Actually the game hasn't changed much at all over 30 years.The people that taught the presses that HJ,Ktz and EC run all ran them 30 years ago at some very successful schools.The players were just as quick and big as they are now.Time doesn't create bigger 16 year old boys.Teams play to their strengths plain and simple.The more athletic teams press because they have the personell to do so while teams without the great athletes have to control the tempo to compete.The coaches on teams that press expect to have more fouls,it's just part of the scheme.While it may surprise you what constitutes a foul hasn't changed in 30 years.For the most part it's a decision an individual makes that at least half the fans will disagree with.Somewhere this thread got way off topic,it started out being about an upcoming ballgame.It probably needs to go back to that topic.

Warren must not be to bad, they beat a good Hardin club on Tuesday and gave a pretty good EC team a very good ballgame on friday night.I haven't complained about the officiating in this game other than the difference in the # of free throws attempted and the late official.Just a quick question for any EC or Kountze fan.When was the last time either of these clubs shot 4 free throws for an entire ballgame?I personally think Warren would have won this ballgame had they not tried to delay the game and kept the ball in their shooters hands.Just my opinion for what it's worth.

I think BS has the best team no doubt,but Henry wasn't in HD last year.He gets more out of average players than anyone around.He will have his club prepared and this one will be close.

Warren has a couple of kids who can shoot it pretty well also.This game will come down to defense on the Lions part.If they create the turnovers they win the ballgame,if Warren handles the press it's close.Warren has played pretty well the second half beating Anahuac,Hardin and Buna and losing by 6 to EC and 3 to D-ville(both on the road).Kountze has to be the favorite at home but I don't think ther 30 points better.

Henry will have HD ready to play and no one beats HD by double digits at home.HD wins this one at home and creates a wreck at the top.I'll say HD by 4.

Kountze excels because the have a very good group of athletes and a coach who teaches a sound defensive philosophy.EC wins because they have a super athlete who makes everyone around him better.I will say it one more time,Warren lost the ballgame friday simply because they turned the ball over at critical times down the stretch.For 3 1/2 quarters they played well enough to win.Some of the posters on this thread have taken some shots at the Warren boys but the facts are these 2 teams were very evenly matched in Winnie on Friday night.If Warren had played as well the first round in district as they have the second they may have had a shot at a playoff spot.

Anyone who comes on this board and says they wouldn't be upset about a 23 to 4 free throw discrepancy against there team isn't being completely honest with themselves.That being said Warren still had every chance to win this ballgame had they taken care of the basketball.Uknowit,I'm not sure what your problem is with the Warriors but they have been in the playoffs 2 out of the last 3 years.They have also beatin the Bucs a couple of times in that stretch.Several of these kids have started since there sophomore season and have won on the average of 20 games a yearduring there high school careers.Good luck to EC,Kountze and Hardin in the playoffs.FYI on the game in Warren,Warren was 7/11 from the line and EC was 18/25.

Actually in basketball if you go back over the last 4 years you might be surprised at the records(there closer than you think).If you were talking to me I wasn't whining simply stating a fact about the # of free throws attempted and giving the rule when a player fouls out.Warren lost this ballgame simply because they turned the ball over to much down the stretch against a good EC club.You are correct however about the playoffs a 4 point loss to Hardin,3 point losss to DVille and a 6 point loss to EC will keep them home.They still have a solid club though and play with everything they have every week.Tonights outcome wouldn't have mattered because with Hardins win they clinched the 3rd spot.

Coach Fuller I guess we will just have to disagree on this one.I think McKinney,Elliott or Whittacre would all average close to 30 on the Oiler club because they would get all the looks.I am a big Copeland fan but the fact is he hasn't led WH to tons of victories this year.They are 4/9 in district with wins over powers like High Island and Evadale.I will give Tyler credit for being the best offensive player in the district and one of the best 3 point shooters around.That just doesnt translate into the district MVP in my opinion.I will say it again however,I watched him play all summer with the Elite club and he could play on my team anyday.

There was no tech when #11 fouled out for Warren,after the official gets the word from the scorers table he has to notify the coach who has 30 seconds to make a substitution.The coach was notified and the ball was not put in play until the sub was made.This was a very good game to watch.My only concern about the officiating was the discrepancy in the # of free throws attempted.EC shot 23 and Warren shot 4.Two of those were on a technical foul so EC was called for 1 shooting foul the entire game.Warren was 4/4 from the line so there were no missed oppurtunities.Also when one official showed up late(middle of the second quarter)and walked on the floor the whole complexion of the game changed.Not sure I would have allowed that had I been coaching.Just my 2 cents.I was proud of the kids effort,they played very hard in a tough place to win.Don't have the game charted yet but Sims shot it well from behind the arc tonight and Andrews played well in the paint.Tramain showed why he is a class act on and off the court.Good luck to the Bucs in the playoff.Great way to recover after the game at Al T'S.

I read this article today while I was sipping on some champagne I bought from the Patriots.The moral of the story is never get the coin out until the previuos game is over. : : :

In 24AA you gotta look at Tramain.He sacrificed his stats early to make his teamates better and has shown his old scoring ability recently when the Bucs had to have it.I haven't seen all Kountzes stats but if they are co champs you could make a case for co MVP with either Roman or Devin and Tramain.Marsh was the defensive player of the year last year and probably could be again(he is playing out of position at the top of the defense in my opinion).

EC is almost impossible to beat at home and is playiing good basketball right now.The Warren kids will show up and play as hard as they can.I can't predict a score but I predict I'll be at AL T'S about 8:30 regardless of the score.

Youth and playoff basketball are strange partners.Kounte and EC will put on a show but never doubt Tramain in a big game.

Gotta disagree with ya about Spurger.Without Whittacre they aren't a playoff team,everything they do goes thru the post.They have some good shooters but wouldn't be consistent without him.The same can be said about McKinney from BS.Tyler has some great stats and is a good player but on the team he is on this year the stats are misleading, he simply has to score or the Oilers don't score at all thus raising his average.The MVP in this ditrict should be the big guy off the district champ(whoever that is).Tyler should be the offensive player of the year.

Warren isn't mathmatically out of it but the road couldn't be any harder .They have EC and Kountze on the road.Hardin would have to lose to D-Ville and Anahuac and Warren win out for Hardin to lose the 3rd spot.The 2 teams Hardin has left on the schedule played them very close in the first round but we all know how EC and Kountze play at home.Hardin is still a huge favorite to get the 3rd spot,but there playoff route just got a lot tougher by going in as the 3rd seed.

Very tough place to play.West is doing a good job with that club

Great ballgame to watch.Neither team could put it away despite several runs by each club.Seemed like a lead change on every possession.Hardin did a good job on a very emotional night for the Warren seniors.Not sure why the Hornets crowd was down tonight,they have a solid club and deserve the community supports.Davis was huge tonight with 25 and Marsh was Marsh with 22.Total team effort for the Warriors,Andrews was great at the post,Sims had 4-3ptrs at clutch times,McBee played with tons of heart and Swinney hit 2 huge 3's when they needed them.Young and Nash hit shots at crucial times as well for the win.Good job guys you proved again you just don't quit.Congrats. ;D ;D ;D

I told ya there was a lot of basketball left to play.The Warren boys have been inconsistant but they can be very good when they play to there potential.D-ville and Anahuac won"t be a cakewalk either.

If you finished the game without your coach being ejected in Spurger your 1 ahead of us.We had 2 fans and 3 coaches ejected when we played there earlier this year.I gotta disagree with you CATMAN about the playoffs,they usually call those came pretty tight and the better officials from each chapter get the assignments.

Kountze is historically strong and EC has been very good over the last 4 years with Tramain leading the way.This has been a strange year for the 4-6 place teams in this district.Warren loses a 3 pt game at Deweyville and a 4 pt game at Hardin to pretty much take them out of the race.Deweyville loses in double OT to Hardin then loses to Anahuac by 15 to eliminate themselves.Anahuac looks good early but loses 2 key players to grades and there history.Overall this district is closer than some folks think 1-6.With all that being said it is a tough 2-a district but it is down a little this year from the previous 3 years.

Tramain is a tremendous player but I think he would be better served to concentrate on the defensive backfield at Arizona.There are a lot of D1 schools he could probably play at but I'm not sure about Arizona they are big time.

Still a lot of basketball left to play to be talking about 3 way ties. ;) ;)I think Kountze beats EC at the Montagne for the #1 seed.At least thts what the crystal ball says.

Tyler is a great ball player.You gotta feel for him though after playing on the club he was on last year.He would probably trade some of those points for some help.

Warren was up by around 15 and pulled the ball out.Buna was in a 2-3 and didn't pressure the ball for the first 5 minutes of the 4th.Very slow paced game from the start.Talked with one Buna fan after the game who said this was the best they had played all year.Must have been a long season for the cougars,they played hard just not a lot of basketball players coming out for some reason.Kinda sad when you look at their facilities and there trophy case.They have a very nice gym.
