George is going to be a good ballplayer,maybe the best of the 3 Whittacres, but he isn't there yet.The get the ball to JT and let him shoot the 3 and kick it to Phillip if he's covered worked pretty well for the Pirates.I can't remember the last time they made it to the regional finals and I've been watching them since Doug Roberts and Jimmy Hicks played and that was a long time ago.This club is averaging 47 points a game ,which isn't bad,but let's not make them better than they are.They will be in the playoff hunt but I don't see a representative out of this district making a deep playoff run this year.

I think the last time HI beat Warren in a varsity baskeball game was in 2003-2004 at the Spurger tourney.Warren holds the edge in this series about 5-1 over the last 6 years.That being said HI has never played this group,these kids had never started a varsity game before this season.They are unpredictable so I'll say the game will be close.Usually the home court is worth a little but from what I'm hearing HI is improved so I'll go with Warren by 3. They do have a ton of potential but that doesn't make them a better club.They may have a balanced offensive attack but not the refined skill on the block that Phillip developed as a senior or the long ball threat that JT brought to the table in crucial games.Give em time to develope before you expect them to be as good as the regional finalist.

I agree 100% about the Orange Leader,they support all the teams in Orange county better than any other sports reporters I've seen.Gotta agree with ya about the ranked teams also,there are some unranked clubs in SeTexas right now that would definitely give the ranked ones all they could handle.

After all the early season hype where is all the info on the Seahawks??When do they play in Pt.Arthur again and who will be the opponent?What's going on with the club and who are the statistical leaders on the team?I know expectations were high going in to the season so what's up?

EC has a solid club but I don't think they beat Kountze this year.I see them getting the second spot and Anahuac taking third.Kountze has a legitimate shot at going to the regional tournament this year.

Congrats lady hawks.Coaches have to be pleased with the way the club is stepping up when the starters have been getting in foul trouble.

I couldn't believe this score when I saw it.I also heard every attempt was made not to run the score up.Sometimes you just gotta hit the hard wood,go to work and make yourself better.

Do ya'll really think this club is better than last years ??? I 've saw both clubs and no doubt this club has a ton of potential but to say at the end of district they will be better than last years club I think is a stretch.

Paul had several offers to play after last season including one from Central Christian College in McPherason.Went on a visit to ETBU but just never found a program he was comfortable with.He still plays just about every day and has just completed his first semester at LIT in Beaumont where he is working on a process technology degree.

Something about that record for the Bucs just looks backwards.They probably have a new found respect for Tramain these days in Winnie :-\ :-\ :-\

This years team may be better than last years for 3 quarters???? Are you serious?They may be ahead of where last years group was as sophomores but to compare the 2 teams is not fair to either group.There is no such thing as the good Spurger club and the bad Spurger club,there is a young Spurger club and they will be inconsistant at times until they mature.The good news is they are playing quality opponents and have a good young coach they believe in and lots of young talent to go with it.That's a dangerous combination in the long run and they will develope in to very good club.Just remember though last years group was 1 game away from a date in the drum,that's pretty special for the past group of players and a pretty good ex coach.Good luck Pirates,I hope to get to see them in their tournament over the holidays.

I don't think it's just the girls sight that is down.Not near as much posting going on at the boys sites either.I think one of the problems is the overall talent level is down in the area.Lumberton lit the board up when their girls were going to the regional and state tourneys.Silsbee also is down terribly from the last several years as is WOS.Maybe the post will pick up as district play starts.

Some teams make a living with the press and simply don't know any other way to play the game.When teams don't shoot the ball particularly well they can make up for shortcomings by playing with pressure.It's extremely hard to reign in a bunch of 16,17 year old players when they are doing what they have been taught.Sometimes scores can be very misleading as in this weekends tourney games up in Colmesneil.Warrens' girls beat Latexo 76-8 and Warren doesn't play much pressure defense at all.The varsity normally doesn't carry but 7 players and wouldn't be considered one of the stronger clubs in the area so I'm not sure how you would pull off in a situation like this.You gotta feel for these clubs but the bottom line is they gotta work harder if they don't want to get embarrased.

Great win tonight for the Cards.I gotta wonder if Ashton is all the way back from his injury.He looks like he has lost his confidence.#20 for Tech was a very good shooter and Singletary looked good for the Red Raiders.Overall the atmosphere was great and I tought the crowd was closer to 8100 than 6100.

Man I hate to hear that about Roman,hope he's OK.

Tarkington-53 Warren-35 First time I've seen Warren this year and unfortunately it wasn't pretty.Tarkington has a left handed kid that is a pretty smooth player,shoots the ball real well.Warren has a small lineup and pressured the ball real well.The just couldn't buy a bucket on the offensive end or at the free throw line.The Warriors are gonna have to stay under control and give their offensive schemes a chance to develope or they are going to be in for a pretty tough season. :(

Both programs are headed in the right direction.Orangefield protects their home floor very well.They win this one by 4. Orangefield-64 Nederland-60

I haven't had a chance to look at the bracket in this one but it should be Dville and Spurger in the finals.This would be a good matchup.I think Spurger probably has the most talented club but Dville would be hard to beat at home in the finals of their own tourney.That would be a toss up.Should be a pretty entertaining weekend for the fans.

I thought the same thing going in to the season but Anahuac looks to be much improved this year.They are playing a quality schedule to get ready for the Lions.The next week to 10 days will tell a lot about them but I think they will be able to compete with the Lions(the only club in the ditrict this year that can).Kountze will be more physical on the press but Anahuac will shoot the ball better.It will be a fun game to watch.I can see a split and another playin game at the Montagne coming in February.
