I wasn't bad mouthing Hardin just making an observation.I don't know anything about Woden but I do know the Hornets won't see anyone like Leggett in the 2-a playoffs.I will be yelling for Hardin as well as the rest of the 24aa clubs in the playoffs.

Paul Sims and Matt Andrews both had great years for Warren. Sims averaged 19 and Andrews 15 for the Warriors.They were a good outside-inside combo this season.

Good luck to Hornets in the playoffs.Not sure they will get a lot out of this one though.They would probably got a lot more out of a match up with Coldsprings or possibly Brookeland.They may not have been able to schedule someone like that but it would have kept them sharp for the playoffs.

The other side of this is Newton is pretty good also.NW must have been shooting it well because Newton can get it up and down the floor very well.I haven't looked at the playoff bracket yet but Newton has a very good chance at getting to Tyler.This the kind of warm up game that will get you ready.

Matt did a great job this year for the Warriors even though in my opinion he had to play out of position.He played the low post,which allowed him to score but didn't take advantage of his outside shooting.Warren had some problems this season with consistancy but Paul Sims and Matt Andrews both had great years and will be extremely hard to replace in the Warrior line up.Sims averaged 19 points a game and Andrews 15.It was fitting in there last game both hit 25 against a good Kountze club.It's been a pleasure to watch these 2 this year.

Woodville is very good and will matchup good with Kountze.Will be a very good game.

Not sure what to expect out of Warren this year.On the plus side they have a coach this year that really knows the game.They have three kids back this year that didn't play last year that will really help.Ryan Heiselbetz,who was one of the better players in the area going in to high school before being shot in a terrible accident.This young man is a very good pitcher and can hit for power.I'll be yelling for him to make a big comeback.Mike Hooks who can also help on the mound,hits the ball well and can fly on the bases.Brandon Young,can play just about any defensive position and is another kid who is as fast as anyone around on the bases.On the down side it doesn't look like Caleb Swinney(a very good pitcher and in my opinion there best player last year) is going to play nor is Scott Carnley,a very good defensive second baseman and one of the best base hitters in the district.Ther success will depend on how Ryan and Colt Kelly hold up on the mound.They will hit the ball pretty well I believe.

I quess I can officially be called "old school" because I wouldn't care if "Lil Johhny" were as white as rice,when he pulled his jersey off and left my team on the court his season would have been over end of story.I sincerely hope JB succeeds at the next level and returns to PAM to let the kids know it's possible to make mistakes and grow from them.I for one have a hard time with the socioeconomic arguement in this particular case,if the young man could afford to go to Kelly his family can't be destitute.Got to hand it to you Dickie,you certainly know how to creat a topic.I think you and I could actually agree on a few things about the game.I enjoy your post immensely.

Congrats to all the playoff teams. As far as Warren and the rankings,it really doesn't matter.They didn't make the playoffs and that was there goal.They did however split with Hardin and Spurger and beat Jasper so they would probably have been able to hold there own with BS or HD.You would also have to move D-Ville in your final poll,they destroyed WH twice and would have done the same to Sabine Pass.

It will all depend on what kind of post presence Woden has.Hardin brings Marsh up on the top of the zone and makes it pretty easy to score down low.The key for Woden however will be to defend Marsh on the block,not sure if they have anyone can do that,he is pretty solid around the bucket.Good close game in this one,I'll pick Hardin by 4.Good luck Hornets.

The title of this thread is extremely misleading.I told ya back during the summer HJ had more guards than Buckingham Palace and thats still the case.While Trey and Jarvis are the headliners this teams destiny will be determined by players like Fontenot,Weldon and Payne just to name a few.It's very hard to keep a high school team focused and playing at a consistant level all year but Todd and his staff do it as well as anyone.To answer the question on the title of this thread,YES, but it will take a total team effort.Good luck to the Hawks in this years journey.

Great win for the ladies from Sour Lake.Put on a show for 3 quarters then defined what playoff basketball is all about ,holding off a pretty good comeback by a very athletic Wharton club.I watched these girls early in the season was very impressed.They seem to be hitting that stride again at a good time.Perhaps the most impressive thing to me last night was the way each player accepted their role and realized just how important it was the teams success.Congrats ladies and I'm sure the Tyler county bunch will see yall Tuesday.

Not sure where this thread got off coarse.EC had a great young lady that played tennis last year.Got to watch her at the regional tournament and the state tournament.EC has a definite edge in most all sports over the last 4 years(since this graduating class entered high school).The football record is 3-0 including 1 playoff victory.The basketball record 5-2 with one playoff victory.Both schools have had excellent individuals in tennis and other sports.I have coached the Warren summer team for years and always had the highest respect for EC and Kountze's programs in basketball.We knew if we could get to the level to compete with them we were headed in the right direction.I'm gonna miss the bunch of kids Warren has graduating this year.Regardless of the circumstances they always gave everything the had.Good luck to the Bucs,Kountze and Hardin in the playoffs.Hope you make 24aa proud.

My thoughts exactly bleed orange. His teamates had to be thrilled when he came back from Kelly only to leave them hanging in the middle of the season.The kids that stayed the coarse have earned the right to play in the play-in game,the one that quit forfeited that right.I hope the young man suceeds at the next level but his high school playing days should be over.

Experience is on EC's side with Tramain but Kountze has the better overall club.In years past Tramain has had some shooters to dish to when he penetrates but I haven't seen that from this years Bucs.Thomas will keep the Bucs close but Kountze wins the ball game.I think it's a little early to be buying regional tickets for either club ;)

Too many kids today don't realize it's a privelege to get to play high school basketball,it's not a right.I honestly feel sorry for this young man but the fact remains that he quit on his team.He alone made the decision to get up and leave the bench while his team was still playing a basketball game.At that moment he made a choice,be it good or bad, that he should be held accountable for.It's a shame for a kid with that kind of talent to not be able to showcase it but that choice was his ,not the coach or his teamates.I have no doubt the young man is one of the best players in the nation but in a team concept he should be treated no different than the last guy off the bench.

Darn, I got on here to answer a post I saw earlier today from a parent complaining about sub playing time and it's gone.Couldn't believe this time a year someone was complaing about that when the team was 27-5.Hard to believe the team could have done much better to this point.When you look down the HJ bench on the boys or girls squad it's hard to believe you could find a much better or more qualified group to make basketball decisions than those 2 groups of coaches.Congrats girls on a great win and a terrific season .Hope to see ya this friday.

Buna isn't young.Clark and Holmes are there 2 best players and there Seniors.The tall blonde headed kid isn't bad and he's a junior,not much help on the horizon for the Cougars.

Bucof2010 don't get me wrong I will be yelling for whoever advances out of 24aa but if you haven't seen Newton this year your gonna be surprised.They are every bit as athletic as Kountze.They don't quite have the same basketball skills but no one out of region 3 will handle them easily.Anyone who over looks them in the playoffs will be in trouble.I'm surprised the 2nd place team gets them,I thought it would have been the 3rd place club in the second round.Help me out here TopDawg,shouldnt they get the 3rd place team in the 2nd round?

Don't overlook Newton or you'll be in trouble.They have a very athletic big man and do some of the same things Kountze does on the press.They don't shoot it quite as well as Kountze but will be a matchup nightmare for EC or Hardin. Corrigan will match up well with Hardin and would be a very good game.They have a big guy to contest Marsh in the paint, he is not as good as Marsh on the offensive end but plays good defense and rebounds well.The edge in guard play would go to EC or Hardin over Corrigan.I don't know anything about Woden except they have the playoff spot that Woodville should have,they got it on a terrible call at the buzzer in a game against Woodville.I think 23aa is better than some folks give credit,Woodville didn't make the playoffs and they beat Hardin pretty soundly during the christmas break.I haven't looked at the bracket yet but I think Newton will be in the regional tournament this year.

EC 8 13 11 16 = 48 Warren 16 10 8 8 = 42 EC-Thomas-28(7/10 ft line),McDonald-6 Warren-Sims-17(3-3ptrs),Andrews-16,Nash-7 Finally got to chart the game.Very close ballgame the entire way,EC took the lead with 52 seconds left on a slam by Thomas.Warren was 3/4 from the ft line while EC was 12/20.Team fouls were very close 14 for Warren and 12 for EC,the difference being nearly all of EC were shooting fouls while Warren shot a tech and 1 shooting foul.Neither club ever got in the bonus.Good hard played ballgame by both clubs.Warren simply didn't shoot the ball enough down the stretch and had 3 critical turnovers late.

You may be to kind 24,Woodville has a very good club.
