I’ve been on this board for years and never seen it so quiet. What’s killed the chatter? Is is it Covid or just the overall drop off in play in the area?? In a normal season the post are updated several times an hour, this year they stay up for days. I miss the old board 😂😂

Are Hamshire’s injuries season ending or will they get all their guys back? I didn’t see but one on the bench last Friday but it looked like he was nursing a serious leg injury. -

Looking back at this game I think depth was a huge factor. HJ’s big kid got in early foul trouble and sat out most of the 2nd quarter but the 2 kids that came off the bench did an excellent job behind him. The Hawks went 9-10 deep last night and I believe that was the difference in the ballgame. I don’t know if Huffman was missing some but they only dressed 8 at the varsity level and didn’t seem to use them all. If both clubs avoid injuries and illness they should be looking at a seeding game. Both teams will be returning good numbers of players and have very evenly matched JV clubs so this head to head should turn into a pretty good rivalry going forward. -

Did you make the trip down no-look?? -
Warren has struggled to win the close games this year it looks like.

I would have lost money on the Bears this season. They have fallen off the cliff. -

I wasn’t aware of district policy. It’s different in every district -

I didn’t see but one player on IR list last night but I don’t know how many they were missing. Did get a good look at the young man on the JV. -

If Silsbee gets their players back I look for them and Lumberton to have a seeding game at the end of the season. I don’t see Hamshire beating Silsbee but their athleticism could give the Raiders a close game -

The bar may have been set a little higher than it realistically should have been. HF probably will finish 4th in this district if they get their injured player back and healthy. They should make the playoffs. -

All about matchups. EC applies the pressure and Buna doesn’t handle it real well. -
Shepherd 52 Hamshire-Fannett 49/FINAL
whsalum replied to WOSgrad's topic in High School Boys Basketball
I gotta respectfully disagree with part of this statement. I’ve said repeatedly that depth is HJ’s biggest asset. Early in the season they were without their big man, Sears and Trayvon. They lost an OT game to Barbers Hill but won several games with those players missing. Shepherd isn’t a bad club but their district record can be deceiving. I personally think their win against HF was an upset but the wins against Liberty, Splendora and Livingston were expected. I hate to see any high school clubs have to battle injuries but it is part of the game. -

Longest drought I can recall in Kountze though. A good young group is coming but they’ve been down for awhile now. -

Losing any starters at the 4A level is gonna hurt. I would have thought HF would have beaten Shepherd though even short handed. -

whsalum replied to AggiesAreWe's topic in High School Boys Basketball
I think this was Splendora’s first district win. Even with a couple of injuries this one surprised me. HF goes to 2-3 in the first round of district I believe. The Longhorns finish up the first half of district play Tuesday at home against HJ. My biggest question about Tuesday game is how they are gonna go about letting people in the door. It’s a smaller venue even before the Covid spacing. -
Because of Covid this is just wishful thinking

I would love to see a United vs HJ girls matchup as a warm up . The Lady Hawks need a competitive game before the playoffs start and I’m not sure they can find one locally. They got something special brewing in Sour Lake and the scary part is they are extremely YOUNG.
