Lufkin was very balanced #3 had 4-3ptrs and 16 total pts,#11 had 19pts.They had 4 starters in double figures and hit 6-3's as a team.They struggled from the ft line going 13-23.Warren shot 16-21 from the line but missed some big ones late.Warren just needs to be a little more consistant.We don't seem to play very well early ,this is 2 weeks in a row.

Kountze beat em pretty bad but they lost to Splendora by 2 in Double OT 70-68.They aren't bad.

I didn't say it wasn't tough but its no tougher than Anahuacs or EC.I just think this district is going to be a lot closer this year than it was last year.Last years Kountze club hung 100 on everyone in the district except EC and Warren.I don't see that kind of seperation this year.

Score was 65-62 Lufkin.Sims 25 8/8 FT line Andrews 13 Close game start to finish.Sims fouled out midway thru the fourth.Too many missed layups and free throws late to pull out the win.Lufkin played a good ballgame and had 4 starters in double figures.Warren led by 6 midway thru the fourth 57-51 and couldn't put it away.They are 6-3 now and need to be more consistant.This is one they should have won.

Andrews is playing the post well.Team missed to many layups today and free throws at the very end.I don't think the loss of Granger has affected them,it's time for the upper classmen on this club to step up.A senior ballclub shouldn't lose these kind of games.Warren is 6-3 now and is still a better club than they were this time last year.

Never know what to expect out of the La. clubs.Spurger and Deweyville will play each other tough because they have identical strengths.Deweyville is extremely hard to beat at home so it should be a good tourney.

Travis has been recovering from a knee injury he suffered during football but he is definitely a player.Very good 3pt shooter and probably as quick as anyone on the club.There is a misconception about this club having a "big 2".While Sims and Andrews primary job is to score everyone has a role for this club to be successful.Swinney,Nash,Young ,Cody,Riley,Huelett and Blackshear all will have to contribute for this club to be successful.Good win guys keep up the hard work.

Come on Dawg lets keep it real.Kountze should be the favorite because they are the defending state champs.EC has the Thomas factor so they are automatically a contender.Now as for the other clubs in this district they are trying to get to level of Kountze and EC.While they may not be there yet they are getting closer and every club in the district has players that make them capable of competing on any night.Anahuac has played as tough a schedule as anyone in the district and Warrens hasn't been a cakewalk.Just curious as to why when Kountze plays Big Sandy it's considered brutal and when Warren plays Spurger it's a soft schedule?Both these are pretty good 1-a schools.While it's still early in the season I still think this race is gonna be close,I don't see anyone floating thru it.Don't mean to down any of the other clubs but I don't know anything about there schedules so I can't comment on them.

I think this is a home and away series for Spurger and has been for several years.Can't fault Spurger for that ,it hasn't been but a couple of years Onalaska was pretty good.Probably won't get much out of Chester but hey those kids gotta play somebody.Enjoy the win Pirates.

Team played with a lot more intensity tonight than they did this past weekend.Starting to see more contribution off the bench which will help down the road.Andrews had a big first half tonight (16 pts in the half)and Sims played well in the second scoring 14(2-3's) and pulling down 11 rebounds.The defense was excellent by the whole club.Congrats guys and keep working,good things will happen.Young and Lil Cody are giving valuable minutes also.Solid team effort top to bottom.

Don't count them out but this won't be a 2 team district race this year.There are 6 clubs in this district who will be capable of beationg each other on any given night.

Silsbee and Goodrich are both good clubs but neither has the depth of HJ.The hawks are a different club this year,they run 5 new bodies at ya and just wear you down.

I'll agree with that,he does a good job down low.Andrews does a good job for Warren on the offensive end but is a little light to defend on the block.

I wasn't downing them just don't think it's fair to compare this group to those of the last 3 or 4 years.I can promise you those clubs wouldn't have been 4-4 against the compettition this years group has played.

I would say 24 is right on,except maybe K-ville and WOS flip flop.

Hashaw isn't on the same page as Bland in the paint.

Come on now DAWG,you usually shoot pretty straight.Kountze is gonna be OK but there schedule hasn't really been brutal by any stretch.Wins against a short handed Lumberton club and Lufkins JV is not what I call brutal.This club is gonna be pretty good but they are gonna have to get some experience to reach there potential.I don't think they are gonna just show up and beat folks this year.

Don't give up on us yet CATMAN,we should have our kids back and healthy this week. ;D ;D ;D

Congrats to all the kids on the list.The one glaring ommision on this list is Brodie Parker #42 from Warren.He played FB/LB and kicked for Warren.He started every game this season with a seperated shoulder and still played the positions great.He started the final game against Buna with not only the shoulder but an ankle that was torn so bad he couldn't walk without a brace.I know there are always a few who are overlooked but this is one of the toughest kids I ever watched play the game.Congrats on your season Brody,we really enjoyed watching you.

Copeland will score at will in this one but Bland will control the game in the paint.Deweyville will win this one by a dozen. Deweyville-60 WH-48.

Silsbee will be to deep for the Bucs,plus they are playing at home .Silsbee wins by 20. Silsbee-76 EC-56

The difference in these 2 teams right now is depth and experience.HJ has the edge in both catagories.The thing everyone is overlooking about Kountze is their lack of experience.They will get it as the year progresses but there is no substitute for it and only 1 place to get it.They have some good quality players but right now they are nowhere close to the teams of the last 3 or 4 years. HJ is head and shoulders above any other small school in the area right now.

Warren-49 Matt Andrews-27 pts, Paul Sims-11 Liberty-47 Warren takes 3rd in the tourney.Kids went in to this tournament flat but came out and played hard today despite missing 2 starters taking SAT test.Matt Andrews was an all tournament selection after a huge game today.Brandon Young and Cody Andrews really played well today.Congrats guys,get back to work Monday and you'll be fine.
