1. Is that the same kid who filled in for George against the Sharks last year? If so he played well in that game.
2. Very good win for the Hawks without Ricossa.I'm sure they came out focused after a let down on Tuesday.
3. Neither club has shown any consistancy and the cats were missing their best player. Not a good combination on the road.

He is playing for a new team in a new position and leading the team in points reb and blocks, And only playing 1/2 of the game, comming off bench. And making alltrun. in the HJ turn.
he might crack the top 25.... he isnt that good
EC has several players that look like they may develope into pretty good players. The games I've seen no one has been consistant but someone looked pretty solid each game.Green,Jones,Carrington and Davis all looked good at times. The coach is the key to this group,he puts them in a position to win.I've never seen a top ranked high school player that didn't start.
If you wonder how good their coach is, just look at the two late plays he set up in the finals of the HJ tournament.  One almost resulted in a game-saving layup, but the kid traveled when he lost control on the landing.  The 2nd one almost resulted in a full court tip-in of the inbounds pass with just .3 seconds left on the clock!!!!!.  Yeah, I believe coach knows what he's doing........
That was my point exactly. The 2 plays near the end of the Huntington game were drawn up nearly perfect they just weren't quite executed. This young guy is doing a great job.
5. I wouldn't call them on a lucky streak.Their record isn't that good and so far I think they are under achievers but regardless of the size of school they have a couple of pretty god ballplayers and it looks like O-field will be without their best player.
6. I heard today Sam Houston infielder and Tyler county standout Braiden Riley has named to the pre season all american squad.Great news for one of the hardest working young guys you would ever want to watch.
7. EC wins this one even if the Hornets are at full strength.EC by at least 10.
8. Kountze graduated heavily last year and will take awhile to climb the ladder again but give them a little time. They pulled off a magic trick with the hiring of their new coach. He will have them competetive again sooner than we think, maybe not this year but it's no accident good teams emerge where good coaches sit and this guy knows his stuff.D-ville better get them while they can.
9. Unfortunately both the boys and girls get the short end of the stick at the JV level but their is no excuse to have conflicts with practice schedules and game days. The reason I got in to officiating was because I got tired of watching bus drivers and football coaches call ball games.Kids that work all week deserve better regardless if they are jr high, jv or varsity players.
10. After all the pre season hype I guess Kelly isn't quite as good as advertised.
11. I gotta disagree.I saw the Pirates beat the Sharks last year while they were witout Whittacre and I believe McGallion.I've watched the young coach at Spurger for years while he was an assisant at Big Sandy and also taking kids to Woodville and Kountze to play during the summer. He understands the game and would still have an edge with a healthy Whittacre and a advantage on the point with McGallion. If Spurger gets the 2 injured kids back and the 2 replacements kids are getting some experience Spurger wins the district and probably goes thru it undefeated.
12.
Reed could be looking at his own press clippings....ESPN has him on their Watch List in football...Holding scholarship offers from Texas, LSU, OU, Texas A&M, Texas Tech,....etc
I can promise he'll have to be in shape to play at any of those schools.
13. From a basketball stand point why would you want a coach that had been an assistant in an under acheiving program for years ? From a moral stand point nothing BISD does would surprise me.If the Ozen club doesn't improve very quickly they may be several positions open in Beaumont. When you look at local coaches how in the world do you have Coach Joubert and Coach Williams wanting jobs in BISD and not being given the chance when you have guys like this running the show.Duane and Travis may not have any connections in the BISD but both are great guys who run respectable programs and you don't have to duck when they yell shoot  ::) ::)
14.
Word is that OF stud Zach Hayes will miss the game tonight due to injury. Spread has been adjusted.
And now Nikes you know the reason for my pick.Hayes is the diffference maker for the Cats and without him they may struggle to score.SP will get up for the game at home against the bigger school.

16. If this one stays within 50 I'll be surprised.Deweyville plays there best rebounding and running off the boards which plays right in to Kountzes hands. The Lions break the century mark tonight. Kountze 101 D-Ville-51
17. I heard they received an invitation to play in the I WISH WE COULD BEAT TEXAS BOWL.And o yeah they still suck.
18. When you get north of Zavalla the officials (how can I say this nice) call games very differently.
19. I haven't gotten to see some of the big schools so far this season but most of your small school guys are close.Ricossa would belong on the list if he's healthy as well as Turner from HJ.The 2 bigs from Kountze are solid(Walker is the best player in the area). The most overlooked player in SETX is Whisenant from Kountze he just does his job day in and day out.I saw EC 3 times and they had a shooting guard with some speed that is developing I think his name was Green but not sure .I didn't see any standouts on the Bucs but they play together and are well coached.Carrington has alot of potential when he gets his BBall legs under him.On the 1-a level you gotta like Whittacre from Spurger and the tall kid from Sabine Pass.
20. Depends on which O-field club shows up and which SP clubs shows up.Both of the clubs have been hard to figure so far this year. They have both been impressive in some wins and then get beat by clubs theyshould beat.Orangefield will probably be a little deeper but SP has 2 quality players who can score.I'll take the sharks in this one by a bucket at home.
21.
Sabine Pass is playing great and will beat up on Spourger without Blankenship and Hutto. With these two Chase, Whittaker, and Rawls all together Spurger will pull out a win by two or three
I don't know the Hutto kid but Daniel makes the Pirates better for alot of reasons.First of all he is a very good shooter,he plays good defense and most important he is a senior who provides leadership. All that said Spurger still has an advantage at the point and at the post. They win the game at home with or without the injured kids.
22. Got them from Mikes post game wrap up.The young man had a double/double.The reason I said it was emotion was Turner had 6, Sutherland-6 and Gus-9.That's not a typical night for those 3.
