I don’t know either coach but if the one you let go goes to a smaller school and then comes back and beats you on your home turf maybe the coach wasn’t the problem. Hopefully Warren will get a win against West Hardin. The rest of the schedule doesn’t look real promising.

Porter came off the bench after the first district game. Sears, White, Davis started all year and Brown started several games. I think they are going to be better than some folks do. White gets very little notoriety but is a very solid ball player.

I’m kinda new at this basketball stuff so I may be wrong. I missed badly on LCM last year but I think that had a lot to do with injury. I’ll be doing a lot of traveling this year to watch different clubs or I may even do a little officiating again. I learned a long time ago not to put to much emphasis on summer league basketball. I think Huffman is going to miss Harvey worse than HJ will miss Baxter. Wirth was a great little PG but I think he was playing on a bad knee almost all the way through district. I like HJ’s chances returning 4 starters and getting some depth from a JV that lost 1 game all season and went undefeated in district.

Should be quite the Coaching accomplishment then if they win district ( Which I believe they will ). Maybe you’ll give Davis his due then.

Yes sir. Sears , White, Brown, Davis and their post player will all be seniors I believe.

I think this years HJ club will be as good as last years by the time they tip it off. They have 4 kids returning that started at times last season and some kids that are developing nicely on the post.

We gotta quit using the old “ he made the playoffs “ phrase. The playoffs are so watered down these days that’s no longer a qualifier. We have some really good coaches in this area. If you name 10 you probably have dropped out of the great ones and in to the good ones

I don’t know how someone hasn’t already hired Omar away from HJ. Guy can straight up coach. His daughter is going to be the real deal as well.

Gotta respect Joub. He has had some players that had some discipline issues. He played with with the ones he had left. Given equal talent there’s no doubt he’s a top 10 guy

No disrespect to the BC club but I think the reason they beat HJ was the suspension of HJ’s best player and the injury to their PG. I give the Cardinals all the credit for taking advantage of the situation and their coach did an outstanding job. The players mentioned for BC are going to be hard to replace.

I think Warren is a perfect example of the difference a great coach can make. The program in Warren was , let’s just say, not very good until they hired Leland Hand somewhere around 2005. He hired Chris Carter as an assistant who later replaced him. The program was very respectable for the next several years while playing in one of the toughest districts in the state. Do I think Sutherland and Joubert would be successful at Warren? Yes I do. They wouldn’t make state tournament appearances but they would put winning teams on the floor.

The Hawks are probably kicking themselves for not making a state appearance this past year. Talent wise they matched up great with Huffman.

I gotta disagree with this one. After you get past each team’s best player Lumberton wasn’t even close to Huffman talent wise. Huffman wins that match up every time.

Granted this year’s playoff loss was a bad one. Not sure you can hold the losses to Yates against him. I definitely think he’s a top 10 guy.

Clay has consistently won 25 games while playing a tough schedule. He lost one game to a great Tiger team when Cartwright hit a 3 at the buzzer. He lost another to the same Tiger club at HJ by 3. If you charted the talent of each club these games probably shouldn’t be close. Give the guy his due. He’s successful year in and year out.

That’s said quite often but but doesn’t seem to happen as much as folks think. There’s a lot more kids that move out than there are moving in. Most of the kids that go through the HJ program are there from junior high through graduation.

RJ Sears and Trevon White are both solid returners for HJ

Coach English at Nederland is one of the best in the area. Coach Foster at Big Sandy is another top 5 guy. Barrett over at Huffman. Coach Sutherland and Coach Green.
