  1. I would like to see the head to head matchups by position. It’s hard for me to believe HF wins that match up. I also think HJ has some kids that just know how to play the game. As far as the coaching comparison I’d have to say that’s strictly a matter of opinion. Coach Rideaux has a pretty short resume as a head coach.
  2. No need to read more in to this game than there was. Both clubs were extremely short handed. The Hawks had 2 starters and a couple of players who get significant minutes missing and 3 starters and one of the first players off the bench who just got through playing football and had a couple of walk thru practices. Some young players on both sides looked pretty good and should add much needed depth this year,
  3. Did any of the kids who were on the really good junior high team play last night for Silsbee ? This was typical early season basketball, you have to read a lot more than the box score to get the total picture. The one thing that’s overlooked is the caliber of players that HJ was missing. Some underclass men for both schools got some solid minutes last night. With the elimination of the tournaments this year that’s a plus no matter the score.
  4. No both of them played with only one practice I believe.
  5. Biggest takeaway from tonight’s game for me was Silsbee has some young guns who are gonna be able to shoot it and HJ is gonna have a lot of depth. The 2 HJ kids who were missing are starters and very solid players
  6. HJ 94 Silsbee 62 final
  7. HJ 79 Silsbee 39 end of 3rd
  8. The Hawks are missing a couple of starters and one of the first off the bench. May be Silsbee Lite vs HJ Lite
  9. I heard Lumberton had a post player back who didn’t play last year who is a big body. I know HJ has 2 or 3 starters still playing football. Overall I hear it was a good scrimmage between HJ Lumberton and United.
  10. I don't know what the other teams in the region look like but Hardin has an extremely consistent program. They always get everything their players have to give and then some .
  11. HJ is at Pearland Dawson I believe
  12. I saw Livingston last year. They don’t wanna try and run with HJ or match up size wise with HF. They may be in contention for 4th.
  13. I can’t imagine a high school basketball game with no fans ☹️
  14. Livingston may be in a dogfight for the last playoff spot but I don't see them Playing HJ, Huffman of HF close.
  15. I wouldn’t think the UIL would have any control over an athlete leaving a UIL school going to a private academy.
  16. I don’t think anyone is insinuating that. This rule doesn’t apply to only certain schools. Every team in every district has the same options . The rule is pretty well cut and dry. Students can’t transfer for athletic purposes. If there’s an issue with that do away with the rule.
  17. If the opportunities and programs haven’t changed it sure leads one to believe that the move was made for athletic purposes which is the reason for the rule. I hope for the young mans sake this is resolved quickly where he can concentrate on his game. I’m sure he just wants play ball.
  18. Did he transfer for athletic purposes? If so and the incoming district recognized it the rule worked as intended.
  19. I personally think kids should play high school sports where they live . It eliminates chasing programs and the attempts to follow coaches or programs. If a family decides to go to a private institution in search of a better education I can certainly respect that. If said transfer allows you to play for your dad that’s even better. My question would be did the academics suddenly deteriorate at said institution ? Does dad no longer coach where the young man attended school? Has anything changed at the UIL district where the player resides ? I personally don’t care one way or the other but I can see where there would be questions. I will say it was a lot more fun watching HF last year than it has been in the past few years.
  20. I imagine every transfer is scrutinized these days.
  21. I don’t have access to the particulars of this case but I can bet my bottom dollar that district superintendents and athletic directors didn’t vote against eligibility based on rumor.
  22. You may have seen it happen. I haven’t seen it but then again I’ve never sat in one of these meetings. I have however had close dealings with many superintendents over the years and eligibility requirements of athletes wasn’t high on their list of priorities. I can assure you I’m not naive. I also think that if you aren’t going to hold people accountable for the rules you need to do away with the rules.
  23. The DEC doesn’t deal in what ifs and maybes. They are a committee of Leaders of not only the district athletic departments but also the entire school systems. For them to deny eligibility there had to be proof of a rules infraction. There’s nothing new in the rule book.
