  1. I think the kid who was the PG last year needs to start but I think the Sharks will be a better team with him on the wing.A good club has to have a PG who is a little bit aggressive and on the cocky side and Cruthirds fits that bill. The Sharks have the scorers so they need someone to collapse the defense and dish the ball to the shooters.I watched Sabine Pass last year start slow and then finish with a flurry and that is usually a personality of the club. They can be pretty good but they have to be more aggressive on both ends of the floor.I think they finish 2nd in the district and the 3rd spot will be a toss up.
  2. It won't be easy to reload without Bailey and Spikes. Those are 2 huge loses.
  3. If he developes the 3 ball he will have the complete package.Good luck to the Pirates this year.
  4. Any idea what happened to my pics? They were on the site early in the week but I don't see them now.
  5. The 3 ball is a great weapon but Spurger already had that in Blankenship and McGallion. If George has put on 15 pounds and muscled up the paint will belong to him this year.Sabine Pass had a lanky kid who was a pretty good ball player but he looked more comfortable at the 3 or 4 than in the paint.Who will the pirates have this year to go along with Whittacre,Blankenship and McGallion.I was impressed last year with the young Spurger coach.I saw him work with the BS kids for sevral years and he did an excellent job last year with Spurger.
  6. Probably should have addressed the question in 2 parts. We normally fish the Keith Lake Pass out of a 16 ft CC aluminum boat. The flounder will flat bunch up there in the fall but your buddy is right on about the boat(especially since the last hurricane). We catch a lot of specks on a ridge off the intracoastal canal just a short run from Esthers. You can idle out of Esthers in just a few minutes.I did a ton of white bass jigging this summer with my brother in law on Livingston this summer out of a 22 ft Triton,it spoiled me.I wanted a new bass boat until I fished out of the Triton and now my wife is hooked on the CC.Carol hasn't fished much but she will try just about anything outdoors. My kids are off in college now so hopefuly I will get to wet a hook pretty regularly again.
  7. I don't remember his # but he gave the club a huge spark when he came in the ball game at Spurger and in the playoff games I saw.He can push the ball and dish it when he needs to.The kids that played the point last year is either gonna have to get more aggressive or play on the wing for the Sharks to be a complete club.Cruthirds was also the best defender I saw on the club last year.
  8. I've got a good friend who has launched there several times this summer.I think they have some traffic barricades up but I'm pretty sure you can launch there.
  9. I think the ramp at the Esthers is still good to go.You may want to check out the Keith Lake fish pass this fall if you want to catch some flounder. You can usually catch some pretty good fish there on plastic jigs tipped with shrimp.I'm thinking about getting me a 22 ft CC triton when I retire, how do you like yours? What are you running on it and where did you get it ??
  10. I've been hearing all kind of rumblings about the Beaumont local officiating chapter.I heard thru the grapevine this week that Mike Simpson was resigning from the chapter.I certainly hope this isn't true.Mike isn't only one of the best officials in the chapter but also a great training official for the young folks just getting started. If this is true the chapter hasn't only lost a great asset but the kids and the game have lost a very classy individual.Hope to see you on the floor working the games Mike, it's where you belong.
  11. They usually under achieve, not sure why. They should be able to put a competetive team together with the numbers they have.Coach White has been in the game forever and is a great guy hope they do well.
  12. I knew I was in trouble in week 0 when I missed a game that had already been played but this week is gonna be UGLY on my sheet.I thought the Warren game was a lock after seeing what Buna did to Trinity :
  13. I didn't mean they would be easy wins.I just see these 2 games as them being able to compete in,the rest are going to be tough. The coach is the same as in years past.I don't know the emphasis they put on special teams but extra points have cost them at least 6-8 games over he last 3 to 4 years.
  14. This just goes to show how quickly an injury can ruin a promising high school career.I watched Hunter as a sophomore when he had Marsh and Nolan on the floor with him and you could tell he was going to be special.I sure hate to see the young mans senior season turn out this way.
  15. I didn't see anyone at Evadale last year that had the potential to play college basketball.Did this kid play last year?E/C has a good basketball tradition but hasn't been the power since Tramain graduated. They will probably finish 3'rd this year behind Anahuac and Kountze. On the 25-a scene this year barring injuries Spurger will win it.Sabine Pass will be a close second and could make it interesting if Cruthirds moves to the point.
  16. This district has 3 tiers. Playoff teams: Anahuac Hardin E/C Middle of the pack: Buna Spoilers(may beat each other up) Deweyville Warren Kountze I think after 2 weeks this is how they will finish.FYI Warren is a laid back place to live and a GREAT place to raise a family. You can't beat these old country folks
  17. I have watched the Warriors for years and unfortunately the kicking game has haunted them for some time. The percentage of missed PAT'S would be eye opening as they continue to struggle in these close ball games.Hopefully the will regroup before they play Kountze and D-Ville,both should be winnable ball games.I did't see this one coming after last week.
  18. Congrats to the Rebs.Pirates will have to regroup or will be a long season.
  19. Evadale has surprised me this year ,they win this one by at least 2 td's.Kountze will have a shot at Warren and D-vllie but that's about it.
  20. I wouldn't jump the gun on the playoffs, everyone is 0-0 right now
  21. Warren avenged their only loss of the season with a 3-1 win over Trinity.
  22. I still think he would have been the best PG in the district this year.Kountze and Anahuac BOTH graduated their PG and their were no standouts on the rest of the clubs. This kid was solid as a sophomore and would have had all the tools this year.He could drive, dish and shoot the 3.The rest of the clubs may have some that will develope but Hunter would have been on the top of the heap this year.Sorry for the young man hope he recovers fully.
  23. After this week things get a lot tougher but the Warriors win this one by a TD. Warren 24 Trinity-18
  24. When you go down the line of teams in the district this year he would have been the best PG in the district.Kountze and Anahuac both graduated their PG and the rest weren't real strong.I hate this for the kid,I was hoping to get to watch him finish his high school career on the floor.
  25. I didn't see the poll until Friday evening so I didn't pick the Thursday game (actually I picked it wrong).Geez, I won't give up my day job to be a handicapper.
