Rusty?????? If they scored 3 in the first half I wouldn't call that rusty,That's comatose.I knew this one would be close and low scoring but 33-21 lord I didn't see this coming.

I was impressed tonight with Turner,he scored at will on the drive.Jarvis was able to penetrate and score tonight and shot free throws well.Trey was money from the line down the stretch.This was a pretty close ballgame until Kountze got in foul trouble midway in the 3rd.The Hawks struggled a little on the boards but played with the intensity I was expecting.Kountze dug themselves a hole in the 1st with turnovers and were playing catchup after only scoring 7 in the 1st.They had a chance to get back in it cutting the lead to 7 late in the 4th but their free throw shooting was off.Walker is solid but is playing a little out of position I think,his strength is 12-14 ft jumpers.Overall this was a pretty good early season ballgame.

I don't think they will move Copeland to the post because he is one of the best perimeter shooters in the area in all classes.If they have anyone to get the ball up the floor and take some pressure off his legs WH just went to the top of the class.The Rebels may have controlled him in the football game but you're playing with his ball now.HD,Spurger and WH are your playoff clubs in this district ;)

I hope it's that close.Woodville won their opener by 15 and Warren hasn't even played a game yet.The game is at Woodville and the Eagles return several players off last years club so they have to be the favorite.I think Young is out for the Warriors for several weeks so that may make it tough on the Warriors.

I'll get there early Lazeek so I'll probably sit in the corner ;D ;D ;D Gotta check out the Lady Hawks,I haven't got to see them yet.

Kountze is gonna have a pretty solid club this year but I don't think they are anywhere near ready to start talking about a trip to Austin.This team is still young and has alot of growing up to do.Newton and New Waverly will be early round playoff test for the Lions before they get to the regional tourney.I got a chance to watch Silsbee some this summer and they are gonna be the real deal.I think Silsbee and HJ probably should both beat the Lions but thats not a bad pair to lose to.

I didn't mean to imply Nederland didn't play great.I know they are very capable and very well coached.It is easy however for kids to overlook an opponent early in the season.The Hawks win with intense defense,pressure on the ball and bodies flying.From what I hear I don't think that was happening friday.At any rate this looks like the best game Tuesday night so I'll be in Sour Lake. P.S. I hope Nederland sets the world on fire this year because I love to yell for the underdogs.Go Bulldogs.

This one will be closer than most people think.Huntington has some decent size this year and Coach Barlett will have them playing pretty well.We'll have to see how the Bucs do without Thomas and McDonald.Probably a low scoring game and EC with only 1 practice this may be an upset. I don't think it will be a surprise seeing anyone playing a box in one on Jarvis.A quick guard with a little size can give him a little trouble.I think in the game against Nederland however the hawks just underestimated the bulldogs.You also don't count on anyone lighting you up for 43 from the perimeter.All that being said HJ wins this one.Kountze will press and play a 3-2 with a trap and HJ will be ready for it.Hj wins this one by 10. I can't remember his name, he's in his first year there.I got to visit with him a little at the Spurger/BS scrimmage last week.Seemed like a nice kid and was enthuised about Onalskas progress.

I never picked Kountze over anyone in football but I stand behind my picks in basketball.Kountze wins it followed by Anahuac and then EC.

Pretty good showing for the Lady Hawks against some solid big schools.I think the coaches were pleased by some of the things they saw this weekend.

They will be fine.I would like to see Blankenship step up and lead this group.He is one of the older kids on the club,I think, and he has all the potential in the world.

Coach Foster will correct the turnover problem,his teams always play good fundamental ball.Not sure about the free throws sometimes thats just a mental thing.What time does the Goodrich game start?I'm looking for a close one to watch and it should be a dandy.

I didn't say the Pirates were doomed ,I said they will struggle at the guard position and the post play will be non existant.There are a lot of area teams who are successful without dominant post play.If Deweyville is successful it will be because they find a way to win without post play.I was simply comparing this score to last years game against O-field when the Pirates more than held their own,may have even won I can't remember but I know it was close.Orangefiel has just finished their football season also so both clubs were just getting started.I have watched the players you named quite a bit and hope they do well ,but you know as well as I do they will miss Bland and Jackson terribly.

I agree 100%.Hardin will miss Hunter Davis,I think he is out for the year with a knee injury.He would have made them a playoff contender at the point.

I'm surprised Hardin played with their football team still in the playoffs.The Hornets will be down a little this year I think.

This Kountze club will be pretty solid but they are a long way from being an Austin type club.Duane will get them rolling on the press and they will score,I'm curious how they will do against the clubs that handle the press and the traps they run.They don't play very good half court defense.

I don't know what Goodrich graduated so it's hard to predict.Big Sandy plays well at home but they aren't anywhere near the club they were last year.The small schools that don't play football are 3 weeks into there practice so they should start to jell.With all that said I'll say. I told ya guys,give em a chance to grow up before you start being to hard on them.This is basically a sophomore club with a lot of potential.They will have to see who their leaders will be and mature before they will start to be a force.I saw some good things from them at the BS scrimmage but they will get that deer in the headlights look for awhile.They will develope into a very good club just not real early.

Deweyville will struggle this year after losing Bland and Jackson to graduation.Caswell should do pretty well on the offensive end but they will hurt at the guard position and the post play will be non existant,O-field on the other hand is about ready to move up to the upper end of the food chain with Silsbee and HJ.
