Livingston finished 4th in a district that has gotten considerably better due to UIL realignment. Looks like they have a lot of the same players returning. I don’t see them finishing any better than 4th and this will be a struggle.

All this may be true but that still doesn’t change the fact that the Huffman coach is a good one. He can’t control who is in his district. They normally came to the Hardin Jefferson Marathon every year and played some pretty good teams there. -

I think depth is HJ’s biggest improvement this year. They are getting good minutes from the back up post player and the guards -

Not real sure but I don’t think his team that lost to Silsbee lost but 3 games that year. I know they had two good little shooters and a solid post player. That was the best club I’ve seen at Huffman in recent years. -

This is good to see. They struggled terribly from the line against Lufkin. -

He doesn’t look like your typical player he just gets it done day in and day out. Really solid little player. -

Last years Huffman team I don’t think was anywhere near their best. They had a very good record I think in part to their coaches abilities. I’ve watched the guy for years and always thought he got everything out of his club they had to give and then some. He’s one of the local coaches that can take his team and beat ya or he could take your team and beat ya. I’d have to say the Huffman team who lost to Silsbee a few years ago that had the good post player was their best that I’ve seen. -

So if HJ returns almost everyone they didn’t gain experience? The game at HF where HJ played without the player some think is their best came down to a put back at the buzzer. The game was actually decided on a technical foul call where HJ had controlled a rebound late. The player you mentioned on the JV is a good player but it’s worth mentioning that HJ won the JV district. I look forward to the games this year. -

I hate to pick specks with ya but they were Co-Champs and won the seeding game. They had a good club and a great player -

I guess everyone has an opinion about players and coaches . If what you say is true HJ has nearly everyone back from last year. One of their best players missed the game at HF so they should have him this year. Do you think HF made great strides in improving or do you think HJ regressed? I think Coach Davis is as good as there is in the area making in game adjustments. I guess we’ll have to wait and see. -
Football game tonight and basketball ball tomorrow at noon and a game Monday 😳that ain’t much practice time 😂

I would like to see the head to head matchups by position. It’s hard for me to believe HF wins that match up. I also think HJ has some kids that just know how to play the game. As far as the coaching comparison I’d have to say that’s strictly a matter of opinion. Coach Rideaux has a pretty short resume as a head coach. -

No need to read more in to this game than there was. Both clubs were extremely short handed. The Hawks had 2 starters and a couple of players who get significant minutes missing and 3 starters and one of the first players off the bench who just got through playing football and had a couple of walk thru practices. Some young players on both sides looked pretty good and should add much needed depth this year, -

Did any of the kids who were on the really good junior high team play last night for Silsbee ? This was typical early season basketball, you have to read a lot more than the box score to get the total picture. The one thing that’s overlooked is the caliber of players that HJ was missing. Some underclass men for both schools got some solid minutes last night. With the elimination of the tournaments this year that’s a plus no matter the score. -

Biggest takeaway from tonight’s game for me was Silsbee has some young guns who are gonna be able to shoot it and HJ is gonna have a lot of depth. The 2 HJ kids who were missing are starters and very solid players -
