1. I don't think he played but 1 season in college.I heard he just decided he had played enough, not sure if thats true or not but I do know he could flat out shoot the long ball.He didn't get a lot of recognition early in high school because he bounced back and forth between a couple of campuses.
2.
and just what kind of statement are you talking about? ;)
I'm not saying that the game will be real close but I do think the 3 kids I mentioned will get some respect from the Tiger faithful. These boys will have a legit shot at going to Austin from the 1-a classification.I gotta tip my hat to them for even scheduling the Tigers. And their young coach may be the best kept secret in SETX.
3. I thought I knew a little about basketball now I'm not sure.I know Walker or Brey won't play a post position in college. They both are about the size to play a 3 but their ball handling skills will have to improve to play for any of the mid majors.Just because a kid is 6'6" doesn't mean he can play even at a D-3 school.Look at the Whitmire kid next time you watch Buna(he's the coach now)he was an exceptional high school player. And played at ETBU for 4 seasons,a small D-3 school. You will be amazed at the talent level at even the smallest of these colleges. If you've never been in the Lions Den in a district game you are in for a eye opening experience.Heck I'll come down that night and buy you a coke without the points.
I agree, But look at they are doin without a true PG lol
Yea but just think if they had someone like Coffey
Whsalum where would you rank the three from spurger if at all. McGallion - 35 out 52 three's 80 assists in 11 games(IMOP) best true PG in the area. ;D Whittaker-10 for 15 threes, avg around 20 points a game, sorry but not sure about the rebounds and block shots, should be in the teens in rebounding. Blankenship has missed a few games but around 25 out of 40 threes and double digits in rebounds.
Court Side I haven't gotten to see them yet this year but I saw them alot in the past and all 3 of them can flat out play.I don't go to much just by stats because sometimes they can be padded by playing lesser teams. All 3 of the kids you mentioned would definitely gets some looks on a top 25 list.Blankenship can shot the 3 with anyone in the area and George would be a coaches dream at the 3 spot.If he works on his ball handling skills he will be better than either one of his brothers and that's saying something.Chase improved drastically as the year went on last year and could make a staement when they play Silsbee later this season. If Coach Issacs brings these kids along like I think he will they have a legit shot at playing in the drum this spring.
5. If Trey would have wanted to continue his career he could have played in a lot of places. One of the best pure shooters I've ever seen.
6. I don't know about dominating anyone but if Hunter Davis comes back and is able to play Hardin gets ALOT better. The kid could flat out play as a sophomore and I'm sure he has matured and gotten stronger.I hope for his sake he gets at least 8-10 games his senior season.
7. Walker and Brey both play way above the rim at 6'2".No knock on the kid from EC but lets not try and make him something he's not.Carrington will be more of a thorn to the Lions because of his athletisism but they will both score at will even on him.I can see the Lions winning the district matchups by at least 30.
8. I think they lost all but one. They hustle and play hard but have no size what so ever and younever know who will score for them.Looks like in this one no one did.

11. EC will win this one if O-field doesn't get their shooter back.If they do it will be close with the home team getting the nod.
12. I said a top 25 AAW.I think McDaniel is playing out of position which has made him inconsistant shooting the 3.Whisenant has done the little things that you have to have to win which is why I mentioned him.I probably got off topic with the 25 observation but you are right on about Walker and Brey being top 10.
13. They are awful small this year but they don't seem to have the interest in the game that you have to have to be successful.I still don't know why you would play a tournament game  the morning of a district game  when you don't have much depth.
14. Texas only problem yesterday was having enough balls to play with.Four players over 20 pts apiece is impressive and Pittman is a monster.
15. I have seen all the kids that I mentioned. If I put together a top25 list it would have 3 kids from Kountze on it and 3 kids from HJ.Turner,Ricossa and Gus.The reason I mention the kid from Hardin is because I ,once again have seen him many times. It would be similiar to a kid being red shirted off an injury in college. If he was projected to come back you would hold a roster spot open for him.And you're exactly right this is just opinions, that's what makes it fun.
16. Then start a thread bragging on the mighty Tarkington Longhorns, god knows thats never been done.Warren is in real trouble this year. They don't seem to do anything in the off season to get ready to play and you can't pick up the ball in November and expect to win.
17.
So Sabine Pass could give Spurger a run for their money?
If both teams are completely healthy Spurger has a slight advantage but they are pretty close.
18. I wasn't confused at all Truth.I made a simple observation that a win over an average 3-a club that was missing their best player doesn't propel the Sharks in to the top 10.Regardless of what year you are in if you're still playing at any level you can ALWAYS get better. The Sharks have some talent, no doubt, but they need to stay focused and improve each week. Then look back at the rankings in February when they mean something.I didn't mean the post as a downing of the sharks just a comment about playing and not worrying about polls.I know Chad watches enough local games he knows who has what on the court.Good luck to you guys the rest of the way,I hope to get to check your club out soon.
19. Their is a HUGE difference in being one of the better players on your team and being one of the top 10 players in SETX.I haven't seen much talk about any of the kids from Memorial(a pretty good club)or Forney from Nederland. Some of the players mentioned in this thread couldn't start for Kountze,Silsbee or HJ.There are probably 5 players in 23-aa that would get a mention on a top 25 list.Walker,Brey and Whisenant from Kountze. The PG from Hardin if he rehabs enough to play and the Mayes kid from Anahuac.
20. I gotta agree with baseball25 about the PG.I thought he was done for the year but if he comes back he is definitely a difference maker. He not only puts pressure on the "D" but can flat out shoot the long ball. The officials that call in Hardin and Anahuac also let the kids play physical you just have to adjust.
21. Consistant play comes from the coach folks and Ozens is in Pt.Arthur these days.I know Duane isn't scared to rebuild but the reigns at Beaumont Ozen would be a huge career boost.
22. HJ,Silsbee and WOS are the cream of the crop in this district. It's not even close after those 3.The Stangs are much improved and if the top 2 sleep on them it will be a mistake.
23. I haven't heard.I can't believe Warren played in a tournament yesterday morning and had a district game last night.
24. Come on folks you beat a very average 3-a club at home without their best player.Just worry about getting better each game and not so much about the rankings.
