I think we’re saying the exact same thing . In this most recent case the kid isn’t being denied the right to play. He can still play where he did last year and the year before.

I think it’s important to know who makes up the DEC. It’s not comprised of basketball coaches. The voting members of a DEC are Superintendents and Athletic Directors. To think school Superintendents got together to intentionally deny eligibility for one basketball player would be a stretch to say the least. I never understood why anyone would want to play basketball or any other sport anywhere in high school where he didn’t live. If a kid isn’t good enough to start in the BU program he probably isn’t going to get a scholarship to play college basketball by transferring to HF. I have no idea what the facts of this case are but if someone is denied eligibility there’s more to it than a group getting together and deciding to vote against a kid. The votes usually go in favor of the kids if there’s any doubt.

Yes they do. They were absolutely destroying people last year as 7 th graders!!

Not much help coming from the underclasses. I think they do have a new face or two.

HJ has almost everyone coming back plus some solid kids off a JV that won their district. They should be fun to watch

This is an interesting prediction. I think HJ will be better than they were last year. I know Silsbee has some good young freshmen coming but players like Bush are impossible to replace. Should be fun to say the least. All 3 games last year were nail biters.

If that’s the case they are going to have a floor full of freshman doing unreal stuff. Bush may have been the best high school player I’ve ever seen.

I’m curious what Lumberton has to help McClure as well?? I know they graduated heavy and I didn’t see a ton of help coming from the underclass men . Coach Mitchell does a great job but his work is cut out for him this year.

That’s misleading in the high school game. You don’t upgrade talent if you play by the rules, you play with the kids from the community. I don’t claim to know where any of the players in this district live but there were a lot of new faces on the floor. On the bright side almost all are coming back and the Horns will have a couple of more new ones. Should be fun. I hope the virus has subsided where all us fans can watch.

So playing on the road without your best player is an excuse? Come on man . If we just want to state facts the Horns split with the Hawks and Tigers last year. That feat , while admirable, garnered them a 4th place finish. I hope the Horns are good because it makes the games so much more fun to watch. Just for the record I think Coach Rideaux is a great coach. I just think the district champion predictions are a little premature.

They beat HJ in Fannett with HJ’s best player on the sidelines with a boot on his foot. I’ve watched a lot of basketball over the Last 60+ years so I’d like to think I’m somewhat informed. HF is definitely better than they have been in several years but that doesn’t change the fact that they did finish 4th in the district. I just ain’t convinced we should have them cutting down the nets just yet.

HF’s recent successes are a 4th place finish in a 7 team district. Stop the presses folks a new dynasty has been started. I personally don’t care who plays where but lord let’s not induct anyone into the Hall of fame here.

Or maybe there’s a long standing UIL rule against transferring for athletic reasons. I don’t personally care who plays where but let’s at least be honest about why they are transferring. If the UIL and the DC doesn’t have a problem with it let em play.
