1. There are players on both sides who are capable of filling it up when they find their stroke. When you break it down by position HJ gets the nod at every position on the floor except the point which I would call a toss up.The biggest advantage is on the boards and HJ wins that one hands down.If Lin gets comfortable behind the arc it will stay close for awhile. HJ  81 Ktz  65
2. Good deal, justacross the river. They play some good basketball in Lousiana.
3.
whs, thats what i was getting too lol, how have you been?
Been great 25 how bout you ? Are you roamin the sidelines this season??
4. Kountze looked small on the boards but still play great defense. When Linn gets in his groove behind the arc and the PG gets in season form they are gonna score lots of points.Rebounding and interior defense is going to be their achilles this year.
5.
Deweyville 56 Comesneil 46 Trey Bussell 20 pts and Austin Laughlin 15 pts for the Pirates The Bulldogs have a legit 7 foot Center
A Legit 7 ft center should lead his club to a win in this ballgame.
6. Prudhome had a good one tonight but he had one last year in the playoffs that was absolutely sick.
7. Guys, Don't read more into this than it was , just a scrimmage. The running clock and the 5 minute substitutions make a flow hard to get in to.I saw what I figured I would and that is good hustle by all 5 clubs, good pressure defense and not a whole lot of offense. The biggest surprise I saw was the left handed big kid(#42) for HJ,he is gonna give them some productive minutes in the long run and #3 for HJ had a pretty good game as well. The rest of the Hawks I saw play a lot last year and knew they would be solid.Kountze is not real big but they will win a lot of games with their pressure.Goodrich didn't have any depth but will be very competetive in the 1-a ranks.None of the clubs shot the ball very well from the perimeter but it's awful early, that will get better.
8. Kountze has ran a system that has made them successful for years. This year will be know different. While I haven't seen them this summer I know they will be good.If they have some size similiar to Busby and Powell from a few years back they can compete for state championships, if not they could still easily win the district championship.
9.
It's been a long dry spell for sure, Poppa.  Looking forward to seeing you at Ford Park, and in Austin.
I'll buy ya a BBQ burger in Austin slam.Great to hear from ya again.
10. I don't know anything about Colmesneil this season but kids at that age can make a huge progression in one year.It all depeds on how much they keep a ball in their hands.I do know his, in 1-a basketball if you have a decent point guard and a 6'10" post player who is even average you'll be pretty decent.
11. On the small school side Evadale vs Big Sandy will be a fun one to watch this season.Big Sandy returns almost everyone and Evadale has a real good shooting guard and enough around him for Coach Williams to put a solid team on the floor.
12. Congrats to EC on the district championship.Thank goodness the season is over for the Warriors, the kids play hard but it has been a brutal couple of seasons.
It is all relative.  The premier guys from any high school are normally going to go to major colleges.  That doesn't mean that the only high school players worth signing are the ones that go to UT?  There is second tier talent at local high schools just like everywhere else.  Your post makes no sense.  Granted, we probably can't win a national championship with local talent only but we certainly could with a majority local roster.  Really, I prefer we recruit locally first but I'm not going to boycott the team or anything if we sign an All American from Michigan or New York or wherever.
If you honesty believe you can win in even D-2 collegiate football without getting out of your backyard to recruit then you can get used to getting beat consistantly.WB and Lumberton had pretty good high school programs that these kids came off of but the difference between a pretty good high school player and a pretty good D-2 recruit isn't even close.I know coach Woodard was successful at Navarro and I don't mean to imply that he should be winning the conference in his second year.He will get Lamar on the right track but he won't do it with a roster full of local players.Sorry if that hurts your feelings but it's a fact.
Well, you are wrong so it doesn't hurt my feelings at all.  Even if you are right why would it hurt my feelings.  Get a grip.  Btw, I definitely don't expect him to win the conference either but I also don't expect 66-0 beat downs by teams in our conference.
What part do you think I'm wrong about? On one hand you praise the idea of recruiting locally and on the other you say you don't expect 66-0 beat downs. The two are directly related.I'll go out on a limb here and predict that Lamar will be competetive in a couple of years.I will also bet they won't have 35 players on the roster from the golden triangle area. There are some superb players in our corner of the state but you can't ignore the rest of the country when it comes to recruiting, if you do you simply won't win.Beaumont has a lot to offer in facilities and the fan support will be second to none if they put a winner on the field.

15. We have gotten completely out of hand with the playoff numbers and the all district picks.Send 2 teams to the playoffs and pick your 11 best players on the all district club and teach everyone to work harder if they want the prize at the end of the season.
16. 43-0 would have been a close game for some our opponents this year  ::) I know that's not alot of fun for the players on the short end but you don't quit once the game starts. If you can't compete , don't start. If you start don't quit.

18. Warren has shown some improvement unfortunately it still hasnt produced a win.I honestly don't know what the answer is other than getting the kids that are in the program into weight room and also getting more numbers in the program. Most of the skill players are juniors who have started for 2 seasons so youth is no longer the problem.Sad thing is they can improve tremendously and still have to line up on fridays against EC/Newton etc.Not sure how many consecutive they have lost but it has to be at least 25.
19. It's great to see people contribute to their communities simply because it's the right thing to do.Sounds like a fine man who will be remembered even after he leaves.
20. I was watching the game on TV and happened to hear that Sam Houston didn't have any recruits that came from the local clubs while Lamar was continously calling players name from Lumberton,Kelly, WB etc. This is not a knock on local clubs but it is impossible to build a successful college program when you recruit that heavily locally.
21. Some good arms in Warren for the upcoming season.
They should be able to compete with Hardin but the other 2 games are Newton and EC :(
23. Anything you can do to improve conditioning will help prepare you for the season.CC isn't the end all but it definiely is a start.
