1. My schedule was wrong, I thought this game was scheduled for Tuesday  ???
2.
Not pretty, but, a very exciting game. The Warriors just will not go away or give up.  Keep it up boys!
Sounds like an ole girlfriend LOL
3. There is no substitute for experience but you don't have to be the head guy to be experienced. The enthusiasm the good young coaches bring to the sport can be contagious and sometimes that all it takes to turn a program around.Looking from the outside the program at HF was better this year than it has been in a long time. For years they were pretty much an easy "W" on anyones schedule. It doesn't make sense to reassign the guy who was at the helm last yearand put a football asst. in charge. No doubt having contacts in the business can give an applicant a big advantage.
4. Congrats Warriors, big win for a club that continues to improve.
5.
I can't stand when people get on here and spew generalities about a player and how many shots or whatever they took....so here are facts for you guys:                         Jimmer Fredette     Kemba Walker Minutes:                   35.8                     37.6 Points PG:                 28.9                    23.5 FGMade/G:                9.4                      7.7 FGAtt/G:                   20.7                    18.0 FG%/G:                    45.7                    42.8 2pt made/G:             6.0                      5.6 2pt att/G:                 12.2                    12.5 2pt %/G:                  49.1                    47.1 3pt made/G:             3.4                      1.8 3pt att/G:                 8.5                      5.5 3pt %/G:                 39.6                     33.0 FT made/G:              6.8                      6.3 FT att/G:                 7.6                       7.7 FT %/G:                  89.4                     81.9 Reb/G:                    3.4                       5.4 Ast/G:                     4.3                       4.5 Steal/G:                  1.3                       1.9 Turover/G:              3.5                       2.3
Now thats what I'm talking about. These stats are impressive on both sides.I haven't researched the tourney stats but Jimmer was impressive when he got to the big dance.I would take him any day on my club.At least this topic livened up the board so mission accomplished.
6.
The time for bragging and chest pounding is after the season when you've actually won it....keep it classy guys...
AMEN !!!! If the Warriors make the playoffs I think that would be a very successful season.I don't think anyone on this board expects them to take down the champs but it shows they are headed in the right direction. They have a good mixture of young kids and some solid seniors to keep em in line. They finally have a good young coach and have kept him in place long enough to start building a program.Don't be mislead by the score in the first game, it was extremely close until a few errors late in the game and this one will be as well.Let's throw out the first pitch and watch a good clean ballgame.
7. I hate to say I told ya not to overlook the Warriors so I won't.The first game was nearly dead even thru 6,Warren stranded a ton of runners and made a few costly errors late. This should be a dandy.Lets go Warriors.
8. You still gotta look at percentages. If you have a player with that kinda range who shoots a great percentage why would you not want him to shoot it 30 times a game??
9. No doubt anyone who ever played would rather win the championship. That being said the players who aren't blessed with the strong supporting cast deserve the recognition too.Jimmer may never be a great NBA player but he had as sweet a stroke as anyone who has played the college game in years.
10. Didn't know his name but I was impressed with his control.Whoever called his pitches did a masterful bob of keeping hitters off balance. He didn't throw real hard but the kid could pitch.
11. Over the years I've seen some pretty darn good small school pitchers, Beck from Woodville,Douglass from Colmesneil and McCabe from Spurger to name a few. With the season at about the mid way point I haven't seen anyone in 2-a get anywhere close to the mid 80"s.Most of the kids I've seen are throwing 78-79.The kid from Buna, lil lefthander seemed to have real good control of several pitches.I got to see Gray from Warren the other nite and he aslso had real good control of 3 pitches. No dominant hurlers on the small school scene that I've seen this year but definitely some young kids that can keep you in a game.
12. Amen. The potential for these kids is unreal but they need to mature phsically and mentally to be successful in the NBA.
13. Kemba Walker is a beast,no doubt, but when you put stats side by side Jimmer leads him in every statistical category.
14. Ok here's a question that should get a few comments.Going by some opinions on this board the POY should come from the champion.Using this logic the kid with the absolute best statistical year in college hoops would not win the award. What do you guys think?? I think the kid has to be the POY, the books don't lie.
15. Price will be fine. This was a perfect example of how quick the wheels fall off when you make a few errors at any level. After a couple of fielding errors he just tried to do a little too much.I think they may have overlooked the Warren club just a little.
16. Price never looked comfortable in this one.A timely 2 run double down the right field line gave the Warren club confidence which is a dangerous thing to give a young club.Chase Gray was the the better pitcher tonite by far.True me and you don't usually agree but I agree 100% on this one.You start with a good pitcher and stay strong up the middle and you'll win a ton of games.
17. Good job guys. This club has some speed and had the leather working tonite also. The district is going to be a lot of fun to watch.
18. Props to the kid from Deweyville, anyone who averages 20 points a game against Kountze,EC and Deweyville can play.True , I don't know where you get it's easy for an average player to shine on a bad team, that one loses me.If a team has one capable offensive threat every team they play will scheme their defense to stop him.A good player will always excel on a good team because the really good players make each other better.Talent is talent, that's why you often see kids from mediocre teams play in all star games and light it up.I didn't see Hunter this year but I saw him alot as Fresh and Soph and could tell he was gonna be a very good player then.
19. Gotta disagree with this one. If a kid is an offensive player he will score regardless of the team he's on, it is often harder for a kid on a less talented team to score because everyone is geared to stop him. There is nothing at all wrong with playing on a good balanced team but an 11 point player on a good team will be an 11 point player on a bad team. The best example of a MVP discussion comes from a couple of years ago in this same district.Tyler Copeland was the MVP but wasn't on the best team by any stretch, if anyone would have picked 5 players to start a team that year he would have been the first player picked.
20. If he put up 363 in district games he definitely should get the nod, thats 30.25 a game which are super stats in anyones books. If he put those numbers up over a season the it's somewhere in the neighborhood of 10 pts a game. The Estes kid has been a solid lil player for the last several years.Sometimes it's tougher on kids on not so good teams to score because the defenses are geared to stop them.
21. There will always be a difference in opinion on the superlatives, that comes from people who follow some teams closer than others. The real issue these days are the number of folks who receive the awards. When you have over 50% of the district making all district it waters down the selection process to the point the kids that deserve it aren't recognized for their hard work.
22. Good job Warriors.I knew this club was gonna be pretty salty and they are young at alot of positions.I saw the little left hander from Buna pitch a really good game at Warren last week.He wasn't overpowering but had good control of several pitches and really hit his spots. This district may not be overpowering this year but is really even and fun to watch.
23.
I would want to see each of them play 3-4 times before I could even start to give an opinion and then still it would be tough because some players play very well against average competition but when it goes to the next level they are no where to be found.  I like to see a player against the best competition 3-4 times and then I can usually tell if he can play.  There have been players I have seen play once against good competition and I knew they had the skills to do that the majority of the time.  For example, Kirie Irving from Duke, you can just tell by watching him move and see the floor that he can play.  He is very smooth and always thinking and under control.  I hope he comes back to Duke next year with the Rivers kid.  That would be a tough backcourt.
Excellent post East texas bb.I didn't see the kid from Channelview or Crosby but saw the rest of these kids several times. While Prudhomme isn't on the list he took his game to a different level in the playoffs and would have to be cosidered. There are some kids who just disappear when the competition gets tough. If I were going to have a poll it would include Prudhomme,Sells from Woodville and the kid from Lufkin Hudson.
24. Somebody must be trying to build their Karma with this poll.I saw most of these players several times and the best one on this list was DC Stallworth.Another snap shot in the playoffs and Iwould have said Prudhomme from HJ was the best. The guys on this list are solid players but MVP for SETX ???
