  1. I don't have a problem with them playing in the holiday tournaments.I just don't think it's fair for them to play in games with district playoff implications. That's why I said the district chairs should look at it.The playoff picture could be determined by timing of the holiday break or the timing of the schedule.
  2. I had never heard of this in district contest until last year.It happened last year in the boys division and the year before in a girls district.District games fell during the holiday break and players were able to play in this 2 week period and were then inelgible again.I personally think the district chairs should take a real close look at this.Timing on the schedule should not be a factor in district playoff races.I can see where it might be acceptable in tournaments or non district games but not with playoff spots on the line.JMO
  3. Last year they would have been competetive in both football and basketball but I'm not sure they would have made the playoffs in either sport. They beat Warren by 2 points in football (2 missed extra points) and 3 turnovers inside the 10.And they beat Warren's basketball team by 2.The basketball series would have been fun to watch. No disrespect but WH graduated some real good players, I dont think they would want to be in 24aa this year in either sport.
  4. Theres a pretty good club taking shape in Sour Lake.Big girls getting better and some kids coming back who can get up and down the floor and play really good "D".The coach says they won't be bad, that usually translates into a 20 win season.Coach Kellum will also have em ready to roll in Silsbee. 1.Silsbee-Good coach, lots of returning players. 2. HJ-See post above-ditto 3. Orangefield-Takes awhile for freshmen to adapt,it's a different world.
  5. Mine is on the slide but I can't touch a -47.Big Daddy is the man !!!!!!
  6. I hope he does well next year.I didn't see those kind of numbers last year but I didn't see him play but 4 times.I never saw him attempt a 3 during a game.If he can shoot the 3 and is 6'5"he will get some looks.
  7. Big Sandy will win it followed closely by HD and Spurger.
  8. If he stays in coaching Kelly Carter will probably be on the short list.He is a local boy who would do a good job.How many kids does Brookeland return?
  9. Kevin is definitely the key for the pirates. Not sure what his grade issues were but he will need to keep his grades up to play at the next level.I really don't know what position he would play at the college level .Not many 6'5" Centers in college,if he develops an outside shot he could probably play the small forward.I think you have his stats a little high.I hope he stays focused, seems like a good kid who always plays hard.
  10. The "Hawk Hecklers" gave her a 2 rating on the dismount and she moved to an unknown district in shame : : :
  11. I gonna have to disagree with ya on this one Dickie.Kountze has a great tradition but they are goona be down a little from last year.Lord they graduated 5 kids who went on to play college ball.E/C and Kountze will definitely be the pre season favorites this year but Warren returns several good ball players and will match up pretty well with most folks this year.I'm not baseing this on summer league games,I'm looking at returning starters for all the clubs.I honestly think there are gonna be several clubs next year in this district capable of beating each other.Just curious, how many games have you seen Warren play the last couple of years?
  12. Spurger has a kid coming up who looks to have all the tools to be a player.I think he is Whitakers little brother. Not sure of his name.
  13. Great news.Talked with Duane at Kountze tonight and he says Ashton is home and will recover fine.Best of luck on a speedy recovery Mr.Hall.
  14. You folks are selling HJ way to short for the upcoming season. While there is no doubt Donahoe will be impossible to replace the cupboards are not bare at Sour Lake.I have watched these kids a lot this summer and they are gonna be very quick on the defensive end and have a ton of scoring ability with Burrell,Bernard,Fontenot,Guillory,Weldon and Payne.Thats not even mentioning Sungren (no disrespect to him just haven't seen him play this summer)add McNeely in the mix and you aren't gonna be bad.I don't know what Central has coming back but I think Kountze and EC both beat them last year.HJ wins this game at home or on the road.
  15. Somebody shake Dickie and wake him up before he makes a complete idiot out of himself.Your right it was a summer league game no big deal. But 50 come on now Dickie, Kountze graduated a lot of really good players, don't give em the title just yet.
  16. WOW!!!!! If thats all he was saying he sure wasted alot of ink.Lumberton will be better.Playoffs , probably not but better than last year.
  17. Thats why I said Thomas in the district race. No disrespect to Gibson but the yards will come alot easier in Deweyvilles non district schedule than they will in EC's.The defenses in the district race will be pretty good.E/C,Buna,Warren and Kountze will all be solid on defense.I think Deweyville and Anahuac will both rely on there offense.
  18. He played in a freshman and jv bball tournament at EC a couple years back. You could tell then he was gonna be a player regardless of the sport.
  19. No doubt about it.No one will argue that point.
  20. I think Kountze will have the biggest turnaround. They were real young last year and were not that far from being a playoff club last year. They have a lot of speed in the skill positions. They could very easily get a playoff spot this year.
  21. I have been watching him the last couple of years. The potential for that kid is unlimited. He was probably held back a little because Leday was such a solid player.
  22. Pantherfan, The Warren kid's dont even get on this site, with the exception of Matt every once in a while. These kids know they don't have a playoff spot locked up.They are a typical summer leauge team, they play pretty well when all the kids show up,which has been once this summer.I totally agree with you about the district race all the spots will be open.Summer league games are good only to keep the kids in the gym ,nothing more nothing less. You are right on about WH ,Tyler is gonna be a lot of fun to watch but losing Letsinger,Simmons and Tomlinson is gonna be devastating this year.I think EC will be the district favorite this year in 24aa but EC,Kountze,Warren,Deweyville,Hardin and Anahuac will all be capable of beating each other. This race will come down to the 3 teams that can pull out a few wins on the road.
  23. Actually I did know what Ozen did this year with a young team.I know several of the kids that are coming back this season ,good kids.I have nothing against Ozen or Boutte just an unbiased observation.I am not from Ozen or HJ.I watched every game at this years state tourney but 1.I saw some very good coaching moves in every division 1a thru 5a.Boutte did a super job getting the panthers to the finals.I just happen to think there were a few coaches there that did a better job in the championship games.Don't put the "they" label on me just because I happen to disagree with you.Boutte is super coach but there are more than a few out there that understand the game as well as he does. You gotta admit having some talent doesn't hurt.Makes for a lively topic for the off season don't it.
  24. In strictly district games Tramain will have the most rushing yards from the QB position.Warren and Deweyville both graduated real good running backs but both return lots of folks on the line and pretty solid young backs ready to move up.I also think the young tailback from EC is gonna be the next marquis player in the district.
  25. Ozen should win simply because they have a deeper talent pool to draw from.I don't buy the superior coaching.I watched both clubs in Austin this year and the better coached team this year wasn't from the pear orchard.
