  1. The key word in your statement is “ education “. The political powers in this country could care less about where someone wants to play basketball.
  2. Just one more observation concerning the “participation trophies” comment. I don’t know how many times you may have been in the HJ gym but they don’t hang participation trophies or banners for going to bi district or area or even regional quarter final game. The rafters are full at HJ but they are regional and state banners. This years team was young, they will get in the gym and they will most definitely be better.
  3. If memory serves me correct, and I’m pretty sure it does, the Aktar kid is a junior who sat out all of last year with an injury ( while going to school at HJ ). I think you’re looking for something that isn’t there. Like I said earlier I think the only player on the HJ squad that has ever went to high school in Beaumont is a junior and did not play play basketball anywhere last year.
  4. Regardless of how you rate the players at HJ this statement isn’t true. I don’t think there’s but one player on HJ’s current roster who has attended school in Beaumont and I don’t think he played basketball at all last year. The rest of the kids have been in the HJ program throughout their high school career. I do know there have been a few kids that have left HJ and transferred in to Beaumont. As far as the UIL giving HJ preferential treatment that’s a stretch. The director also has ties to BISD do you think think he favors them as well ? The kids that were on the floor for HJ last night came up through the Freshman and JV clubs at HJ. They are young and will be very good again next year. I commend them for a successful season.
  5. You will be hard pressed to find a group that spends more time in the gym than the kids at HJ. Last night was simply a contrast in numbers. The bigger the pool of players the better team you can put on the floor. The kids certainly have a right to play however if the schools have a choice of thousands of players they should compete in the highest classification.
  6. With the scoring record Yates is putting up their defense may be the best kept secret in SETexas. It will take a back court with size to beat this club. There were opportunities over the top to beat their press last night it was just a long way over the top 😂
  7. Yes sir. This club may not top that one but they will have to be close.
  8. I think the political “choice of schools “ is directed at giving kids a better education. But hey I’m sure all the transfers to Yates had educational opportunities #1 on their list.
  9. I’ve watched Yates for years at the regional tournament but this is the best Yates. Club I’ve seen
  10. I'm not sure an extended rest this time of year helps you much. HJ has a couple of kids that are nicked up that a little rest may help .The Hawks will need to show up and do what they do. This is a very good basketball team. Lace em up and tip it off.
  11. Listening at the crowd noise in the broadcast makes me wonder more about the home court flip. Sounds like the Freshman post for Woodville is going to be legit. Congrats Kountze on advancing.
  12. Not sure about the collegiate level but in high school the foul is shot, the technical is shot and team shooting the technical gets the ball. You just can’t have them in close ballgames. They are almost always a deciding factor.
  13. Lots of talent in the west end of the County over the next 2 years.
  14. He’s a junior I think. He’s been filling it up since he was a Freshman
  15. These kids are gonna have to develop quick. Graduation is going to be brutal on the Tigers this year.
  16. They are always well prepared and just don’t beat themselves. The post player graduated but they still have some shooters who can fill it up.
  17. Huffman is very well coached and will be fundamentally sound. I don’t think they will overlook anyone.
  18. I know you're an old gambler, would you bet the line on these rankings ?? I guess at least it's a good topic for conversation . Huffman ahead of Memorial, Nederland and West Brook ? I'm not buying that.
  19. Yes sir the total points generated were 7 with the 4 FT’s and the 3 pointer. I gotta think the Hawks would have scored, they were in an offensive groove at the time.
