that performed the best. One more observation, The Silsbee coach did an outstanding no doubt but if you look at the all district picks he had the district co mvp and 2 first teamers.I believe Silsbee lost 4 district ball games. The HJ coach had a co mvp 1 first teamer and the newcomer of the year on a club that went 10-0.How that can't get the nod as coach of the year is beyond me.
7. I think Anahuac wins this one by a dozen. Anahuac-72 Woodville-60
8. Good job tonight by the hawks. Some questionable flagrant fouls called in this one but also one that was probably justified.
9. I don't think the first round games will be real entertaing.HJ and Tarkington will play at Kountze which is close but will be a blowout. The games at Winnie have AL T's as a real attractive sidebar.I'm gonna have to think about this one.
10.

After playing New Waverly, and seeing Kountze play. Kountze wins by 15-18
If you saw NW at East Chambers tournament, then you saw NW without one of their stars, who got hurt during their opening game.
all they have is the left handed shooter and the twins too much devin bray and roman walker its no way they are as gud as silsbee
You could say the same for Kountze, all they have is Brey and Walker. ;) I like this New Waverly team but I think Kountze will take them by 5.
Johnson hit some big time buckets the other night.
11. High school basketball is all about matchups.Does NW have any bigs that can matchup with Kountze's 1-2 punch ?? Kountze will be hard to beat this year but a good PG can give them trouble attacking the middle,Hill proved that Saturday.I think Kountze wins this one by 10.
12. They will win the district again but won't be anywhere near as strong as they are this year.McDaniel is a pretty solid player but he isn't the dominant player some folks on here make him out to be.The little shooter and the freshman that got some minutes at the Montagne Saturday along with McDaniel will be a good start on a title.
13. The Tigers should win the battle on the boards. The game will come down to limiting turnovers, hitting free throws and getting back to defend the break. If they do that they will be OK.
14. This had to be a tough game to get up for.The Sharks found out late the game had been rescheduled and they had played a warm up game Saturday.I'm sure they had planned on putting in a few things today.Thats a tough way to to end a season for a senior club.
15. You should take a trip to Big Sandy next year during basketball season.Silsbee plays in their tournament every year as well as New Waverly and sometimes Kountze.Foster is the coach over there and he knows the game as well as alot of the big dogs and better than some of them.
16. Lovie Smith is from Big Sandy (just a different Big Sandy than the local one)The local Big Sandy is in Dallardsville just outside of Livingston. They have a very deep tradition in basketball but they were down this year.
17. It was Brooks Ybarra from Barbers Hill.He signed with LU but I don't think he is with the club this year.
18. You're right on about Silsbee going down low to DC Stallworth. It's Warren, you can put me anywhere but Woodville  ;D I was giving Mike a hard time about the Tigers I know he's listening.
19. Ya'll gave me a hard time when I said the local powers would have to cut down on turnovers to be successful in the playoffs.I gotta add 2 more things to the list that the Tigers have to do better if they want to get out of the region. They have to shoot better from the line and they have to get back in transition defense. They have a club in Rudder that loves to run and they got lazy Saturday on the break.

21. I heard Ponder lost their coach.Who is running the show up there now??
22. The Lamar Lady Cardinals are very lucky to have Larry Tidwell. You want to talk about turning a program around he has done a masterful job in a short period of time.He has a constant presence at the local schools around the area and is a super recruiter.
23.
Walker and Brey could play at Lamar right now Lane and Stallworth are worth recruiting as juniors right now
Walker probably could play right now at Lamar but Lamar isn't anywhere near where they need to be to compete with Sam Houston or the club down at Corpus. They will have to recruit a lot better player if they are going to have any success in the SLC.Look at Buc2010 post and tell me if you think any of those players are anywhere close to Ashton Hall.
24. That was my point. They are all great high local high school players. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that but it ususually doesn't mean they will be D-1 signees.
