  1. How did D-Ville do in there scrimmages, never saw any details ? This will be there only test before district starts. They should be ready to go in the first game at the new stadium.
  2. Paul Sims from Warren is a pure shooter. He is very consistant and had 1 game this summer where he had 9 -3's.Also shot 82% from the free throw line last year. Tyler Copeland from West Hardin is another that can really light it up from behind the arc. Jarvis Bernard from HJ shoots it real well also. JCovan and Tramain are great scorers but neither are pure shooters. Lots of small school kids out there this year that can shoot it.
  3. Got to see Shepherd tonight.EC wins this one big.
  4. Warren-1 Shepherd-1 in controlled scrimmage. Warren-19 Shepherd-7 in live 24 minute scrimmage. Shepherd's 2 TD'S came on passes to the TE #33.He also kicked the PAT. Warren looked pretty good and may have found some depth at RB. Parker looked good at FB,Morris was rested some but will be ready it looked like for the opener. Both QB's threw the ball well despite some early drops. The WR'S settled in and caught the ball well in the live scrimmage.Casey Word caught a couple of TD's and Brandon Young ran for another. The defense looked pretty good, may have to find a little depth in the secondary.Overall a pretty good performance for the Warriors.
  5. Accountable for the decision they make, these are not school activities they are a summer all star team.If they were school sponsored events such as football playoffs and basketball workouts I'm sure that would be a horse of a different color. You go to any high school and ask a varsity coach to excuse a player from practice to play in a non school related sport I don't think you would get a real warm reception.
  6. Now how could you know that after 1 scrimmage.
  7. Unless I missed something the article said continuing toward a title,it didn't say they were in the world series. This is a decision the kids have to make but one they have to be prepared to live with. When these school coaches in any sport start a season their livelyhood depends on being successful. They have to have their players committed totally to do that. While I admit the LL World Series in Williamsport is a chance of a lifetime for 12 and 13 year olds the same may not be true of some these other endeavors. We as parents have become so afraid of our kids failing we have made National titles,World Series and All Star teams for everything under the sun.I actually watched a cup stacking contest on ESPN the other day between Germany and the USA.I guess we would have to excuse them for missing school sports also.Geez!!!!I don't fault the kids for playing baseball but you can't fault the coach for holding them accountable.
  8. Spurger will have a very good big man in Whittacre and will get the edge inside.HD will have the advantage in quickness at the guard position and Henry will have them playing well.I think these 2 will be your other playoff teams.Spurger is still real yong so I'm pickin HD second.I didn't see any dominant players on Sabine Pass JV last year so I'm assuming the transfers didn't play.I didn't see any varsity kids that could compete with the top 3 in this league.I see WH and Sabine Pass 4 and 5 followed by Evadale and High Island.
  9. I didn't make it to Tarkington and Warrens scrimmage but I hear Tarkington is very big. That could cause matchup problems for the hornets.Tarkington wins by a touchdown.
  10. That's him.I couldn't remember his name but he ran awful hard last year against Warren with a playoff spot on the line.
  11. That looked to be all that was missing last year. They were also a little young.I think they will be improved under Barbay.
  12. Don't take it personal deer slayer it was from their hometown paper. How did Anahuac look under the new coach? I saw alot of atheletes on there side last year when they came to Warren.
  13. I know the small schools don't get much credit but the 2000 Brookeland club went 36-1 I believe. They won state that year along with the YMBL tourney.Won't call any names but I heard the 1 loss was a forfeit in Louisiana and involved a ball kicking incident ;D ;D ;D Of course it was late when I heard this story and there may have been bar stools involved, and no the coach didn't tell the story : : :
  14. No disrespect to Coach Foster ,his record is very commendable, however your records aren't posted in the TBM if you don't submit them.I honestly don't know what Duane and Todd's records are, heck they may not even know.I do know they are 2 of the best in SETexas and if you looked at percentages they would be at the top of the hill.Foster had 239 wins according to TBM which is great.Carter from Warren surpassed 500 at the Evadale tourney this past season which is also great. We are lucky in SETexas to have such a good group of coaches as witnessed by the teams at the Drum every year.Nothing wrong with promoting your coach, but better than these others I can't agree with that.
  15. I would have to disagree with that.Foster is a fine coach but he also doesn't have to contend with the football program or nearly as many good programs in his district year in and year out.I can't remember the last time Sutherland or Joubert were not in the playoff hunt. All 3 are very good coaches (Hargraves-E/C and Carter -Warren aren't bad either) ;)
  16. Went several times in late July and early August.Whites were going crazy on the submerged humps. The trollers had the schooling activity down a little but the jigging spoons on the bottom was unreal.
  17. Great to hear Warren played well with the kids they had out hurt.May answer some questions about depth.I really think defensively they are gonna be better than last year.I heard the RB that had moved this summer came back and played well Saturday.Good news for the Warriors.
  18. Good job ladies and congrats on a quick start this season. They went 2-0 against EC and Spurger on Friday.I think that makes them 6-1 so far, good mix of young players and seniors.Good luck the rest of the way.
  19. Nothing wrong with supporting your team, thats what your supposed to do.Just hard to pick a top 3 finish when the hornets struggled as much as they did last year and E/C,Buna,Deweyville and Warren having so many kids back.I have no doubt Hardin will be better, good luck.
  20. Sutherland and Joubert could coach anywhere that the ball was round, don't know Foster that well but the game is the same wherever it's played.
  21. Congrats to the Pirates on a beautiful new complex all the way around.
  22. You have to look at some of what happened last year when you have players returning.Example EC has Tramain,McDonald and Trammell returning off an unbeaten club so they have to be the favorite.Kountze will be greatly improved with everyone back .Deweyville had a key loss at RB but had good backups and a super JV.Warren lost a good QB and RB so they will have to step up.They have 2 very good players moving in to those positions but they also play on the defense so depth may be a problem.I don't see any DRASTIC differences from last year. The reason I picked Warren in the 3rd spot this year was because they play Dville at Warren, that's usually worth at least 6.Buna is still my pick for the second spot.Which brings me to Anahuac and Hardin, both could be improved and still not move up in the standings.
  23. I really hope yall do well this year, I just didn't see any big hitters last year when we came to Hardin and didn't see many on the JV either.Coach Haynes will do a great job but it won't happen over night.Hardin was pretty small and got in serious trouble in the trenches against Warren,Deweyville and EC.That said they will be pretty good at the skill positions and I think there record will improve 5-5 will be a possibility and should be considered the start of a turnaround.Good luck to the hornets and the rest of 24aa.
  24. 4 that started every game and another one that started at least half.
  25. I haven't seen them since last year so I can't argue that point. Not sure how much depth they will have.Tiffany will do a good job and I hear good things about the coach.I would have it in Tiff's hands every possession but thats just me.In all fairness to the girls last year they were 1-11 but at least 5 of those games were 4 points or less and were very winable (sp) games.Hope they do well they are a great group of young ladies.
