I was looking at Tarkington’s record yesterday because I was surprised at them being undefeated in district. I think it’s more of the rest of the district being down than the Longhorns being much improved. Huffman will be dangerous in the playoffs because they won’t beat themselves. They will shoot it very well and not turn it over , if they get you in a possession game they are scary.

Just one final thought from Friday nights game that tells me all I needed to know about what type of job Coach Mitchell is doing with the Lumberton program. I attend ALOT of high school basketball games and have over the past 50 years but I was struck by the number of people in the crowd that had no ties to Lumberton or Silsbee basketball. Folks that came because they were curious as to how far the Lumberton program has come. Sometimes relevance is the biggest compliment a Coach can receive and from the looks of the crowd Friday night it looks like Coach Mitchell has made the Raiders relevant again. I can’t wait to see what the second half of the district season holds for all the members of this district.

I’m sure we’d have to factor in a let down by the Hawks after a very tough loss on the road at Silsbee the game before.

Normally there is more than one date set aside for college visits. I know nothing about this young man or which college he chose to visit and I have no right to pass judgment on the individual so everything I say is just a matter of personal opinion. If no school is missed what’s the difference in leaving at 8pm instead of 4pm? I know these dates are posted ahead of time and I certainly don’t blame a young athlete for taking the trip but it sure makes it tough on a small school team playing without them.

I understand how they work, I just question the timing.
-
I think they still have to travel to EC in the second round though and that's a tough place to win.

Hudson has some impressive wins this year.
-
What type college visit would someone go on during the season?? Not real good timing.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see some of the clubs go in to the district with Huffman after the reorg. I hope not because of the travel. -

Yes sir it is. -
Silsbee didn’t play bad basketball last night. They didn’t shoot the “3” very well but the Raiders were really off from behind the arc. Both clubs were unconscious from the FT line shooting over 80%. After the 1st quarter The Tigers adjusted nicely to doubles on Bush and Martin stepped up and took over . Not sure about the “ I don’t see Silsbee having another game like this “, they didn’t play bad last night and won by 7.

Jekyll and Hyde it looks like this year. They have lost to teams by 50 and the next meeting by 5. I haven’t had a chance to watch em this year, I surprised at this score after seeing how EC handled em last week.

Is the post player still on the team? He was sent to the locker room last week and I wasn’t sure if he’d been removed from the team or not. The LCM coach deserves tons of credit, he has this club at 4-2 at the midway point of the district schedule and I for one didn’t expect that. I enjoy the antics of the shirt nights, it’s getting the spectators involved. -
Not sure about all the team meetings and parents involvement etc. , I tend to think all that stuff is blown way out of proportion. The game is coached on the sideline and played on the court. The difference in this one was hustle and inside play. McClure dominated the game on the boards and in the paint. The Raiders were 3/24 from behind the arc . If they shoot it respectable they win this game. I don’t know what the 2nd half of the district schedule looks like yet as far as home and away games but I think the Raiders are 2-4 and tied for the 4th playoff spot with WOS. Coach Mitchell does a great job, especially with defenses and time management, he’s never been the problem with the Raiders.

Woodville 71 Nacogdoches Central Heights 66/FINAL - OT

Central Heights led by 15 at the half ??? -
He had a great game tonight. He was unconscious in the first quarter. He could of used a breather late in the first or early in the second. Him and #20 kept the Raiders within striking distance . I’ve always said he was a good ball player but not the 2nd best in the district.

Good question, I was wondering the same thing
