No disrespect to the kid from EC but the best catcher I've seen in this district is a senior from Hardin.I think his name is Emirillo Z(won't even attempt to spell his last name)kid has more heart than anyone I've watched in years.

NO, Coaches have to able to upgrade their jobs each year if they are successful.A lot of good coaches start out in the small school ranks and win then move up the ladder. We as fans can't hold it against a coach who makes the playoffs and the moves up while the resume looks good. It's just the nature of the game, enjoy the good ones while you got em.

That pretty well wipes out any playoff hopes. Not what this club was looking for,at least they played it close.Saw on another thread where the wind was at 50 and raining. Why in the world would you be playing in that??????????????

**Warren @ Anahuac Predictions**
whsalum replied to GoatHerder's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Warren led big in the first meeting before unraveling in the 7th.With Swinney due to start they will be in the hunt.I like the Warriors chances in this one.Warriors tighten the race 8-6. -
I have watched a ton of Lamar games over the last several years and I honestly don't know why Ryan would want to go to Lamar. He definitely has the talent to play there but I don't see it as a real good fit for him.Evidently there is someone interested enough already to make the young man an offer, sometimes a bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush.Good luck Ryan with whatever uniform you wear when you come to the Montagne.

Best Returning players in 22-4a? Please Reply
whsalum replied to basketballislife's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
I have to respectfully disagree. The topic was best returning players(plural)in 22-4a.With each team listed.I am not from Lumberton and the last game I saw them play I officiated.I do know talent when I see it and if I had to build a team in Lumberton it would definitely have Ward on it.You would be amazed at what can happen when you get a hard working bunch of kids,a good coach and a couple of skilled players.I have seen Ward play on tournament teams with some really good players and he holds his own. -

It's not a waste of his time if it improves his game.He is a junior and will definitely help the Lumberton team.If only college bound kids played in the off season there would be a lot of 1 on 1 games. The teams you see in the regular season that are successful all have lots of kids who play some sort of organized ball in the off season.Ward plays pretty well and is the type of hard worker that will help turn a program around. You gotta start somewhere and Coach Henry will definitely use Ward to get Lumberton started in the right direction. They are however in a brutal district. -
Marsh is a solid player. Not sure how he made defensive player of the year though offense was his strength.Hardin looked to have lost a lot of kids to graduation.

He was on the all district team ,so someone thought he was in the top 20.I watched him play last year and watched him play 4 games in Chad Coopers tourney last weekend. The kid passes the ball well and hustles every second he is on the floor. The tournament team he is on includes Jarvis Bernard,Josh Payne and Ryan Weldon from HJ.Marcus Malbrough from WB,Stephen Moten and Derek Savoy from Ozen and Paul Sims from Warren. Not any scrubs in the group.Give him a break he may help turn your Raiders around. -
Aaron is gonna be a real good ballplayer, but he's only a freshman.Give him a little time to develop before you put that kind of pressure on him. There are some really solid players in SETEXAS this year.Riley from Woodville would be on that list as well as Reese Winters. These are 2 small school guys that can play.

Evidently you know less about basketball than you do manners and I thought that was impossible.Johnathan Ward is a very solid basketball player,he is the kind of kid who works extremely hard and will make the kids around him better. The new coach down there will turn them around and Ward will be one of the guys to start it. -
Isn't Kountze in last place in this district? Not sure what the standings are,but I thought EC was in 3rd.
-
I know Jake and Brock were both making very good players going in to high school,I hope they get a chance to play on a good team. They are both good kids.

He plays school ball for Lumberton,I was commenting on the no talent what so ever statement. He plays tournament ball for the slam,he's pretty solid and was an all district pick this year. -

IndianPride evidently you have never seen Ward play.I got a chance to watch Nederlands entry in Coopers tourney last weekend and Ward was better than anyone they had on the floor. Not downing Nederland but your comment was uncalled for.Ward was solid this year and is the most unselfish player I have seen in years.Thats a lost art these days. -
24-2a Baseball Who has the youngest squad?
whsalum replied to oldschoolkat's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Warren will lose Kirkpatrick,Rawls,Babino and West all have started most of the games I've seen this year. They will be pretty solid though because their young guys are getting a lot of playing time. -
What in the world has happened to the Chester atheletic program?I know they have some pretty good atheletes in this age group.
-
Tramain will be the top no doubt,McBee will make some big plays also for Warren

24-2A Predictions for next year??
whsalum replied to Bobcatfan4life's topic in SETXsports Archived Threads
Travis McBee was a junior,he will be a lot faster than Granger was but will have to develop throwing the ball since the position is fairly new to him.He is a super athelete and will do a great job at QB.If you think Travis Swanson just stands around you will be in for a shock, kid is very big but is also quick and a extremely strong kid.The biggest challenge for Warren will be to see if Morris can fill Esway's shoes, everything else will be about what it what this year. -
Warren at Deweyville was the tale of 2 halves.Warren jumped out to a huge lead but Deweyville came back in the second half to take a 6 point lead. The game ended with Warren at the Deweyville 10.Great high school battle featuring Williams and Esway.Definitely worth the money.
-
Warren's mens doubles team of Tyler Word and Scott Carnley won 1st,Sammy Michell and Brandi Jacobson won the mixed doubles title.Paul Sims and Travis McBee were the 2nd place team in doubles and Casy Word finished 2nd in singles.Congrats guys and gal on the regional births.

Down 11-1 and came back, now that was fun to watch.Good job guys. -
That was a very special group.Brody Parker and Ryan Heizelbetz were as good of young hitters as I have ever seen.Ryan was injured in an accidental shooting and was lucky to survive his freshmen year.As well as they hit the ball defense was their strength. If you hit it anywhere in the infield that group would throw you out. They could have defitely helped.

Andrews is 6'4" ,Paul is 6'3" but he won't turn 17 until school is out and is still growing. They both are as far as that goes.Warren will put a pretty big club on the floor next year for a 2-a school.
