How in the world did they eject them if they weren't involved ? Tough break for those kids. -

At that point in the game I don't think anyone heard or could hear what was said. I think he more or less screamed towards the student section. It was only the second technical I've seen called on a player this year and have seen a lot more blatant examples not called. Like I said previously overall I thought the officials did a good job in the varsity game. -
I’m not saying this isn’t a rule but if it is then it’s one that’s not enforced. I haven’t seen but 3 technicals given this year, 2 on coaches and none where this ruling was enforced.

I was sitting right in front of where the technical was called. The kid did get emotional but the young man that fouled and the official were both behind him. I just didn’t see an attempt to humiliate the opposition. I think in that instance the official got caught up in the moment just like the player. As far as the play with 11 seconds left goes if the touch foul with 14 seconds is called then you have to call physical contact that forces a player to the floor on the very next possession. If that foul is called the team possessing the ball goes to the line with one of the best FT shooters in the district . I don’t question any coaches strategy and very seldom question officiating but the two instances I mentioned changed the outcome of the game. -

Overall I felt the crew did a good job. One of them I consider the best official in the chapter. My bone of contention is an immediate whistle on an intentional foul when a team has fouls to give but more contact completely ignored on the next inbound at the exact same location. If it’s a foul when the opposing team has fouls to give then it’s also a foul when they don’t. -

I don’t normally comment on the officiating of the under level games but this was the worst officiated game I saw this season. I didn’t know they had contacts in the community nor would I care if they left the bias in the locker room. It was obvious that some of these calls weren’t just from a lack of knowledge of the game, they were deliberate. The one you mentioned being a glaring example. -

Why not Kountze? It’s between the two towns . Within 15 minutes of each and a great gym. West Brook is a borderline dump. -

No excuses for the loss last night but a couple of observations on some late game officiating calls. The first one was on the technical call with 2:55 left in the ballgame and the game tied at 35-35 .HJ grabs a rebound and is fouled, the gym is going nuts and the kid screams in excitement towards his student section. The opposing players and official were both behind him. There was no attempt to show up an opponent, it was a reaction of pure emotion . I could see the call being made if there was a push or contact but there was none. The other call I questioned was with 14.3 seconds left HJ inbounding the ball and HF had a foul to give. The foul was called on a touch instantly, which is the correct call. However on the next inbound with 11 seconds left there was considerably more contact and mysteriously a no call. If the intentional touch fall is called then the triple team where contact forces the player to the floor has to be called as well. I gotta admit basketball is a lot more fun to watch in HF this year than it was in the past. -

And several moving up that can fill it up ! I think depth has been a real advantage this year for HJ but they may be even deeper next season.

I didn’t realize they were 2-8. How in the world can a group of athletes like that be 2-8?

LCM, Lumberton , Hamshire and WOS for 2 spots. Gonna be a dog fight.

This game wasn’t much different in a lot of ways than the first one as far a Silsbee goes. They have 3 scoring threats and in this one one of those threats didn’t score. Foul trouble hampered the Hawks in the first game at the post position, this time around HJ’s post play won the battle in the paint. -

They pressed last night but HJ handles pressure really well. This isn’t necessarily a down year for Silsbee unless you compare it to state finalist clubs. -

HJ won by 5. I think that gives them the At least a share of the district championship. They moved to 10-1 and can lock it up outright if they win on Friday if they haven’t already. -

Martin is a heckuva player as well. Sometimes shots don’t fall but he always gives everything he has. With all the distractions the Tigers has early in the year it kinda makes ya wonder if they were all on board. One question for the Tiger fans, why doesn’t Silsbee ever have a Freshman club? -
And HJ has a bye next Tuesday. I hate the lay offs when you’re playing well

It was clear last night that Bush was going to have to put the Silsbee club on his back. Just exactly like the game in Silsbee the home team had a chance to run away with the ballgame in the middle of the 3rd. HJ went up by 12 but Silsbee went on a 10-0 run. I’ve said it all year but I’ll say it again, this may be the most unselfish team I’ve ever seen! -
good bounce back win !!!

Several things stood out tonight . The Hawks shot the 3 ball much better than they did in the first round and they got great post play tonight. I still say Bush is the best player in SE Texas. The key tonight though has been the Hawks strength all season and that's depth. The Hawks went 11 deep tonight with no significant drop off. Congrats on the "W" HJ now we need to take care of business Friday. -

They should be the favorite going in I would think. Huffman is always solid and will return a really solid shooting guard. HJ is pretty young with a lot of kids returning and some that will help moving up . HF returning all but one will make this district fun to watch.
