  1. None of Warren's kids are gray headed, there pretty young too.Four juniors and one senior start so age should be pretty even.Should be a real good ballgame.Let's go Warriors.
  2. Newton is very athletic, but the "game of their life".Come on that was just plain ugly.I would venture to say that is as bad as HJ has played this year.Surely you haven't forgotten what it's like to play Kountze and EC.
  3. I know warm up games are hard to evaluate teams in so I'm throwing what I saw at the Montagne out the window. That being said I would go with HJ and Kountze to have the deepest runs. Both clubs have a ton of playoff experience and a lot of senior leadership which will help them from here on out.High school basketball is all about matchups and these 2 clubs are about as even 1-5 as I've seen so thats my reasoning for the prediction.EC and WH both have good clubs and I don't mean any of this in a disrespectful way just think the other 2 are deeper.Congrats to all the local clubs still playing, there aren't any bad teams left.
  4. Coming in to high school Brodie Parker was as good a young power hitter as I have ever seen.I know he had some shoulder injuries that were corrected by surgery.I saw him hit 7 or 8 out of the high school park as a 14 year old.Not sure when he lost his stroke if in fact he has.I haven't seen them play lately so I really can't say.I do know there is a lot of baseball talent in Warren,I think the new coaches need to talk to all the kids and let them know the program is going in the right direction. The downward spiral in this program started a couple of years ago and won't be corrected overnight, but it will be corrected as long as they leave the young coaches alone.Good luck Warriors on the upcoming season.
  5. It must be tough to labor the whole game and just score 39.Come on now, when Donahoe saw his club had to have a bucket he went and got it.For some reason the other guys were not shooting the ball.I am a huge Thomas fan and he is a super player, but Donahoe is the #1 guy in SETexas.
  6. I have to disagree about the pitchers. While Warren may not have any dominate pitchers their are several in the gym that would help tremendously.Probably the best 4 they could put on the mound,if they play.Granger signed a letter to play football and I don't know if he will play but he would be their #1 starter,Swinney was hurt last year but is very capable of pitching at the 2-a level(pretty good speed and a good breaking ball)Sims sat out last year to concentrate on basketball and still plays AAU ball so I don't know if he'll play(not overpowering but he has very good control and Willis could do wonders with him)and Kelly who is a sophomore and got some innings last year. You could put a defense behind these kids that would win alot of ballgames.Add the younger Babino boy and Carnley to the 3 you had earlier, then pick up Rawls and Blackshear and you could have a VERY competetive team this year.I think these new coaches will eventually get the interest back in the program.I sure hope so for the boys sake.
  7. I would think HJ and WOS would both pose the same type match up problems for WH,both are big at the post and have super quick kids at the guard position.Between these 2(WOS and HJ)the real difference is in shooters.HJ has them falling off the end of the bench. These games will be played as a warm up so I don't look for any huge blowouts but that doesn't mean all the teams will be equal or close in talent.WH should take this invitation as a compliment on a very good season nothing more, nothing less.Congrats to all the area playoff teams.
  8. Kountze 7-22-32-20 81 Warren 5-14-14-16 59 Warren-Granger-16,Sims-11,McBee-11,Andrews-10 Kountze-Powell-23,Boykin-12,Haynes-12,Busby-11
  9. Kountze will be hard to stay with if they are focused and I think they will be with EC on the horizon.
  10. Why in the world would West Sabine want to hold the ball?I could understand Broaddus if they still had the injuries, but I thought West Sabine had some atheletes ??? ??? ???
  11. WH has the better player,BS has the deeper club.I personally like depth in big games so I am going with BS by 6.Should be a great game with even better atmosphere. The mommas and daddies better charge the camcorders up ,you will probably want to watch this one over and over ;D ;D ;D ;D
  12. Our kids played them this summer. They have a pretty solid club and will play a good style to keep EC sharp for their showdown with Kountze. They have both size and speed so it will be a pretty good game.EC wins it at home by 15.
  13. Keep an eye on Tyler Word and Scott Carnley from Warren, they are playing doubles but both are pretty solid.Tyler went to the state tourney last year in doubles and passed up basketball to work on his tennis game.(Sure hated to see that)
  14. Thats not completely true.Broaddus beat West Sabine friday night the only way the could,by letting the air outta the ball 16-13.That tied them for the district crown. That coach scored 16 and he is a genius.
  15. If Broaddus still has their injuries their coach did what he had to do to win.Gotta take your hat off to that. The kinda discipline it takes to do that is very rarely found these days.Congrats to all 3 clubs.
  16. If HD plays Chireno with the speed they have it may get ugly.Chireno will play pressure "D" and really push the ball.Plus they have some kids who can shoot it.Not a good combo for HD.
  17. I looked in the box scores and didn't see Jason Henry's name in there so this score could not have been his fault.I'll agree with Lazeek,he is is the best thing Lumberton basketball has going for it.He is a quality coach playing this year with a short deck,it happens. The players need to look inside the jerseys for the answers to these questions, not at the coach. Also to say white kids can't run the floor makes about as much sense as saying black guys can't coach.Thats INSANE : : :
  18. setxslam, The set worked beautifully BOTH times we ran it.Not one of our better nights.Came out extremely flat in the 3rd quarter and scored only 8.It was pretty much over from there.Tramain basically took it over scoring 27.The rest of the bucs were pretty quiet tonight.
  19. Warren has been improving all year.I felt like they actually took a step back tonight.I don't know if it was having a playoff spot clinched or what but they didn't play with much desire tonight.Big crowd but the gym was as quiet as I have ever heard it.Sims hit his first 2 threes and then shot 1 more time the rest of the night.Tramain had a great game but the rest of the Bucs looked like they were looking ahead to Kountze.Warren looked like a club tonight that was satisfied with just staying close.Overall not one of their better efforts.Hope they get focused before the Newton game.Good luck in the playoffs to Kountze,EC and the Warriors.
  20. If that wasn't a misprint that's about as ugly as it gets.
  21. I hope Granger plays, he could definitely help the staff. If he is healthy Caleb Swinney is probably a little harder to hit.Colt Kelly got some experience last year as a freshman and will improve even more this year.If Paul Sims plays he can throw it in a coffee cup and could give some valuable innings. There are probably no aces on this staff but they could definitely get the job done as a group.Does Ryan Heiselbetz still go to school at Warren?Thats 1 you could build around!!!!!Go Warriors.
