  1. They don’t shoot it outside very well. They rely on the post game down low.
  2. Not sure what all this means. BC showed up and played hard for 4 quarters and got the W. Gotta tip your cap to em. They deserved the win, does that one game change a seasons worth ? When the season is recapped BC will probably finish somewhere around 18-10 overall and were 7-5 in district. That’s pretty much the definition of average. They did beat HJ and in the playoffs you either win or go home. No excuses for the Hawks they didn’t play good enough to win .
  3. The teams I mentioned are above average. They may not be San Antonio good but they ain’t shabby. There’s several 2a clubs that are above average up north of here but they are all in the same district.
  4. I think you misread my logic. I give BC all the credit in the world for winning the Bi District round. They came out and played hard and didn’t quit and deserved the win. My point was the playoff format is so watered down these days that being history making isn’t always a great team accomplishment. There are several teams in our area who are above average this year. Huffman, EC, New Waverly are 3 that come to mind. I would even say when you look at an entire seasons work that HJ was above average. In the playoffs all that doesn’t count if you don’t show up and play your best basketball.
  5. Thank you sir. Maybe some day I will measure up to the lofty bar you set .
  6. Excuse me I thought this was a message board. Should I ask your permission to speak?
  7. Just for grins I’ll use a Houston Scarborough football team that made school history a few years back when they made the playoffs going 1-9 on the season and 0-4 in their conference. Sometimes we need to dig a little deeper into historical data 😂. I’ve beat this horse to death 😂😂
  8. And I agree with your point. No reason to have any kind of champion until you get to the regional tournament
  9. That’s only partially true. HJ was a co district champion which lost a seeding game and was a # 2 seed.
  10. It has everything to do with a different time/different place. In years past where you didn’t take 4 teams to the playoffs a good runner up team stayed home. Now days a very average team can make “playoff history “ when in fact there might have been better clubs in “school history “ that didn’t make the “playoffs “.
  11. History is being watered down. In the days of UIL making money the driving factor it’s not uncommon for a average or in some case well below average team to “ make the playoffs “. A team such as BC that can get hot from behind the arc and can get hot and beat ya. I’m not ready to call that historic from an accomplishment stand point. Call me old school but I prefer the days when the district champion made the playoffs and everyone else went to the diamond.
  12. HF has a post player that’s a pretty solid player. He was injured midway through the season and looked like he was a little out of shape in the last two games against Huffman and HJ. If the Tigers take him away I don’t think the HF guards shoot it well enough to beat the Tigers
  13. So now winning a 1st round playoff game is making history?? Lord we have started getting way to loose with the making history stuff. I’m not sure why but at every level of sports we see teams get complacent early in the playoffs. Usually if they are lucky enough to pull out those early playoff victories You see see them play much better as the competition gets tougher. That didn’t happen this time. Bridge City was down by 16 in the second half and refused to quit. You gotta respect that as a fan of the game. Both clubs had a great fan base yesterday and the atmosphere was what makes high school basketball the best ticket in town.
  14. I think many years ago they lost to Jasper early in the playoffs but I’m just going on memory
  15. The Hawks just struggled with consistency almost all season. Credit Bridge City today for making some defensive adjustments and taking the inside game away in the second half. The game came down to free throws in the 4th quarter, the cardinals hit theirs and the Hawks didn’t.
  16. The difference in this one was missed opportunities from the line.
  17. BC scores 2 in the 2nd quarter at HJ scores 3 in the 4th.
  18. HJ scores 3 in the 4th with 38 second left can’t make a ft
