Come on True Evadale is gonna be fine in the 1-a district but playing powerhouses like HF isn't a good insight to strength of schedule.Fact is #32 is their best player and anyone will struggle without their best player.After being a pretty easy win for years HF has some potential this year but they don't look to have a basketball guy on the bench.They could be better than they have been ina long time.

I toldya this series was alot closer than most folks think.I still say they split and play for seeding.

Gotta feel for the Warriors.They have an extremely young club and for some reason the powers to be pulled them out of their holiday tourney so they go from Dec 17th to Jan 4th without a game.The worst thing on a young club is not playing.

Because I think the Tigers pressure the ball this year a little better than the Hawks do.

I didn't say who had the better half court game just what the game was going to come down to.Neither one of these clubs is going to turn it over much with the group they put on the floor this year.These games will be close.

I'll have to get my state program to get the teams but I saw a 1-a semi final a couple of years ago.The team that was leading by 1 and had the ball at mid court just simply needed to inbound the ball and run out the clock.The losing club stole the inbound pass and hit a shot at the buzzer to pull out the win.I was sitting across the aisle from the losing clubs fans they left the drum in shock.I think it was Martins Mill and someone.

Let me say this one more time just for grins  ;D The majority of Silsbbe's offense comes off defensive pressure and HJ won't turn the ball over, so this will become a possession type game late.The club with the best half court sets and the one that hits the clutch free throws will win.When you throw in the home court atmosphere at each place you have your favorite.Tigers at Silsbee,Hawk at Sour Lake and an absolute toss up on a neutral floor.Sounds familiar doesn't it ????????????

I would give my lunch money to see Davis and Hand matchup any day.

Woodville had a very good club that year and the Huntington coach knew that was the only way to keep the game close.You gotta take your hat off to the Huntington kids for being disciplined enough to pull it off.

High school basketball is all about matchups and there are some interesting ones between these 2 clubs.The biggest thing everyone is overlooking is Silsbee scores a ton of their points this year off turnovers and HJ isn't going to turn it over much.The Hawks developed a lot of depth while they had their injuries,this series is gonna be closer than most folks think.

That will mae a huge difference, Cleveland will have a legit shot this year at the regional tourney.

3 of the best are retired or not coaching at the time Gamble,Williams and Boutte.Also some of the best local coaches are assistants.The best head coaches and assistants in my opinion and this is in no particular order Sutherland, English, T Williams, L Williams, Joubert and West for the head guys.Brooks,Davis and Hoffpauer are head coaches that happen to be assistants right now but could be head coaches anywhere they chose to be.There are several more that I don't know personally that do a good one is from Kountze and another over at HJ.There are also some really good small school coaches that do a good job year in and year out ,Foster at Big Sandy and the head guy over at West Hardin has been sucessful at several places over the years.The coaches don't get enough credit because the ones I've mentioned have been successful wherever they go.

They split home and away and playoff or flip for seeding.It's going to be hard to keep Cleveland out of the regional tourney this year.

There may not be a true PG in SETX.Both the kids from Silsbee and HJ do a good job of playing within the system they play in.I have also been impressed with the kid from LCM,Woodville and the best I've seen myself this year is the kid from Lufkin Hudson.He could score at will and could get the ball to his team mates at will,they didn't always finish but he put it where it needed to be.

Folks to play big time D-1 basketball you have to have the complete package.There is nothing wrong with playing at a mid major.Simple fact is most our great local players are gonna be mid major prospects.Our very good local players will be JUCO or D-3 players.Our good players who put up good distict numbers for a couple of years better be saving their money if they are going to college.DC is a great local player but will have a few things he will have to improve on to be a mid major player at the position he will be required to play.To play guard at the mid major level you have to have excellent  ball handling skills and shooting and the biggest thing folks overlook is defense and STRENGTH.The guys that play defense on the perimeter at mid major schools are stout kids.

I know you're enitled to your opinion Santa but I've been watching basketball a long time and Evadale is way to disciplined to get beat by that much by anyone.They are well coached and would simply let the air out of the ball.

Compare them to some of the really good local players from the past several years.Donahoe was one of the few in recent years who had the opportunity to go mid major and none of these kids are close to him.JCovan is the only one that comes to mind recently who went major D1 and we all know he was in a class by himself talent wise when you look at kids from here locally.

Kountze suits 10 players how do you tell 6-10 not to play? They have worked just as hard as 1-5.Hemphill is a 2-a school just like Kountze.If you don't want to get beat that bad get in the gym,go to work and get better.Kids do it every day and it really does work.

[/quote] Good point. It doesn't look like Zay will step up this year and be the leader. If anything, I believe the SOPH PG J.Powell shows more leadership on the court. The team I was on was smaller than that when we were 3A and still went to State.  ;) It's all about team speed and pressure defense. We used our defense to fuel our offense. Something that's ironic about me speaking on making adjustments about Linn being out, is that they'll have to make additional adjustments when he returns just before the last week of district play. Duane probably needed his guys to get some confidence back after the game last week against Evadale.Kountze has a pretty young club,you can't tell them not to play.
