1. Congrats to Coach Williams and the Rebels on a fine season.A close loss is tough to take under any circumstance but the folks that officiate these games are chosen because they are the best in the state.I just saw Coach Williams interview on the news and he handled himself with class,no surprise there. There are no losers in the state tourney, once again Congrats on a fine season.
2. Travis has his program established so he will have players moving up every year. Some classes will always be stronger than others but the Tigers will be fine.
3.
We did ourselves good by getting Williams on board.  Some thought we would never see the light of day after the last coach left, well looks like he at least has not done a bad job.  Congrats to the Rebels and to Coach Williams, great job and a class act!
Good Luck Rebels.Coach Williams was a perfect fit for this group. You almost always need an experienced guy on the bench with a senior club and he has done a super job !!
4.

Lazeek and Pappabear: thanks for the broadcasts this year.  Keep 'em going forever, please.  I'm already looking forward to next year. We just got home from Huntsville feeling sad, yes, but gratified for another great season of HJ hoops. Congrats and best of luck to Mexia.  Not many teams withstand our comeback surges in the playoffs.  Great job.  Seemed like a bunch of really good kids, too. HJ Seniors: thanks for the memories, and so many nights of driving home happy.  Work as hard in your future endeavors as you worked for your coaches.  The sky's the limit for you guys. Coaches: you guys know how I feel about y'all.  Many, many thanks.  Best of luck next year.  We'll see y'all at the games.
Me too Dr. slam I feel the same way, and I really have enjoyed watching your kids play you should be very proud of them they are wonderful young men and are a reflection of their dad, who is a pretty good guy. I love the fact that even though your kids are gone from the program that you still follow it just as passionately as they were still in it...as far as the broadcast I hope we can keep doing it, I love the fact that Hawk nation can listen even if they cant make it to the gym...
Gotta agree with both these post.I've gotten to watch the Hawks for the past several years and to get to know Dr.Slam and both are the example of class.I've traveled all over SETX this year watching high school basketball and have thoroughly enjoyed watching the Hawks.I look forward to watching the next group step up next season.Congrats on a super year to the team and the staff.
5.
I don't think a lot of you in this area got to see #5 Darrin Sells play this year. Guys on the 2A level who are Kountze don't get a lot of spotlight, not dissing Kountze cause they are always at the top every year. I think some guys in the Silsbee and Kountze area did see him play and he is hands down one of the top 7 in SETX. I know he doesn't play against great teams like 3A and 4A teams do but he can't help that. This kid is great, on and off the court.
I don't know the young man personally but he could play on my team anytime.I saw him a couple of times this year and he was definitely one of the best in the area.
6. This was the first time I 've seen Mexia this year and they shot the ball as well as anyone I've seen this year.#23 was unbelievable until he turned his ankle.
7. I agree with that assessment so if they beat Orangefield and BC and split with WOS record would be 5-5.I may be wrong but I don't see them beating Silsbee or HJ in the foreseable future.
8. I would congratulate him on a good game but I wouldn't elevate a player on the shoulders of one game.Zay is a good player no doubt but he has been included in the same topic for years with some of Kountzes best and he isn't quite as good as some recent players in the Lions Den.I think by the post on this topic most folks would agree the overall talent level is down this year in SETX and would be tough to find 25 really good local players this season.
9. Not saying there aren't some pretty good returning players and I have no doubt that Coach Brooks would do a really good job, that being said they are in a 6 team district that has HJ,Silsbee,WOS,Orangefield and BC. If they win the games they should win they would be 4-6.The swing spot in this race would be WOS and I like there young coach to really make an impact there.Who else would you see them beating???
10. Ira would do a good job but it's not like the cupboards are full in Fannett.A really good coach could have a sub 500 season there unless Vidor made out the schedule  ::) ::)
11.
Zay should be top 10 after his performance tonight
Come on utfan06 you're reaching now.Zay is a good ball player but he had some big shoes to fill.
12. Conrats to Duane and the Lions.Good run with a young club.
13. On thing for sure, the Silsbee vs Lincoln was as good a basketball rivalry as you'll find on any level. The crowds could get absolutely crazy !!!!
14.
I dont see Evadale getting past Milano ... yes Milano may be undersized against Evadale's bigs ... but Milano can absolutely hit from beyond the arc .. i dont think Evadale's outside game is anywhere close to Milano's ... Milano comes from a heavy 1A basketball area .. Evadale ... well they dont its a very weak basketball district has been for years now .. Sorry im from the Golden Triangle and i support local teams .. and sure ill be cheering for Evadale .. but i do not see them getting past Milano
Gotta disagree with part of this statement. The district was down this year but if you look back over the last 3 or 4 years it has been pretty good.Spurger went to state out of this ditrict last year,Big Sandy went a couple of years ago and West Hardin had some really good clubs 3 or 4 years ago led by Brandon Letsinger.
15. Most AAU clubs give you the chance to play against really good clubs but most turn in to the "hey look at me show".The ball handling and the 10-15ft jumper will come with ,as Allen Iverson would say, "PRACTICE".
16. Good job guys.Young guns are playing pretty good ball.
17. ThEy played softball last night and baseball tonight. Ags the TEA calls the shots on this one I believe instead of the UIL.
18. I think Forney signed to play football but he also said he wanted to play basketball.I'm not sure he will be a D1 player, there aren't many in the area this year.
19.

We could give suggestions on this thread, then a moderator compile it all and give a list? Just a thought since we dont have a list yet.. 3 kids from Nederland that could start for any team in SETX 1) Kelvin Smith 2) Chris Cunningham 3) Dionte Forney
Forney is not a top player. Maybe last year, but not this year.
I haven't seen Dionte play this season but he has already signed to play with Lamar next season as a 2 sport player so he must be pretty good.DC is probably the only other kid on this list that could possibly go D1 and I'm not real sure of that yet.
20. I really don't know ST413, it dawned on me tonite on the way home from a softball game.Afew years back the Taks test and the basketball playoffs conflicted in the first round and most games were local. They still had to be played on Wednesday so I'm not sure what's goin on with this.
21. I just don't see the horses this year for the Lions.Over the past seasons you could go down a list starting with Hall-Coffey or Busby-Powell or Walker-Bray.I know the area has been down a little this year but I just don't see the go to guys on this Lions club it takes to move much deeper in the playoffs.I hope I'm wrong and wish the Lions well on Wednesday.
22. With the basketball playoffs be pushed back to Wednesday and Thursday due to a conflict with the TAKS test why in the world can they play softball or baseball on these same nights? What am I missing here ????
23. Prudhomme would definitely be on a list . McDaniel is a decent player but no way is a better player than any of they guys that are under him on this list. This is a real good example of TopDawg 52 point. You think of the really good players in the area and you can come up with about 12.The top 2 idea from each team still alive is absurd in my opinion. You would have some kids on a list that couldn't start for some of the clubs that are already eliminated.
24. The two biggest factors in playoff basketball is matchups and adjustments. The Rebels are lucky to have a guys at the helm who has coached at the high school and college level. From here on out the oppostion determines where the ball goes so don't be so quick to say they have to go to the bigs and they have to convert. If the defenses collapse ,and they will, the ball will have to be kicked out and Murphy will have to convert. The ball can take funny bounces this time of year so anything can happen.I hope the Rebels continue to win but I gotta believe they are going to start seeing some pretty good clubs from here on out.
25. Amen. You could probably come up with 10 to 12 solid players but the depth hasn't been here this year.
