  1. Very informative article on what really happens .
  2. I agree with this 100%. Silsbee took an absolute great player and a very good one and rode them into the regional tournament this season. You gotta tip your cap to that. I felt like last years club underperformed and this years overperformed. The region is definitely down this year.
  3. The pressure they put on the ball combined with their length makes them tough
  4. I’m guessing the bus didn’t break down 😂
  5. I listened at the Kountze vs Woodville game the other night and it sounded like the Freshman from Woodville put that club on his back. I don’t even know his name but was wondering who has seen him play and what the future holds for this young man.
  6. Just looking at next years returners HJ will have Wirth , Porter , Samaha , Sears as returning starters. Kids that got a ton of playing time included Akhtar , Moore , Ogle , White and Martin. They will pick up several off a JV that was very good. The kids that were Sophomores this year did not lose but 2 games as Freshman and can flat out play. I like the Hawks chances . I’m gonna go out on a limb here and bet HJ doesn’t overlook HF next year. I wish the new season started tomorrow but I’ll have to wait.
  7. In most cases I would agree with you wholeheartedly. In region 3 this year Yates bus will have to break down for them not to be in the state tournament if they play like they have been playing.
  8. That’s what made the Silsbee vs HJ seeding game such a crucial matchup. In the grand scheme of things there’s not a lot of difference in getting knocked out in the area round or the regional tournament. There’s no question the 22-4A runner up had a brutal draw in the area round this year. Yates is legit!!
  9. Fair enough
  10. If he’s coaching the team he’s working in two different school districts 🤦‍♂️
  11. Didn’t Ardoin play at Tekoa Academy?
  12. If I’m picking teams to go to battle with Martin from Silsbee is in my top 3 or 4.
  13. I would take a couple of the players you mentioned ahead of McClure but that’s just me.
  14. Lol , I’m pretty new to the game. A guy can’t learn but so much in 63 years in the gym. Half of the “Best backcourt “ was in a boot in the stands last year in Hamshire. Now here’s where I don’t follow you at all, “HJ had more experienced players “. They are all coming back so unless there’s an influx of seniors moving to HF then HJ will still have the most experienced players. Please don’t tell me the guard coming from Tekoa is better than Bush.
  15. Sorry I’m not buying it. A don’t think a group that has had to deal with Bray Bush is gonna fear a transfer guard from Tekoa. Especially one on a team that was 9-19 with some blow out losses to teams that were less than stellar. The best backcourt in that district next year will reside in Sour Lake as will their coach.
  16. One thing that has been completely overlooked in this thread is the kudos to the players. Wherever they came from the kids can go. Congratulations to both Yates for advancing and to Hardin Jefferson for a very good season. .
  17. I have watched the kid from Huffman for years and there’s 2 things I can almost guarantee, he won’t have many 4 point nights and his coach, who is one of the best in the area, will have something put in to get him some looks. Once again you speak of HF having the best players in the district next year. If this is true they aren’t on campus yet. I think HF makes the playoffs next year in the new district but I will probably pick them 3rd. I don’t see them beating HJ if all the players are healthy and They won’t sweep Huffman. That’s JMO
  18. True
  19. Their backcourt won’t be better than HJ’s unless there are some new pieces to the puzzle . They also won’t have the best player in the district unless he wasn’t on campus this year. I know the kid from Huffman had a rough game against HF but he is a very good player also.
  20. A lot of folks around the basketball world would argue that the PG for HJ was the 2nd best player in 22-4A this year. #22 was as good as any one in that district at the post. He had 20 against Yates. Not bad for a role player.
