1. Texas had some solid players but they aren't NBA ready,if they declare it will be a mistake.
2.
Lol starting to feel like a H-F fan ;D
You'd have to flip their record to feel like a HF fan  ;D ;D
3. I fished those for years and may check them out again this year. The salt water barrier cut me off my water but I may go look down south. What time do they leave out and weigh in now and whats the entry fee???/
4. It would be nice to see a charge back in the Montagne. There would be no shortage of intensity.
5. If this is the best they can do expanding the field they need to go back to 64.
6. I predict Silsbee and HJ will fill up the gym again a couple of times and play again at Huntsville for a state berth. The Hawks in another down year will probably win 30 again LOL.
7. I know it's a topic every year on the message boards but the all district selections have gotten completely out of hand. These awards at one time were for kids who excelled at their sport. We have gotten to the point now where over half the district makes all district which kinda dilutes what the kids that deserved the awards have accomplished.I'm all for letting the kids that play enough quarters earn a lettermans jacket but not everyone that laces up the sneakers is an all district player.
8. Idalou won a football title also I believe so they must of had a pretty solid group.
9. Amen, He has played well all season and is very deserving.
10. This is nothing new in the education arena. The state has mandated what the schools will be required to do for years without having to supply the money. In some cases the wealthy districts could survive while the poorer districts have to make tough cuts. When you set behind that desk and have to make RIF cuts it's an extremely tough decision. One that I hope to never have to make again. It will make some of the districts with sattelite schools be more responsible with their spending.
11. The old WOS coach would be great in that position but I don't see that happening.Just for the record Durant can't lift his car keys but I can't think of anyone I'd rather have shooting the ball with a game on the line.
12. No surprise for me to see the Nederland Bulldogs playing so well, when you watch the Coach English clubs they are always as well prepared as anyone. The Hawks of HJ just continue to play fundamental basketball. You look at their lineups before the season and say hey it's a down year coming but you make your reservations to Huntsville because you know they got a shot and then you look up and they have won 30.Coach Williams at Evadale and Coach West at Anahuac both did terrific jobs with their rosters this year. The officials need to settle their differences and put this chapter back together again. They need to have a group of mentors to train the young guys and gals and have them earn their stripes calling sub varsity and jr high games. And last but not least the seasoned officials need to be encouraged to get in shape to stay in position on the floor to make the calls. And one final observation, I hope Travis Williams gets his health lined out and can return to the bench where he adds so much to the rivalry games we've come to enjoy so much.Good luck Coach T.
13.
wheres the nut that said EVADALE  was from a week district now you just lost your accountability. ha ha
Not sure what to make of this trophyman  ??? Would you say that Evadales playoff sucess was related to them coming out of a tough district  ??? Playoff basketball is all about matchups and momentum with some luck thrown in along the way.The Rebels should be congratulated for a super year. Coach Williams had them prepared after playing a good non district schedule. When you look at the playoff brackets alot of the better clubs knocked each other off along the way.I'm not sure what happened to them in the playoffs but Cayuga was the best 1-a club I saw this year. This group will be hard to replace for the Rebels they have been solid in all the sports.
14. Just saw where Tucker was selected to the All State All Tournament team.Congrats the the young man on a great accomplisment.I saw on a clip last night the kid from Eula was 2 points short of the 1-a record with 76 points in 2 games.Haven't looked up the record yet but the kid was a real solid player.
15. I wish I would have known what time they were playing.Lots of sophs on this Warren club that should get better with every game.
16. As we put the wraps on another high school basketball season lets hear some opinions on the season that just concluded. What do ya'll think about the state of the game.Officiating, clubs who were up and coming and some that may have took a step back.Anything that can get us ready for next year in what I consider the greatest sport played-HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL
17. Just one of the challenges high school coaches deal with these days.I can't imagine a kid leaving his team mates high and dry like that.I know we put too much empasis on high school sports sometimes but this is a wound that will take years to heal. Can you imagine how sweet it would have been in Jamaica in June talking about winning the state title.
18. Just looking at stats because I wasn't able to see anything but film clips Tucker may have gotten some consideration.
19. I wasn't talking about Evadale in particular in my post.I was talking about officials at the state tournament in general.
20.
The championship games are not predetermined on who will officiate those games. The crews who officiate the semis are evaluated and then 6 crews out of the 12 get chosen to do the 6 championship games. That's how it was explained to me by an official who has called at the state tourney.
So using that formula you could say half of the officials were sent home packing. These really are the best in the state. The fiasco in the college game earlier this week proves officials make mistakes at all levels. There really isn't a conspiracy to take control of the games.
21. I'm not a politician by any stretch but to say a governor has never worked a day in his life would be a stretch. There are several different definitions of work. While an honest days work never hurt anyone I don't think I'd want a governor who ran the state in his spare time.
22. I hope they get this budget stuff lined out because alot of our kids have chosen to be teachers and coaches. It would be a shame for these kids to have to change career choices because of irresponsible spending at the state level. The cosolidation of the small school districts may become a reality before this is over.
23. Unless something has changed over the past 3 years officials are graded with only the very best getting the opportunity to call any of the playoff games.By the time you they reach the state tourney you are looking at the best in the state.Regardless of which game you watched at the Drum half the fans left unhappy.Laurence pretty well summed it up in his news conference when he said shot selection down the stretch probably hurt the Rebels.Personally I would rather have the players who will step up and take the shots in critical situations than those who don't want the ball. This group should be proud of their season,it was a great one !!
