  1. Some of the scores that were posted last year from Kountzes 8th grade club makes it look like the pipeline is drying up.
  2. I had the opportunity to be sitting beside Coach Foster at the regional tournament a couple of years ago watching a couple of 4A powerhouses warm up. I asked him how it would be to have that kinda talent jog on the floor the first day of practice. With out hesitation he said, it would all depend on what kinda attitude they brought with them. Told me all I needed to know. The small school guys don’t get enough credit, especially the ones who do it year after year.
  3. This is another one the Warriors defense just can’t quite step up .
  4. I haven't saw Kountze over the summer or this fall. What do they have coming back this year and how much improvement are we looking at in the Lions?
  5. Warren will score a bunch of points they just don't stop anyone.
  6. Clay Davis- Hardin Jefferson Scott Barrett- Huffman Both these guys always have their teams prepared and are very good making in game adjustments.
  7. Warren has played everyone pretty tough this year. They will score but the defense has struggled.
  8. Didn’t the Tigers graduate 7 or 8 players??
  9. I’m not from Silsbee but that was my point. The Tigers lost 2 D1 players and 4 or 5 role players, there is gonna be a drop off.
  10. I know as long as Silsbee has Bush they’re gong to be a good club but I think it’s silly to think Yates is recruiting players to prepare for the Tigers. I don’t know what Yates graduated last year but they beat a Silsbee club by 19 that graduated very heavy, including 2 D1 players.
  11. Nederland vs Lumberton ?? If this one is close I’ll be surprised unless Lumberton can slow the tempo to a crawl.
  12. I said should. I haven’t seen Kirbyville but EC, OF,Buna ,Woodville and Anahuac all seem to be playing pretty good ball.
  13. This ballgame turned on 2 plays. One was a nice interception by Hardin on a deep pass just before the half when Warren had a wide open receiver behind the defense. The safety went up and made a beautiful pic. The other Warren went for a 4th and 5 from the 8 in the 2nd quarter and didn’t convert. A FG there ties the ballgame. First time I’ve been to a football game in years and it was an entertaining game. Both clubs should compete with Kirbyville but I don’t see many other possibilities on the schedule for a “W” for either.
  14. What group did he coach at Cleveland? Their club was in complete disarray last season at the varsity level and I don't think they had enough players to field a JV club. The program over there seemed to have fallen on hard times.
  15. I don't know what's going on with Warren's athletic programs. Normally fights are from a lack of discipline. Hard to blame any particular coaching staff for troubles on the Warriors football team .They have had some very good coaches over the years and gone 0-10.
  16. Did Tigee coach the JV or the Freshman at Lumberton last year ??
  17. If I didn't know better I would think the TIGERS didn't graduate Adams, McCain, Tyler, White etc. Bush is a very special player , no doubt about it but I think it's less than realistic to see this years Tigers to be anywhere close to what they have been the last several years. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Silsbee and HJ split. Both clubs return players who saw considerable playing time last year while losing some top line starters to graduation. I didn't see Silsbee's 8th grade group last year so I don't have any idea how many of those kids will be ready to contribute on the varsity level. I do know HJ had some very good freshman last year on a club that only lost 2 games. I can't help but believe some of those kids will contribute this year.
  18. Looks like we got off track from the original question so here’s my take on it. Can Silsbee get back to state next year? They lost Adams, McCain, White, Tyler and a couple of more off a great team that didn’t make it to state as seniors so my answer is no. They have a great returning PG but lost to much of the supporting cast to win the region.
  19. My point exactly TxHoops, never have seen Coach Davis be “uppity”. Now if he’d said “intense” I could agree with that lol.
  20. No doubt upsets can happen on any night. That’s why I mention Bridge City, they had some kids that could shoot the ball pretty well. They will win some ball games as the rest of their game develops. Lumberton’s biggest asset I saw last year was their ability to control tempo which is a double edged sword when you play a team that walks it up and can shoot it.
  21. I don’t see anyone in the district beating Silsbee or HJ. I could be wrong but I would be shocked to see either of those with more than 1 district loss.
  22. I ain’t real sure how ya get “uppity” coaching high school hoops. I do know the HJ coach is as good as there is in southeast Texas making in game adjustments . I still think we’re looking at a real good series this year between Silsbee and HJ for the district crown. WOS always has the athletes to make games close and BC had a good young club to build on. LCM lost a helluva offensive player so they’re going to have to find some scoring to replace him.
  23. So are you picking Lumberton to finish ahead of HJ this year? The lines on senior night were long at Silsbee and HJ but both will be very solid this upcoming season . The battle for the district title should be a good one between the Tigers and the Hawks. I think Lumberton, WOS and BC will have a good battle for the last two spots.
